Karenai Sekai to Owaru Hana is a nakige with some positives but it also struggles a bit with a story that is very one-note to its detriment. Past that it's pretty standard fare. To me it's another visual novel where the positives and negatives cancel out to where it's just fine. Characters are interesting enough. There's a perverted onee-san type, a cheeky kouhai type, a kind and caring type, and a cutesy imouto type. They all fit their stereotypes fairly well, although there isn't much time spent on characterization beyond the basics, so don't expect very deep characters here. There's also not much character development in this visual novel - partially due to its relatively short runtime (7:23 for me). There are no real standouts here, but nothing particularly grating either. The story is both where this visual novel shines as well as the largest area of failure in my opinion. On the positive end it manages to be a somewhat effective nakige in a very short period of time. It managed to get me emotional within the first hour and a half of reading, which normally does not happen. For me though, once that was successful there was no truly effective comedy or break in the serious mood. It had a few comedic moments but very quickly dove back into serious issues, which led to a feeling of it being a bit of a slog to get through and greatly diminished what emotional impact was there. Most of the aimed comedy moments were the tired and cliche straight / funny man bits, most of which were as cliche as they come, with nothing feeling original at all. I think if you enjoy the kind of comedy here then you'll likely feel a lot more positively about the story as it would have broken up the serious parts quite a bit better. All the story bits were also foreshadowed well in advance, to the point where I had figured out where everything was going by the time the prologue had finished. Take from that what you will, but for me it was another aspect where it diminished the emotional payout when it can be seen from that far away. The epilogues are where all the moe and cute moments are, but they're not very long and are probably 60-75% H-scenes all take place within the epilogues. There's 10 total H-scenes in total that would feel at home in a Marmalade title. I found the art to be very pretty, and the direction aided here, especially the multiple scenes with flower petals being animated along the screen, but there's not a lot of CGs or backgrounds present. Music is also fairly limited, but what is there is appropriate, although I wished the scripting of it was timed a bit better. The OP is a very pretty AiRi sung song, but the ED is a run of the mill Sagara Kokoro tune. The fan translation done by Shinzou translations isn't bad, but it could've used more editing or QA work. It reads like it was translated from JP to Spanish and then into English. From the lines I listened to in full - admittedly very few - the translation itself is fine, but there's a decent number of typos and grammatical errors. For instance there were at least three times "tights" was in the script instead of "thighs". If this kind of thing bothers you then I would skip this one. This title can be picked up secondhand without too much trouble and there's also a download edition. It worked without any real issues for me on a Windows 11 PC. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a decently written nakige if they're a fan of the cliche straight man / funny man type of comedy. If you're not a fan of that comedy it will likely feel one note to you like it did to me.

Welcome to this week VNTS Review, and for the title I'll tell about it in PS later. For this week, well honestly speaking it's quite a plain one which to say is quite understandable if we consider it as the breather one. We also have Shiravune released the nukige, and once again we have a number of updates from fan translation. With that done, let's see what I can write in regard of this week as well. For Kamitsubaki City Regenerate, I do a bit of research of Kamitsubaki and find out they're a group of virtual idol that currently becoming popular. For the VN itself, what I got it's about the male MC who somehow ended up in a ruined world, and after he woke up he met up with a girl named Kafu with the MC soon set up a quest to save the ruined world together with Kafu. Another things that I know is the VN story is apparently quite dark, it have some gameplay with the gameplay is the usual RPG along with rhythm game in which the latter is quite obvious because of Kamitsubaki group as the virtual idol group, and Lemnisca themselves was involved in the translation work of it. I do hear the VN is quite good even with the virtual idol group stuffs, so feel free to try the VN if you're curious. Shiravune did release Real Eroge Situation DT, and once again it's about the reality of eroge MC with he was manage to have sex with five girls even though he was called out as being unlucky because he manage to crush any romance flags. Go get the VN if you're in the mood for a nukige with big breast heroines (And admittedly quite nice arts), and have fun. For fan translation updates, we have Ushieta is in QC work with it now is 63% done, and Watamasu suddenly see some progress in QA after around three years with it's QA is now 40% done. Lastly, we have Shizuku was translated the same team who translate ToHeart 1997 version, and currently 190 script files of it are already translated. For a bit of explanation, Shizuku is one of the well known denpa VN that popularized the genre in 1996 with the story has the MC see the girl in her class became insane with he asked by his uncle to investigate the matter. That's all for what I can write in regard of thhis week, and see you next week. PS - For the title, because we have Kamitsubaki City Regenerate released with they're turned out to be a group of virtual idol, I decided to make a parody for one of their song, Confused Telepathy, by changed 'Telepathy' into 'Time Leap' with the latter is from Dekinai Watashi's MC ability to do time leap to the past, so we have 'Confused Time Leap' as the title.

