You make a good point. I'll sleep over this tonight and consider if I change my views on damp towels.
-
Confession: I find towels to dry one's hands in to be utterly unhygienic. Towels in general, really. Their very purpose is to absorb the uncleanliness. But if that's how it goes it should only have one use and then it would necessitate to be washed. Unfortunately, hand towels in my house are used countless times before they're washed.

Piss off Fuwanovel in one sentence

Confession: My sister locked herself out of our house and the key was in the keyhole from the inside. Other than my sister, nobody else was at home at the time (except the dog). This means we had no way of getting in. Thankfully, a door which isn't locked is pretty useless. With a bit of strong plastic we were able to force the door to open and get back inside. She claims she won't leave the key on the door any more.

Finished the first season of Chihayafuru. Hmm... To start with what I loved, the character diversity. Many of the characters in their group seemed like the sort of character and designs that would make them antagonists or secondary/almost extra characters. Not almost primary like they all were. Additionally, there was a surprising variety of characters and play-styles. I could tell the "desk-guy" is especially strong in the "let me play against him 5 times and I can explain his play-style and flaws in detail" department -- he just needs to become better at exploiting the information itself. The Queen has a profound love for the cards, not the syllables, and wastes no movement, hitting the cards only where she needs so they fly off. The traditional clothing girl also doesn't focus on the syllables, but associates meaning to them. This creates a strong defensive play and makes her karuta unpredictable to the opponent. Chihaya is not strategically minded at all, and her karuta is heavily based on her emotions and state. She's able to distinguish first syllables which would normally sound the same when she gets used to the reader and she's fast. When she gets into a "groove", she'll keep on charging on. However, it's easy to break her concentration and spirit. She also at some point learnt to time her movements so as to avoid faults. The Pork guy got overshadowed. We hardly saw any of his games and we only know that he's good, but only up till the lower levels of Class-A. Taichi is a master of concentration and memorisation, and he also has some strategic ability. He just lacks speed willpower for the most part. The master seems like a better version of Chihaya. We also don't know much about Arita (is that his name?); he is fast and can tell what the best plays should be in any given situation. Can't really say much about him. Chihaya's teacher specialises in destroying the oponent's mental state. Chihaya unwittingly manages this with her speed and good sense. Considering this is a game where "speed" is one of the most important aspects, they managed a lot of variety. I didn't like it when we get to the point of "this person is the fastest there is" and then an "even faster person" is introduced, and then a third "fastest person" shows up and that kind of thing. It's kind of unavoidable, but this is mostly a nitpick exclusive to me. I'll actually continue on to the second season. I'm hoping for two things: A conclusion, and new members for the club. I actually hope they either throw the romance aspects out of the window or get them over with. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'd much rather this show had no romance. It somehow feels jarring to me.

I change my avatar pretty often, so you chaps should have no issues by now, right?

Finished Hitsugi no Chaika and its second season. Another fantasy/medieval story I liked. This one felt modern, though, unlike Scrapped Princess. It once again tackled some themes I liked and how happy I was we got the protagonist we did. I can elaborate, but I dislike spoiling things. Now starting Chihayafuru. Took me a while to warm up to it, but I'm ready now. In that respect, it's kind of like Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu. In fact, from the first three episodes alone it seems they may have a few things in common, and include some "feels" in their repertoire. But I don't really know yet. Will have to continue watching.

Allow me to explain my logic in detail. By writing and sending massive quantities of sarcastic letters "to Santa", I will be giving more work to the various institutions who take and read letters by children expressing their hopes and dreams. By giving them more, unnecessary and sarcastic work, I will therefore be "naughty". By being naughty, Santa will not need to come all the way to my house in order to give me a gift -- he only does so to nice children. In this manner, I am saving Santa's time and effort. Ergo, I'm being nice. As I'm being nice, Santa will then come and give me a gift. I believe that my plan is efficient and flawless, and will put it in action starting this year. I know you can't help but be worried about me, but don't worry. Your concern is welcome but unneeded. Oh, yeah, forgot about the desktop picture thingie. Still the same as last time. Here's the same picture and everything:

If we were playing on Vita, I'm pretty sure that UI would render us unable to see the backgrounds and characters. The UI alone would occupy the screen wholly. Aside from that, this looks excellent from what little I've seen, though some further investigation is in order. Rather unfortunate they've had no marketing to speak of.

