MikeTheShadowSage Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Hello everyone! I usually just lurk around here, but I figured I'd join up soon. Anyways that's for another topic, why I am posting here is simply because one of the forums (found here) is making Chrome cry out MALWARE. Probably a false alarm, but I wanted to bring it to your attention anyways! Pic: Anyways even if I've been completely useless here, I am just trying to help out! Quote
Steve Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Chrome "malware protection" is just broken, it detects all kinds of stuff, even torrents. You can disable it in the settings (and it is highly recommended). MikeTheShadowSage 1 Quote

Mephisto Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 One of the links has probably been compromised, leading to the warning. It probably is legit, since it's not impossible for a website linked there to be compromised. Quote
Steve Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Yes but what is and isn't "compromised" is the broken part as it is determined by google, it marks torrents and some warez as malware even though its just warez, so one of the sites might have a link to download of the Japanese learning book for free and google is bitching about it. Ebooks are a big part of warez and google doesn't like it for some reason xD Interesting is that in some other topics I linked to torrent or mediafire download of some of the Japanese learning books and it didn't report that and this does even though it even has links to amazon xD So just like antivirus will delete your files from cracked games or English patched visual novels, this google malware thing will detect completely safe websites - and as such its better to get rid of both xD Quote
Star Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 it was picking it up from someone's image I believe, as it linked to a site connected to maleware so Google just blocks the whole page from loading Quote
forum Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 That sometimes happen when an advert links to a malware or phishing site. But seeing fuwanovel is free from ads, I'd say its just a false positive, or possibly your dns might be compromised. Local ISPs are often times subjected to attacks with some chance of exploits making through. Try to use OpenDNS or GoogleDNS and see if chrome still acts up. Quote
Kaguya Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Happened to me as well. I discovered the cause was an image linked directly from booru. Well, fuwa is safe, so it should be fine. Quote