Watch Detective School Q early filler episodes, and I find it quite peculiar the filler has some murder cases before the casts face their first serial murder cases which turned to be fake murder with heavy dose of creepiness dressings. The anime staffs also insert the plot where the casts wondering if the Q class mean as the lowest class, while the manga explicitly said that Q class is the special class immediateley. In the end, obviously the anime offer different experience compared to the manga, although it would be nice if we can see the reboot of the anime in the more faithful manner.

I'm working on a decompiler for YuRis/ERIS (and a recompiler to renpy). I've gotten the structure of the ybn files pretty much completely down and a game that can run in renpy with about 85% of the scripts running out of the box, though the sprite positions are a bit shifted and renpy doesn't really support relative movement. I'll publish it on GitHub soon (hopefully), when it's gotten a bit easier to use. It can also automatically find the XOR-Key. Is that something people would be interested in? It can't produce compilable YuRis code for now (though it should be doable) and it's (as far as I know) the first attempt at parsing the complete scripts (not only strings). Thank you very much.

Anybody knows how to extract files from .pack files of Nie no Hakoniwa - Dollhouse of Offerings? I can't find any reliable info about this files and any know apps (7-Zip. GARBro) can't open them. Unity code compiled into native libraries (il2cpp) so i, sadly, can't figure it out with just "cracking" into original game code

Technically not a fan tl project. I plan to make a voice mod that replaces Shiina's voice in the R18 Plus Harmony version with her All Ages version voice files. Reason being: in the All Ages version she is voiced by Inori Minase, which is a must. I am able to extract the voice files with Garbro, However how do I repack it?

