Forgetful Frank got a reaction from Anonalypse in Kyūkei Jikan(Break Time) [18+] Demo/Announcement
I'll give the demo a try sometime soon. It sounds pretty interesting, and for placeholder art, it's actually pretty decent. I look forward to seeing the finished digital designs in the future. Just keep up the good work.

Forgetful Frank got a reaction from Onodera Punpun in Favorite character accessories in VNs
I'd imagine that's just called a ribbon and it's tied in a specific way.
I don't know if this counts but...
I liked it when Michiru wore that cat on her head like an accessory for a while.

Forgetful Frank reacted to Cuddlebeam in Harem Protagonist [Animated, yo]
Hello! I'm Cuddlebeam and I strive to make amazing experiences and high quality via visual novels and dating sims! This is my game! (Steam Concepts page here! http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=645219968)
You are the Harem Protagonist! This is going to be an informal, humorous, fanservicey, dating sim game that will play on the tropes of the Harem genre.
Our story starts out with you being born into a new and fresh Harem Show. You're the main character, and oddly enough, you're aware of that. With the help of the Narrator - a semi-omnipresent voice that only you can hear (because protagonist privileges, bruh) you are now have the quest of conquering the hearts of several hot anime chicks.
Let's just hope that you're good enough for the challenge. Handling so many sweethearts won't be easy!

Forgetful Frank reacted to Gauzra in The Devil Is Not Home [18+] - Progress 8/31/16
Under development by EggDev.
Synopsis
Satan has urgent matters to attend to and must leave Hell!
He is unsure that the demons will properly live up to his expectations in his absence and be able to truly represent what Hell is. To remedy the situation he decides to issue a true test of demonic will power.
The Chaos Championship
An all out competition between the three highest ranking demons in Hell to see who can destroy and spread what Satan will deem as true Chaos. The victor is offered their very own circle of Hell to rule over. An entire domain personalized to their tastes, no request too large!
Faced with this irresistible offer, Jaya, Meridia and Kijo agree to undertake the challenge in order to prove which one of them is the greatest demon in all of Hell.
The Demons
Meridia
Resident bookworm and owner of the nicest hair in all of Hell. A stern believer in rules and an aspiring writer. (Rumor has it her books aren't very good) Her ghostly companion follows her wherever she goes and tries to keep her safe. (Emphasis on tries.)
She decides that using demons is the best way to win the Chaos Championship. What better way to raise Hell than using Hell itself?
Sprite
Jaya - (PROMO ART COMING SOON)
Brash and difficult to handle, Jaya acts before she thinks and has a huge appetite. Physically the strongest of all demons and she is usually seen bragging about it.
She decides to invade Heaven in an attempt to win the Chaos Championship.
Sprite
Kijo
The demon with the split personality. Incredibly lazy and always wanting to sleep. Everything is too much of a hassle and she has a difficult time controlling her sudden personality flips.
Ends up drawing the short straw and has to go to Earth in order to attempt to win the Chaos Championship.
Sprite
Other Characters Coming Soon!
The EggDev Team
We are a married couple that has dabbled in gamedev before. One day we decided to actually devote to it when we were able to afford a sandwich from our old crappy flash games.
Gauzra
In charge of all the writing/music and actual programming of the game. Fortunately I've got a bit of experience with audio and music and have worked in IT, giving me a somewhat rounded skill set.
Zombzilla
The in house artist. Been drawing since she was about 12 or 13 years old. Huge work load on her for all art assets but we are progressing at a rapid pace. Additionally responsible for ghost writing and catching any mistakes I make. (There are a lot of them.)

We are planning on completing an 18+ version and a SFW version that will be hopefully releasable on Steam. There is also the possibility of taking our idea to kickstarter but there are no solid plans for that in place yet. At least not until we have more completed CG's and are further along production.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this!
Stay tuned!

Forgetful Frank reacted to Okarin in Download of anime/VN soundtracks
Hey, I need more music in my arsenal, so I was wondering. Know any good site to download soundtracks? Can be from anime, or VN.
Preferably legal: I don't mind if I have to pay regular Apple/Play Store prices, but it should be digital download since getting the records from half the globe away would be a nightmare.

