I've settled for a midrange hunter to climb for now (currently at r15... the meta is really weird with a mix of meta decks and reno cthun rogues). If I hit a real wall I'll probably play zoo, though with imp-losion gone, a crucial unfair game swing from no board is harder. Kind of sad. Other than that, aggro shaman is always a contender, so I guess I'll play some of that as well lol. I never liked tempo mage all that much - always felt like a less cool tempo rogue deck, and no-minion screw really hurts - so I'm not sure if I'll play it much.

Calling someone a "Director" is kind of vague in this business, honestly. At least part of the directing job people have described above would probably be the producer's job in larger-scale game development. Checking the text for concision and such would traditionally be the editor's job in other writing. Scene direction (transitions, sprite pose changes etc.) can be done either by a dedicated guy or just the writers themselves - I'm not sure if this job has a well-established name, but you might call them scripters in this capacity (and that means something different in translation work... yay).

As you may or may not be aware, for a while now I have been waiting on a diagnosis, or lack of one, after a series of psychiatric evaluations. I started it due to suspicions of me having ADHD predominantly inattentive (also known as ADD). What transpired today was thus somewhat of a surprise: I did indeed receive a diagnosis – of Asperger Syndrome. It’s not all that easy to accept because, well, I never felt all that aspbergy. I’m not the best guy ever when it comes to socializing, but I’m not really super bad at it either and I don’t like, interpret idioms literally or totally make an arse of myself all that much. Lots of things /do/ fit, however, and I think the doctors are right. Especially the typical life story outlined, with a failure in uni studies, an outgoing early life but a descent into passivity when grown up… it all fits me to a T[1]. The one thing I’m thankful for is that I performed like a normal person in the video test where I was supposed to interpret people’s motivations and feelings based on a video I was shown. Apparently this is because I use my highly developed other skills to interpret information in a logical manner, allowing me to mimic the intuitive understanding exhibited by your average joe. Also a plus: my iq-penis is apparently in the top 2% of the population, to the point where if I tried to join MENSA I might be able to pass the test. Not that I see much point in doing that. A part of me really wants to be top 1% because that’s just a much prettier number somehow, but, uhh, I guess I’ll have to deal. Unfortunately my short-term memory and “speed”, whatever that means exactly, are significantly less above baseline than my other skills are. I can definitely agree with this assessment, and hopefully I’ll be able to learn how to compensate for this efficiently somehow. So where does this leave me? Well, apparently I have the right to… stuff that places can provide. And things. I feel pretty weird about like, taking courses in how to handle typical aspie problems – I feel like some people I see there might be much more hindered socially than me and thus a real bother to deal with. Is this unfair? Maybe. But given that this is something I’ll be doing voluntarily, it’s something I’ll have to think over. In any case, I’m meeting the people currently coordinating my efforts to get back into some form of occupation on the 28th, so I think I’ll take it from there. I actually have something I need to think about more before that visit, and hopefully I really will get it done… if only to not feel bad. That’s a pretty bad reason, but, uhh, results are all that matter right? …I should really try to mentally reframe it as something to benefit myself when I can. In conclusion, how I feel like right now is kind of like when I got diabetes – I’m really annoyed with this shit and will try my best to kick its ass. As for you all – all I can really say is, I still (probably) care about you even if I might occasionally seem not to. Feel free to remind me to think about your feelings on occasion, because I don’t necessarily do it automatically. The title is a lovely piece of bilingual wordplay. It may or may not make you groan if you figure it out. If you want a hint… the English word you seek is not politically correct. [1] ↑The Grammarist claims that “to a tee” is incorrect, but it’s in the bloody Cambridge English dictionary and all with no note of it being a misspelling or anything. I still like the form I use here the most, but while it grates on me to see the more teematic version, I can’t really correct it in good conscience. Yet another little annoyance that I will have to either get used to or suffer through to the end of my days, sigh. View the full article

Kikokugai -Reichin Rinrinshan- (all age remake)

I disagree. Well, you can always look up some for comparison I guess. -
Kikokugai -Reichin Rinrinshan- (all age remake)
Zakamutt replied to WinterfuryZX's topic in Visual Novel Talk
It's possible it's giving me this because I'm accessing it from sweden I guess, lol (yes, the japanese page says the same thing) The question of the versions is annoying. The full name of the remake's "regular" edition is 鬼哭街 -涙尽鈴音響- 通常版, with the middle buncha kanji signifying the remake. vndb doesn't list a regular edition for the old thing, but it's hardly impossible for there to be one... Also, you got the "first one" and "last one" mixed up, lol -
Kikokugai -Reichin Rinrinshan- (all age remake)
Zakamutt replied to WinterfuryZX's topic in Visual Novel Talk
International shipping isn't available for either of those, not sure what Zeno was smoking. Also not sure if either of those are the remake, to be honest. -
You know, the phrase you're looking for is not "objective" - it's "more objective". If you revise your terminology I'm sure you'll get shat on less.

Program for breaking down Kanji in real-time for VNs
Zakamutt replied to Hackrabbits's topic in Visual Novel Talk
There's a decent guide to this on these forums: There are more programs than it lists (ITHVNR and Chiitrans would be the main interesting ones, potentially also VNR), but the guide is decent. I think one of the links moved places and the new site is in japanese making the download harder to find, but it should be findable if you CTRL+F ダウンロード. -
Want to remove the score system from FuwaReviews?
Zakamutt replied to solidbatman's topic in Archive
To be honest, if you look at the "top rated" sidebar the results are pretty silly. I'd recommend removing that one. That said, I do like the scores as I can then just scroll down and see whether the reviewer had shit taste (if I've read it) or if it might be unexpectedly interesting (if it's a random oelvn and not reviewed by Palas). I don't actually want to read reviews for near anything I might actually read in the future as they always spoil to a degree. I may not be your target audience -
'Kay. I recommend Tokyo Babel. If you liked the battles in F/SN this has some cool stuff in that vein, a v. good translation, and the comedy isn't actually too bad either (and not overused too much). The setting is fascinating, based on Christian mythology - Hell has been flooded, Heaven's closed its gates and the few angels and demons left alive are left struggling to stay alive inside a floating cube of sorts. The only way to (maybe) fix the solution is to travel up inside the toward the top, but everyone - demons, angels, and humans alike - that's tried has gone insane, and furthermore then become "bosses" of each of the 7 layers to go through, trying to kill anyone heading upwards themselves.

Are there any English VNs with exceptional prose?
Zakamutt replied to Zodai's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Nah, the writing itself (aka the prose) must be altered for an optimal fit with the medium it inhabits. To give an example from more ""traditional"" media, a screenplay is hardly the same thing as a novel, but they are both written by, well, writers. -

With everyone having given you the customary advice, I'll do my usual thing and mention Actual Sunlight (Also on Steam, but I'm too lazy to add another link). Actual Sunlight is pretty close to a VN and has some nice NVL-style writing. It's also about a guy with crushing depression so you might be a bit out of it by the time you finish, but hey, that's part of the fun! I don't think it'll kill you if you're under 18 or anything though. -

About Me Leaving Fuwa [Unoriginal April Fools Clickbait]
Zakamutt replied to Zakamutt's topic in The Coliseum of Chatter
My Apologies; I didn't have sufficient arsedness for effort so I made it a pure shitpost instead. The idea was to provide a parody or something. Probably. I'll leave the shitposting to bats and ren next time unless it's something from fsg (´・ω・`)
