Yuuko 1679 Posted August 15, 2015 Regarding that ITH doesn't work, it actually does work for me. I had to turn off Avast and it runs fine. I think I have the Windows Defender off too so I guess you have to turn off all antivirus stuff off so it works. Quote
SanadaShadow 78 Posted August 15, 2015 Could compatibility become an issue with, y'know, forced updates and all? Quote

I've seen multiple reports that ITH doesn't work in Win10 from people who've successfully used it in the past. I'll need confirmation from others that they got it to work in 64-bit Windows 10. Quote

Yeah it didn't work for me either and I had the same problem as them probably but if I turn all antivirus off, it works. I'm on 64-bit Windows 10 so idk, weird. Quote

I asked some technically minded people on the HongFire forums who are active users of ITH, and they say ITH is definitely broken in Windows 10. Just because it works for 30min or so doesn't mean it's working correctly. Apparently it commits memory access violations that eventually cause it to stop working. Source Quote
Yuuko 1679 Posted August 17, 2015 Okay seems like the newest Windows 10 update fucked it up for me... but not completely. It cannot hook new games anymore but it can hook games which I have made it hook automatically by adding profile. You just now need to add the profile manually to the ITH_profile.xml Would appreciate if you or someone else could try this too. Quote
sanahtlig 1599 Posted August 17, 2015 There's really no reason to keep trying to defibrillate a dying program. ITHVNR is a suitable alternative with greater compatibility. The only downside is that you can't view game profiles or launch games within the application. If your workaround sacrifices that functionality, there really is no reason to cling to ITH anymore. You're welcome to post in that HongFire thread I linked and make suggestions, but from the discussion I've seen ITH has fundamental programming issues that hinder it from working in Windows 10. People much more familiar with the program than you or me (including a guy who has helped maintain it in the past) have dismissed the issue as hopeless without the aid of a programmer to actually fix the engine code. That's credible reason for me to give up hope (or at least not upgrade to Win10 for a while). If the ITHVNR guy would reimplement the profile interface I'd really have no reason to stick with ITH anymore. Quote
Yuuko 1679 Posted August 17, 2015 Yeah, I recommend using ITHVNR on win10 but for some reason it hooks every single one of my games wrongly so I'm still clinging to ITH. Maybe my laptop is just weird since it works well on my pc lol. Of course using ITHVNR which is still getting updates is clearly a better choice. Quote
sanahtlig 1599 Posted August 17, 2015 Maybe the junkware on your laptop is interfering with the hooking process? Laptops are notorious for coming bundled with all sorts of malware that has to be meticulously removed to restore optimal functionality. Insidiously, reinstalling Windows restores it all over again. If everything works on your desktop PC then that indicates the environment is probably the issue. Can't really help you with vague descriptions like "it hooks every single one of my games wrongly" though. Quote
Yuuko 1679 Posted August 17, 2015 I don't really think that there should be anything that would interfere with the hooking but I wont deny it. Welp I'll fix it the day ITH finally dies. Also it might be possible that there is some settings just in ITHVNR that fuck up the hooking. I haven't looked into it too much. Quote