Forgetful Frank reacted to Nandemonai in Nocturnal Illusion Renewal Translation Project
Introduction
Hello, Fuwanovel.
I am Nandemonai. Yes, the same Nandemonai from the PP/Jast forums, and the Mangagamer forums (back when they had forums). A few years ago, I found out that the NI Renewal version is a thing, with improved gfx and voice acting. Since Nocturnal Illusion is still my favorite game translated in the early years, I was interested. I have some Japanese skills, so I thought I'd try my hand at translating the updated scenes. This wasn't possible for two reasons. 1) The remake breaks the scenes up into completely different file structure than the original; and 2) The original translation is just terrible. Mostly unusable, and basically unsalvagable. I'd known it wasn't very good, but was still surprised at just how "not good" it really was.
Long story short, I decided to re-translate the entire game from scratch. That was in 2011. I finished up the translation some time ago. Unfortunately, the coders I was relying on to reinsert the translation seem to have dropped off the face of the earth.
The Team
6/26/2016 Thanks to Ryechu for agreeing to be an editor!
7/10/2016 A (belated) thanks to Mad Pierre mnakamura for agreeing to do the port.
Well, to be honest? Right now (6/19/2016) there is no "team", there's just me. However, I did not reach this point all by myself.
I would like to thank Kagami-sensei for generously assisting me in translating various lines that were giving me trouble. Kagami has touched < 1% of the lines of the game, but they're all the hard lines. Thank you very much.
I would like to thank the folks over at vilevn.org - BaSF, Fenris, and kile. Without their assistance, this effort would have gone nowhere. They showed me how to extract the text from the original Nocturnal Illusion. They extracted the text from the remake (which involved finding existing tools, and then fixing bugs in them when they didn't work right). They sadly seem to have vanished. The last communication I had from them was in 2014, where they hoped to have a new version of vile ready "in a few months". Thank you guys very much for all the hard work.
Progress
Translation: 100%
Editing: 50% Let's break this out. Initial editing pass: (by me) 100% Second pass (by Ryechu Darklord Rooke): 24.9% 71.0% Last updated: 07/04/2018
Coding: Need Humanity (0%)
This project is now recruiting. I need coders capable of getting the remade script inserted into something that runs on modern Windows. Also, while I did a second pass of the translation and edited on the way, it probably needs real editors.
Update: In the rollback, an edit to this post got lost. Ryechu and Darklord Rooke have agreed to edit this, and Mad Pierre mnakamura has agreed to port the game to an engine he is working on.
Misc
Q. Didn't you say the translation is at 100%? Why 99%?
A. Yes, but there are a few minor nits that - since I'm creating this page anyway - I might as well try to crowdsource some picks for. More details to follow when I have time to post them.
As it turns out, I was able to figure these out myself.
Q. What about licensing? Doesn't Peter Payne have Nocturnal lllusion?
A. Indeed he does, and I approached him about an official release. He informed me he hasn't got rights to the remake. (I presume the original contract is somehow still good, but the remake needs rights that can't be gotten because the company hasn't existed in 15 years. But Peter didn't say.) Peter did say a fan patch was okay with him.

Forgetful Frank reacted to mnakamura in Reverse engineering visual novels: the basics
Hi, fellow VN explorers,
I've just published an article on basic reverse engineering of unknown file formats of visual novels.
It requires little technical knowledge (actually, everything except for the optional latest part can be done without programming) and it tackles the basic process of discovering information about simple container format and exploring its structure to extract files from a game archive.
Hope it would be useful Feel free to ask any questions.

Forgetful Frank reacted to Rime in -Some kind of introductory thing-
So, I'm Rime. I've been at least somewhat involved in anime for many years, but not too long ago I moved into the visual novel scene as well. I've been studying the language for... a while... and do some translation stuff.
I've only read a few VNs, but I intend to steadily add more to my list and decided that it was about time to register here ;_;
Aside from that, I generally enjoy computer/gaming stuff and in particular, puzzles.
よろしく and all that business.

Forgetful Frank got a reaction from Khazit in Reflect on your VN History!
And then you have me:
Started reading VN's late December 2015 with If My Heart Had Wings. Found Fuwanovel in January 2016 after finding out about and hunting down a restoration patch for IMHHW. Befriended some cool Fuwa-spammers who helped me out a lot with recommendations. Fast-forward several months, it's now July 2016 and I made the mistake of starting too many VN's and now I'm all over the place. I'll bounce back and get through this, though!
And then I'll start one VN at a time, or maybe have two simultaneously at most.

Forgetful Frank reacted to Narcosis in Recent miko kitsune heroine VN, Tenkiame
Okay, I wanted to respond earlier, but got swamped with work.
I'm glad to see another fan of kitsune and miko outfits~
It just so happens I've actually bought Tenkiame a while ago and I'm loving every second of it. I have to admit, when I came upon the first news about the game, I instantly feel in love with it and couldn't wait for release. The game had that something special - perhaps it was the setting, characters and quality; maybe it was the overall atmosphere (the game is quite similiar to Monobeno in that manner), or a mixture of all of them. At first glance you might think it's no different than any moege, but this game is actually a classic, laidback slice of life romance drama with japanese folklore and supernatural elements. You may argue it's not really that special - and that might be true, as decent the game remains, but it's incredibly good at what it aims to be. Right now I am certain Sun Shower is definately the best August release and possibly, one of the best vn's released in a longer while.
Regarding translation... I was curious myself, therefore I took the game apart. To be honest, Sun Shower really deserves to be translated and I'd be glad to see that happen as well. On the other hand, I'm not really the kind of person, that sits doing nothing; especially, when it's about things I adore. In the end, I decided to give it a try.
And this is the result:
Some screenshots I did during the testing, along with a quick translation.
It didn't took me long to figure it out. Game uses SystemC along with E-mote plugin for the live animations. I'll be honest - Tenkiame would be incredibly easy to translate. The only troublesome thing I found about the game was the data repacking, but I guess nothing's impossible when you're so madly in love with your resident fox girls. So yeah, here you have it. Unfortunately, I don't really feel proficient enough to tackle the translation myself, but I'm willing to help anyone serious enough to start a translation project.
Aside from that, Tenkiame has literally everything I need:
Kitsune + cheerful imouto + sweet older sister + shrine maiden outfits + countryside + folklore
Is this how true happiness looks like?

Forgetful Frank reacted to bronx819 in Recent miko kitsune heroine VN, Tenkiame
So a few days ago, as I was scouring the interwebz, I came across this interesting looking VN called Tenkiami. The description on vndb is a bit lacking so I don't know what the story is about, but the two heroines (only two) are miko kitsunes, one pettanko and one kyonyuu.
Here's the link: https://vndb.org/v17337
I'm a fan of kitsunes and noticed a lack of VN's with kitsunes as the main heroines, translated ones anyway. I mainly wanted to put this out there in case there were any miko kitsune fans who wanted to try their hand at translating this. I don't know how to check the spript size so I can't say how long it is, if anyones interested then maybe someone can start a project for this? I don't have the time to help since I'm working and training for the military (all I'd be able to do is proofread or edit anyway) but if this gets translated I'd be very happy~