Ima Sugu Onii-chan ni Imouto da tte Iitai! (ImaImo https://vndb.org/v7766) is a surprisingly good all-ages moege, and one I'd recommend to most moege readers as long as they're okay with no H-scenes being present and can be okay with the somewhat stupid premise the VN itself has regarding crossdressing. I'll only be talking about things in general to avoid spoilers. Getting the easy stuff out of the way: systems are standard and I had zero issues getting this working on my Windows 11 computer in JP locale and installing the English patch was a breeze. For reference I am running the DVD version with a USB DVD drive, so I can't speak to other versions, but this version was also incredibly cheap to get second hand - well under the cost of the download version when I purchased it - despite being a "first press limited edition". OST is pretty straightforward and what you would expect from sprite / fairys at this point. Nothing particularly noteworthy to me, but a lot of stuff composed by elements garden, solid OP songs, a few really pretty inserts, and EDs sung by the VA's themselves, as well as one "grand ED" that played after clearing everyone's routes - I didn't specifically test but it may have played just after Ayumu's as that was the last route I did. The characters are fairly well rounded in this story. MC is relatable and not a complete idiot (if you ignore him being ) - although he still has that donkan trait, but it didn't feel as bad as usual - and is somewhat proactive, which was a nice change. For the heroines, you have the titular imouto (Ayumu), the shy class president (Kimika), your best friend (Matsuri), and the serious martial artist (Mao). It was nice that these characters don't strictly boil down into their archetypes too much either. They all develop through the various routes and make progress in their personal goals, partially through the common route but primarily in their own heroine routes. With the story, I came into this not expecting as much cuteness as I ended up getting since it is from the same writer as Koichoco ( https://vndb.org/v4028 ) and there was a decently heavy focus on drama in Koichoco. ImaImo's story does take place approximately 2 years before Koichoco and does feature some references and even shares a few characters with it, but there is no need to have read it before; although you will miss some references without having read it, nothing that changes the story, they are simply cute nods to it. The whole common route is focused on slice of life and various cute moments while they introduce the characters. While there is still drama in ImaImo it is much more well balanced and the heaviest bits of it are located within the titular imouto's route. For a simple comparison I cried twice in total over the course of the three other heroine's routes, but maybe five times during Ayumu's. Nothing too ridiculously over the top, but there is believable drama where it pops up in this visual novel so it hits quite a bit harder for me at least than the otherwise melodramatic bits that happen in other works. Overall, I'd recommend ImaImo to any moege fan who wants a bit of drama but not too much as well as some comedy and a lot of cute moments but does not mind there being no H present in the story. If you're okay with the lack of 18+ scenes, then I think you'll come away from ImaImo happy. And as of writing this review the official English release of Koichoco is supposed to happen in a few days, so why not pick this up to read after - or before if you're a quick reader (it took me 18:54 in total)?

[KeroQ] Tsui no Sora (1999) Visual Novel Review (NSFW)
littleshogun commented on NadiaEros's blog entry in Visual Novels
I see that you tried the original Tsui no Sora there. While the remake was obviously refined the art (And have voices), the original design are mostly fine except for Yasuko with her original design is the least appealing to me. Speaking of Yasuko, her role in here at most is on Kotomi's perspective so at least it's still more than her appearance at Subahibi, although obviously SCA-JI didn't write Yasuko as one pf perspective character in the original. For the remake, besides the obvious Yasuko's perspective (And cuter design), I only spot a difference in the writing where Zakuro was about to be dead with the girls tried to calmed down Zakuro by saying the ritual stuffs was taken from the manga, which not exist in the original (And Subahibi). In the end, when it come to Tsui no Sora I would say that I probably prefer the remake, although I can see if you prefer the old version for some reasons (Whether it's just feel right or find the charm in the old art). If anything else, at least it's not as bad as the infamous OVA of Subahibi with the writer also wrongly wrote the circumstances surrounding Zakuro's death. -
This review may have spoilers, English mistakes and not very good writing, I apologize for that, English is not my first language. I have always been fascinated by the grotesque and the beauty of the horrible. “How bad can a human being be?”, “How far would we go just to satisfy ourselves?”. These questions have always intrigued me, especially when taken to the side between paraphilia and fetishes. As a big fan of this type of media, obviously I would become a fan of visual novels. It was only a matter of time before I discovered Euphoria, a game that truly explores how twisted someone's mind can be. I have completed this game three times, and each time I play it, it fascinates me more and more. Unfortunately (or fortunately for some), it received a Hentai adaptation and became popularized as one of the worst visual novels in existence. Of course, we all know that there are many worse ones, but Euphoria carries that title. The anime brings back more of the sexual and appealing aspects of the thing, which is not exactly the point that I admire the most. Shown in the animation and in the first part of the game (I mentally divide it into two parts, the part at the beginning and the part where the five games end), I was delighted with the way things were implemented, all around sex, desires that are not necessarily good, the awakening of the worst that we can be. The protagonist, from the beginning, "ignores" his lusts. Seeing the class representative dying painfully, with her body becoming weak to the point of releasing excrement, made him excited. It is at this point that the story begins. Our (not so much dear) Keisuke constantly thinks about raping the girls that are there, and, at several moments, he realizes how disgusting that is, that this was his biggest secret. In the Brute Route, he feels excited with thoughts of Kanae, his childhood best friend, being tortured, opened up, bleeding, being raped. I used to be a gore addict, addicted to seeing other problematic things too, inappropriate desires. Every addiction can be turned into something sexual. I'm certainly not proud of it, but the initial questions resonate loudly; how bad can we be with our desires? What's the fine line between not doing any of these things? How free can we be with this? For a long time, I thought Euphoria was really just about this questioning and this desire to explore and delve deeper into the disturbance of the human mind. To my surprise, after part one, the game becomes completely different. Speaking of the main routes, such as: Rinne, Nemu and Kanae (Brute), we discover that Keisuke is actually Rinne's "father", had a strong connection with Nemu before that game and Kanae just made up a lot of things through a virtual reality. I won't go into too much detail on this part, but I really shed a few tears over it. Keisuke and Nemu had something genuine, without malice. Keisuke, by himself, was a normal boy. It's exactly because of this part that I think it's too unfair to summarize Euphoria as just hentai/sex, rape and scat. It was a very well-crafted story full of details, something that really needs to be read more than once to understand. I believe and know that Euphoria is not just a fetish game to play while masturbating. During the game, I was reminded of several other visual novels as well, such as Danganronpa and Your Turn to Die (mainly because of the necklaces). Euphoria really caught me by surprise, because I had no idea what to expect when they left the white rooms, much less imagined that Kanae was posing as a childhood friend for evil scientific purposes. It's still hard to swallow that everything in the first part was projected by virtual reality. With the true ending, saving Nemu, I was moved by the tenderness of their relationship. This game, without a doubt, is incredible and had a big impact on me. I really get upset about the label it falsely carries, but I also understand that it's not something everyone can ingest. Thank you for reading my review. If you've read Euphoria and didn't like it, please give it a second chance with a different perspective. If you haven't read it and are curious, go ahead! But be careful, it deals with sensitive subjects. Be patient. Sometimes the candy only tastes sweet after the first bite.

