So, about Getchu & co. not taking Visa & Mastercard anymore...

I noticed that just recently, but apparently this is an ongoing problem for a number of Japanese VN stores for at least half a year now.
From the little info I could find about that topic so far, essentially the following happened:

Visa & Mastercard: "You're selling porn and therefore you're evil. And evil guys pay double fees for our service."
Getchu & Co.: "You see that middle finger?! Then we just suspend your service on our site, so you get nothing at all! Hah, take that!!"
Visa & Mastercard: "Now you did it. TRADE WAR!!!"

And as amusing as that little feud might be for an outsider, it's still getting a bit annoying. I think paying with Visa on Amazon.jp still works, but they don't have everything Getchu sells.

So anyone has some more information how long those squabblers still intend to play kindergarten?

Visa and Mastercard just want to pull fees from anyone they can get them from.  They get slapped down every ten years or so in the US for sneaking illegal fees in, so it is no surprise they would be inflating fees in Japan.

Imo, Visa and Master will stop supporting companies which are offering P0rn in the long term. Just remember a few years ago when they terminated the service contract with MindGeek: https://www.reuters.com/business/finance/mastercard-visa-suspend-ties-with-ad-arm-pornhub-owner-mindgeek-2022-08-04/

I guess they will end up like PayPal and just prohibit selling Porn in their TOS at some point.

Hm, the incident with MindGeek seems to be more related to the fact that child porn content made it on their site. That goes way beyond just blocking porn in general. And even PayPal isn't doing that. If I remember MangaGamer's explanation right, they were just forbidden to offer some of their content also for free like demos and such.
