DarkZedge Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 So in short I made this thread to see what your favorite vn developers are and towards that purpose I ask you guys to make a top three developers and why they're your favorites along with your favorite vn by them (untranslated or translated). To start with the right foot I'll name my top three picks. Innocent Grey - Developers of Cartagra and the Kara no Shoujo series, their great pacing, mystery and simply amazing art style place them at the top of my list. Love them, plain and simple Clock-Up - They've made Euphoria and Eroge!, I admit that while I haven't read things like Maggot Baits (Which I wish one day I'll be able to) I really enjoyed what I've played from them. Yuzusoft - Do I really need to elaborate here? Dracu-Riot! and Noble☆Works, I quite like their romance and comedy that goes along with a good story and art style as well. Well that's about it for my top three and I ended up leaving out other ones that I really liked, Minatosoft, Moonstone, Overdrive, Navel among some of them. Now I ask you guys, what's your top three developers and why as well as some examples of vn's they've made if you want to. As always thanks for your input and have fun. melo4496, Dergonu and Makudomi 3 Quote
Dergonu Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Alright. For me it has to be: 1) Fuguriya/ Sei Mikaeru Joshi Gakuen, because Sono Hana. The games might not be the best plot wise, but for a dirty old Yuri fag like myself, they are great. Nuff said 2) Clock Up. I wasn't really sure what to expect when I first started playing Euphoria, and it just blew my mind. After that I have played some of their other games, and loved them. They make a lot of dark stuff, which I like, the art in most of the games is really great, (Maggot Baits art = porn in itself,) and the games have good writing. They take their games very seriously, both in the art departement and the story departement, despite the fact that many might brand the games as disgusting and worthless nukige at first glance. 3) I'd have to say Navel, mainly because I just love the Shuffle! series, and those games were one of the reasons why I got into VNs. I love their art style and their characters, (despite the fact that they all look the same ) Shuffle! Wasn't the first eroge I played, but it was the first one I actually heard about, quite some time ago now, so when I started playing VNs I quickly jumped into it and loved it. Their games might not be uber deep or anything, but I really enjoyed the ones I have played. Hard to name just 3, but those are some of my favorites at least. DarkZedge 1 Quote
Ariurotl Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 OVERDRIVE, Nitroplus, Akabei Soft 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 78. Silvz and TexasDice 2 Quote
Gaporigo Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Key, everything they make is perfection. ClockUp is also pretty good. Quote
Rose Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 I guess Nitroplus and Propeller would be my current favorites. Looking forward to improving my JP to read more stuff from them and add Light to the list. LiquidShu 1 Quote
Amuzie Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Eushully is a very good one. Akabei soft is also alright (all of them except 293) But the crown must go to the masters of VNs NekoWorks. DarkZedge 1 Quote

WinterfuryZX Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Chunsoft, they are the most creative and influencing studio ever. 5bp, awesome sci-fi games like the science adventure saga, dunamis15 and disorder6 07th expansion, rk7 is one of my favorite author Age, muv-luv saga DarkZedge and ヤミハナ 2 Quote
Turnip Sensei Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Liar-soft is easily my favorite, although mostly for Sakurai's Steampunk series. That said, I also really liked Yurirei and Forest, and their other stuff like Kusarihime or Fairytale Requiem seem like something I would enjoy. I really appreciate their little atypical and more sensitive approach. Nitro+ and Type-Moon have also my heart for making few of the best VNs I've read. Quote
akaritan Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 1. 07th expansion. They have yet to make something that I don't love, and their soundtracks are always fantastic. 2. Nitroplus. Their games tend to have excellent production value, and they've made some if the best visual novels to date. 3. Liar-soft. Their games, from what I've seen, tend to be very stylized, and the aesthetics and tone of their games are usually very pleasing. ヤミハナ 1 Quote

BookwormOtaku Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Innocent Grey: Make good murder mystery games. Fav: Kara no Shojo Waffle: Showed me even nukige can have good stories and characters. Fav: Kyonyuu Fantasy Gaiden 2 Minatosoft: Their games make for very good light reading. Fav: Tie between Majikoi and Tsujidou-san no Junai Road Honorable Mentions: Black Cyc: Back when they made good games (here's hoping the new Extravaganza game will be good) I used to watch their pages like a hawk, anticipating what the next game would be. The reason is they told some really enjoyable dark stories that would have at least one satsifying conclusion. Fav: Tie between MinDead Blood and Gun Katana Type Moon: Because of how awesome their universe is. Honorable mention until/if that Tsukihime remake comes out. Fav: Fate/Stay Night Speed: As far as I can tell, the only ones who managed to create a good zombie eroge series...until Ball Buster Fav: Kansen 3 XReaper and LiquidShu 2 Quote
vkalvkal Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Elf (Boku no Kanojo..., Kawarazaki-ke 2, Ningen Debris) - The company that turned me into a netorare fan. LiLiM (Triangle Blue, True Blue, Dark Blue) Lune Team Bitters (Sore de mo, Kanojo ga Mimai, Marriage Blue) Alice Soft, Anim and Orcsoft to a lesser extent... XReaper 1 Quote
Huguito748 Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 OVERDRIVE: Deardrops & Kira-Kira | I liked deardrops a lot because it's kind of my genre, I like music so... yeah makes sense. Those guitar solos and violin solos were awesome, The only thing I hated in DEARDROPS was Kanade (not her voice but rather her personality.) Kira-Kira on the other hand had a better plot, maybe? Both VN felt similar but, I think it'd be unfair to compare them so I'm gonna stop here, both of them are great. Key: Clannad, Rewrite. Little Busters! | Man, I loved rewrite's plot, I remember it took me 3 weeks to finish it (reading it everyday.) Clannad... well it wasn't bad but I wish I had skipped this one, the anime was better. Little busters!, at first I thought it was boring but when the minigames started I had a blast, and when I got into Yuiko's route it got much better and then I just loved her true ending, like seriously it was great. Akabei Soft 2: G-Senjou no maou, I wasn't expecting much from this one until I really started to get the plot, after that I couldn't stop smirking through the whole story it was brilliant, well, it did have its flaws here and there, especially some... no, all the H-scenes felt like a waste but other than that, it was great. Eushully: Kamidori Alchemy meister, this is one of the best s-rpg I've played so far, I really enjoyed it. The only flaw is that you can't skip dungeons and all that crap after finishing one route, yeah... who'd want to play again for more than 50 hours... Others: Minatosoft, Leaf, Nitroplus, 5pb and many more. Quote

DEARDROPS and Kirakira are similar in the same way that thrash metal and jazz are similar, because they're both music, right? Comparisons between the two are something of a pet peeve of mine, cause if you're doing exactly that, you're pretty much admitting that you didn't "get" at least one of them (usually it's Kirakira). They seem alike, but the essence and the message couldn't be more different. Quote
suikashoujo Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 1. Key 2. Key 3. Key 4. Overdrive (killer soundtracks, fun stories, and unique but nice art) 5. Akabei Soft 2 (Sharin and G-Senjou are some of my favorite VNs, A Profile wasn't bad either) Quote
Silvz Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 07th Expansion <3 Key is good, way better nowadays, but it is not as good as it is hyped Liar-Soft also has a special place in my heart. Not only the What a Beautiful series, but every game I've played from them are memorable in a good way. oh, I should mention the group who made No, thank you!!! IIRC, it was their first game as a company and [even if it weren't] all they did in it made the reading experience perfect. And the artist <33333 Quote
Flutterz Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 1. Key 2. 07th Expansion 3. uhh... I suppose Akabei Soft2 and whatever other names they go by have some pretty great stuff Quote
