FruitsPunchSamurai Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Taking a break from digital devil saga to play this. The first Tales of Symphonia has the best dub in a tales game imo. Don't know about dawn of the new world since I haven't played it yet. I suck at taking pictures I know. Quote

DotNW has some of the best jokes IMO but a lot of people don't like it.  Mostly due to Laura Bailey's extremely shrill voice as Marta.  And Emil.  Here's a good example of all of them:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMWbveL1da8  Playing through Catherine again for the other endings, and still working through Persona 4 Golden Yes and Yes. Quote
madvanced Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Played a ton of Persona 4 today. I quit when I got to Shadow Yumiko, since I had to do something, but man, that was fun. What are you thinking of P4 so far? Quote
Stray Cat Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 What are you thinking of P4 so far? I would guess he thinks highly of it judging by the Brosuke avatar. Quote
madvanced Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Well, I think it's pretty damn fun. Kinda hard to find a decent source of info only about Persona 4, not Persona 4 Golden, so that's been a little irritating, but other than that, I've been having a blast. I've been balancing the social aspects decently, I think, and I saved right before fighting Shadow Yumiko on Day 28. Not quite sure how to go around beating her, since she wiped the floor with me. I haven't tried to fuse personas or use another persona besides Izanagi. Any tips? I think I have Slime and Angel from Shuffle Time, and possibly a few others I don't remember.  Brosuke is epic. Yosuke Strike = OP. Use Personas that have Bufu(ice skill) since Shadow Yukiko(not Yumiko this ain't Grisaia ^^) is weak to ice, be careful when using chie because of her weakness to fire. If you can try to fuse a persona to be strong against fire attacks and be able to use bufu. Don't forge to use the compendium to register personas to summon them alter for fusing/using/etc.. Quote
madvanced Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Damn, why must those two names be so similar? Dx  Okay, thanks. I've been kinda wary about fusing, since the description Igor gave me basically said, "If you fuse two personas together that don' have the same the same fighting style, it's gonna suck". Is that true? Haven't looked up much about it. What you must notice when fusing is the inherited skills, they appear in red. They don't level up by fusing but by the S. Link level(and fighting ofc), so for example a level 1 Fool S.link would give a 1 level bonus(roughly) to any Fool persona you are fusing. The rest doesn't matter for shit. Quote

Here's a few good pointers: Fuse personas that you have a high social link rank in.  You get bonus EXP and the persona levels up once for every odd number of levels.  You can equip fused personas that are higher than you're own level, which can be an advantage. SP is everything, conserve if possible. I tried to do dungeons as soon as they were available for 2-3 days and then used the rest of the time to max social links.  I think it's the best approach.  Make sure you have Go-homo items to exit (you can return to the same floor the next day). Buffing skills are your best friend.  Dekaja is your very best friend.  Yosuke has both of them, therefore he is your very very best friend. Boost and Amp skills do stack. Try to keep a balanced party (aka not all weak to the same element).  As you probably know, knocking down is key and getting knocked down is a sure way to lose quickly.  Guarding can prevent this and eventually you'll get items to increase dodge rates. The game ends in December for the most part and most social links stop then as well so plan accordingly. Do the Justice and Heriophant social links as fast as you can. Quote
Zhiroo Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Just finished Persona 4. What an amazing game. Story wise I liked Persona 3 FES (Which I played and finished last week) a bit more but everything else was better especially the gameplay, love that I could control all the characters now although the AI seemed pretty smart in exploiting weaknesses in P3. Â And coincidentally I named my character Yuu without even remembering the name he had in the anime (which I have seen when it came out) Â I don't have a PSVita to play P4 Golden so next I'm gonna play SMT: Digital Devil Saga series and SMT: Nocturne. (I played using the PS2 emulator for PC ) Stray Cat 1 Quote

(I played using the PS2 emulator for PC ) I feel like everyone's AI experience was different.  For me, Yukari and Junpei did everything I wanted them to do, Mitsuru was Mitsuru and Aigis and Akihiko did the dumbest things I could image.  But I've heard cases of it being the reverse.   I'm currently going back and playing all the story modes I never finished in P4 Arena so that I'm ready for the new game. Quote
LiquidShu Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Btw the Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare tried it out on PC for free. The game was fun for about the first 3 hours... After that it was rinse and repeat and not the fun kind. Quote
LiquidShu Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Yeah, that's kinda what I thought it would be like. Watched a few reviews, and some of the character class abilities looked pretty fun, but everything else has pretty much already been done before. Was I right about it seeming to be a combination of CoD and TF2 with a PvZ re-skin? Kinda curious.    More like Gotham City Impostors than anything. Which by the way was an amazing shooter PvZ just doesn't pull off the vibe. Quote
madvanced Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 (..)Make sure you have Go-homo items(..) I'm sorry stray cat but I couldn't over look this hilarious typo. An item to make you go homo. XD It's actually called Goho-M. Stray Cat and LiquidShu 2 Quote
madvanced Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 When sleeping with chicks just starts to get boring...use Go-Homo! It changes your sexuality in under a day!* Remember, when you're tired of being straight, think of Go-Homo!  Go-Homo: It really will turn you gay!™  *Claims not evaluated by the FDA.  Kinda figured it'd be hit-or-miss with the PvZ theme. *MC and Brosuke both take a dose of Go-Homo* Quote
solidbatman Posted August 26, 2014 Author Posted August 26, 2014 Walking Dead Season 2 Episode 5 tonight if the servers stop acting up. Also a little over halfway done in my second Catherine play through. Ice blocks are a pain in the ass. I'll likely pick Drakengard 3 back up once I finish Catherine. Quote

Just realized that now (I'm usually good with typos too).  According to Freud, my subconscious must be trying to tell me something.  Zeno will find this a lot funnier once he plays a few more hours. Quote
madvanced Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Doesn't the game let you choose to be gay or not? Apparently, that was taken to be serious commentary on Japan's stance towards homosexuality. The Wikipedia page made me laugh. That was more regarding P3 for the psp, in P4 you will know what stray cat is talking about when you meet a certain someone, I wont say anything else to avoid spoilers. Quote

P1 is terrible IMO I wouldn't bother.   IS, on the other hand is amazing.  I would actually say it's the darkest of all the stories.  I haven't had time to play EP yet but I've heard it's just as good.  I'm pretty sure you need to play them in order to get it.  Also, why does Ken still sound 10?  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GLsWlXQHYs Quote

madvanced Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Do you mean English or Engrish? From what I've heard, a lot of older Japanese games that got translated had horrible English. Like, Zero Wing bad, and that's pretty atrocious. From what I remember it could be considered english. But I played it years ago. Quote

Also gives a really special scene before the walkers happened. Quote