Apocalypse – Genre Deep Dive
littleshogun commented on Pallas_Raven's blog entry in Towards The End Sky
Here's my belated comment on this topic. For the first point, I didn't find much example of the VN besides Muv Luv, although Swan Song here is the closest one. While it didn't have the monster overwhelming the Earth like Muv Luv, what we have in there is there's society chaos after very massive earthquake hit the town with the chaos is obviously because the nature of human who prioritize themselves in the admist of difficulties, and some of them became insane. It ended on hopeful note in the good ending, although it still fulfill the first point for the most part anyway. For the second point, well eden fit what you think with the humanity already launch a large scale plan to move on from the Earth because the Earth is about to be destroyed thanks to a mysterious Red Star while the human do a number of large scale wars causing the big towns to be destroyed. That said, our focus on eden is not on the humanity's exodus to the new planet, but instead the MC who was tasked to guard the artificial human that help the exodus plan, with the artificial human want to run on the empty Earth before its life expired. In the end, the MC decided to live in the empty Earth instead of join the exodus, so in a way eden did subvert the second point in regard of the MC moving on to the new place even though it technically follow after the end part. For the third point, Purple Software decided to try their hand into the story with Kunado Kokuki with them expanding kotodama setting from Amatsutsumi. In the setting, the civilization was attacked by the metal demon Tekki that could corrupt the metal into living being, and so the humanity force to build the house using the wood which in turn revert the civilization into old Japanese. The story start with the amnesiac MC Shin woke up from his slumber after the humanity defeat the strongest Tekki and somehow still has the knowledge of the old world, thus it fall to Shin to teach the knowledge to the humanity because they only know warfare which is really understandable seeing they need to keep fighting against Tekki in order to survive. Oh yes, the writer of Kunado is also eden's director, which is quite a coincidence even with both eden and Kunado has many difference when it come to write apocalypse story. That's all for what I can talk in regard of this topic. -