Just finished the "Scrapped Princess". Like it a lot. Managed to tackle various heavy themes without getting all edgy or dark on us. Excellent all around. Starting Hitsugi no Chaika.

The spirit of an older gamer: Why I play games and why other people play games
Mr Poltroon commented on Clephas's blog entry in Clephas' VN home
Online games? Ha! I'm too slow to keep up with other people, and apparently I don't "take things seriously enough". The best evidence of this is how much I love RTS's... yet how I only play them in singleplayer. Perhaps the most recent examples are the Company of Heroes games, which I've played hundreds of hours of, and never even tried multiplayer. Well, I did try. I was useless. Nobody was very happy with me. The usual. In other genres there's stuff like the Total War games which have an online component... hardly ever used it. My ventures into Call of Duty online consisted mostly of standing around being useless trying to support teamates... only to realise everyone's a bloody lone wolf. Okay, I'll go back to the older games' singleplayer campaigns. Fine. I'll eventually try out the Battlefield games, too. When I can convince myself to fork over the money and time for one. -
Started watching "Scrapped Princess". Feels sort of like "modern old" anime. It feels like old anime -- the kind of stuff that would air when I was a kid -- but having aired in 2003 it's relatively recent. ...Not that 2003 is particularly recent. Geez, any year this millennium feels recent to me.

Finished watching Hagure Yuusha no Estetica. As overpowered as advertised. It was great. The fanservice irked me a bit, but I suppose it was bearable.

I was somewhat curious about this myself, so I went to take a look. As the music is very atmospheric all throughout, it doesn't seem like the sort of music where you'd be able to make out what's being said even if it were pronounced properly. The vocals are used more like instruments, making noise. EDIT: With Decay pointing me in the right direction, I can now confirm the Portuguese sounds about as good as you'd expect, assuming your expectations were beyond modest. Sometimes one can make out what's being said -- that's already pretty good for Japanese people. What this whole thing succeeds at, though, is making me wonder why the hell this title has Portuguese vocals in the first place.

22 million women played otome dating apps in 2014
Mr Poltroon replied to Darklord Rooke's topic in Visual Novel Talk
Well, I'm comfortably within the Otome target zone. In fact, if I were to arbitrarily distinguish VN's based on their H content, Otome are on the top of non-H content for me. -
I've never been one to appreciate quality. The best way I can generally describe my tastes is as "I like what I like... and I tend to like romance/comedy moeblobs". Now, one thing I can definitely note is that I always prefer longer VN's over shorter ones. Regardless of quality. If it's good, but short, I won't enjoy it. I'll be left unsatisfied. If it's mediocre, but long, then I'll enjoy it. If it's good, and long, even better. I don't tend to like stuff I don't like, no matter the length. This initial view has been somewhat skewed as I started quality checking VN's: VN's are way too long. Wow. When I have to actually pay attention to everything I'm reading, it's like my time investment triples.

Double post! Because I'm evil like that. The case has been updated. One of the endings changes slightly. -
Ace Attorney Fan Case: "A Laggy Turnabout"

The case has been temporarily taken down as I conduct general bugfixing and other such nonsense. -
I want Winged Cloud to make good games. I want any developer to make good games. Playing good games (or VN's) is my (the consumer's) ultimate objective. Regardless of their past record, this title appears to be written decently, in that it is easy to comprehend what is being said. The art seems to be the same as always, though I never understood why people like the art so much anyway, and the music also sounds good. Assuming the dungeon segments are not terrible, and by that I mean that there should be a sense of progression, then I have no reason not to buy this game. I will wait and observe for a little long- Wait, they use British spelling?! *buys*

Hey, Maths is great. I was fantastic at maths in middle school. I could, like, solve equations and things. Same goes for History, which is incredibly interesting (unless it's about art) and Languages heavily depend. Some books we worked with in class were interesting... or I think they were at the time, anyway.

I also agree. Famine is great. I lost like 20 kilos in 2 weeks.

Alternatively, the obvious reason: Mock the people who use it and criticise social media as usual.

I would think you'd prefer to clock in 9 hours, 9 minutes and, who knows, 9 seconds, perhaps?
