  1. Just got back from the Sekai Project panel at Sakura-Con (well... and the VN novel panel that ran for a couple hours afterwards), and thought I'd dump my notes here (although it seems I'm much too slow to beat Anime News Network's summary... oh well) New game announcements: - November Boy is a Boys Love VN about a stalker. Not really my thing, but maybe it's yours. They're claiming it's a really compelling story, so I guess there's that. - I'm not really sure how this counts as an announcement, since they have had it out on Early Access on Steam (http://store.steampowered.com/app/340730/) for a while apparently, but they "announced" Sunrider Academy. It's the sequel of Sunrider: Mask of Arcadius, which Sekai Project published last July, but unlike the first game, the sequel is a full-on dating sim. - Machina of the Planet Tree -Planet Ruler- is a JRPG. Apparently they are already in the editing phase. Didn't get a lot of details about the gameplay. Watch their Twitter and Facebook for further details on this one. It's interesting to see the variety here, since I at least had the impression that most of their credits were straight-up visual novels or kinetic novels, up to this point. Other interesting random announcement: - They're bringing Isuna Hasekura of Spice and Wolf fame to Anime Expo (utilizing the World End Economica connection). Kinda cool. They only gave vague assurances otherwise about in-progress projects: - WEE Episode 2 is coming "really really soon". - Fault Milestone 2 is coming out in Q3 of 2015. I hadn't even heard of this series before (apparently it's basically a doujinshi?), but they were praising it to the roof, so I might have to give it a try... - WAS is still in progress because of the work being done on the extra scenario that was funded as part of the Kickstarter (apparently it is quite substantial). Nothing even remotely approaching a release date was given, though I did separately get assurances from them that there will at least be a Kickstarter announcement coming soon. - Clannad is "still on target" - Fruit of Grisaia will be out "by the end of this month" - Ame no Marginal is coming out "in a bit". Still in translation. Memorable quotation of the panel: when trying to describe Sakura Spirit, the Sekai Project dude's preferred epithet was "geometrically-gifted".

  3. Seiya-saiga, Foolmaker, Desertrain Foolmaker does the best, most efficient walkthroughs for VNs prior to 2012, and Seiya-saiga does walkthroughs for about 90% of all non-nukige, no-gameplay VNs. Desertrain is mostly defunct, but there is a large number of walkthroughs for VNs up to two years ago on that site. http://desertrain.sakura.ne.jp/fr_index.html http://www.foolmaker.net/ http://seiya-saiga.com/game/kouryaku.html Edit: Also enter the name of a given VN (in Japanese letters) followed by 攻略 into a search engine.

  4. Our story begins with a mighty witch named Aaeru, now long dead, who once ruled over the land of Fuwanovel using the power of a magical crown, forged in the Valley of Lolis by members cruelly enslaved to piracy magic. For many centuries the witch reigned supreme until, after a long life spent amongst her visual novels and spells, she sensed her days were drawing to an end thanks to DMCA takedown notices. She resolved to hide her crown in the most perilous part of the most dangerous section in her realm, setting around it such fearsome guardians as her most powerful spells were able to command. Once she had done so, she perished, proclaiming with her dying breath that only a member with the strength, wisdom, and courage to take her crown would rule in her stead. Hundreds of years have passed, and the realm, now governed by the mighty wizard Tay, has grown more dangerous, becoming infested by forum trolls and troubled by torrent seeking beggars. To this very day, the ancient legend draws gallant members to the troubled land - each seeking Aaeru's crown and the kingship of the realm of Fuwanovel. So far no one has proven worthy of the challenge. The seekers' bones lie bleached and broken upon the Plain of Fan Translations or else cast idly aside to be gnawed by wild beasts and monsters. In Fuwanovel's Fantasy Quest, up to six bold members assume the roles of hopeful adventurers - the would-be rulers of the land of Fuwanovel. Each member is very different and has their own strengths, weaknesses, and special powers. To win the game they must journey to the heart of the land's most perilous region to find Aaeru's crown, now guarded by the ancient dragons of visual novel lore, Gangagamer, Sekaithrax, and Jastaitis. They must use the crown's ancient magic to cast a mighty spell to subdue all their rivals. Their travels will be hard and fraught with danger - and it is in overcoming these dangers that the challenge of the game lies. Only by gradually building up their powers, gathering valuable allies, and winning potent magical items will they stand a chance of surviving the ultimate test that lies beyond the Portal of Visual Novels. This is my final reveal for the 2015 game season. In addition to the murder mystery game (which has been revamped slightly to fit new member's needs) and the revamped Kancolle naval battle game, this will be the 3rd game to be rolled out during the summer and into the 3rd quarter. I won't be revealing much about it at this moment in time, but to give you a preview, feel free to check out some of the cards featured in the game: I'll reveal more as time goes on, but if you are interested, please let me know. Unlike previous games, this forum game will take place via a live session on stream, where anyone in the community is allowed to view it. With that said, see you in the next update!

  5. Sekai Project talked to this WRT Key, a little bit. Although it doesn't answer how they got Planetarian in the first place, they directly credit the success of Planetarian with their ability to license Clannad. The "success" there comes in two forms that they explicitly talked about (and interestingly did not include any mention of sales): - Positive reaction from fans fed to Sekai Project, which they passed on to Key - Positive reaction from fans directly to Key On the second one, they told an interesting story. Some folks from Key showed up for an anime convention in the US (I missed exactly which one) and were promptly swarmed by people asking about, of all things, Planetarian. They were apparently floored: Planetarian, to them, was old. They weren't prepared to talk about it at all, and they found themselves surrounded by enthusiastic Planetarian fans talking at them. It seems like that was a wake-up call for those folks from Key, and Sekai Project is what made it happen. So, with that background, that kind of gives a good picture of what needs to happen for the English releases of both Clannad and Grisaia to be viewed as successful by Key and Frontwing, and for us English speakers to get more chances like this: they need to get a similarly huge fan response. Of course sales numbers are important, but it sounds like that personal touch is probably going to be more important. So, when it comes time, get out there and give positive reviews; send emails filled with effusive praise; when it comes out in the very near future, declaim your love for the English-translated Grisaia to Sekai Project and directly to Frontwing (you know, assuming you actually like it ). This could be a great opportunity for all of us to help the English VN translation industry pick up momentum.

  8. http://tenka.seiha.org/2015/04/i-despise-april-1st-on-the-internet/ https://vndb.org/v3947 Bunny Black is a dungeon crawling H-RPG. The translator (who was also the translator for Kamidori and Romanesque) is eventually moving on to the sequels too. Bunny Black seems like an interesting series and I'm sure there are plenty of you out there who would be excited by this. This is SoufthouseChara's first translated game and most popular series so I'm pretty interested in it. The translator admits the first one isn't particularly great and he's doing this for the sequels, hopefully it's still pretty good. And no, this is not April Fools.

  10. The only person in possession of the original, uncensored image would be the artist(s). If they even drew that far in the first place. Most artists won't actually draw further than sketch-phase on censored bodyparts, just to save time.

    HCGs Questions '-'

Unfortunately, unless it was licensed for an English release, you can not get uncensored HCGs Japan doesn't allow hentai without mosaic over genitals. The mosaic effect isn't added in-game, it's embedded in the image so you can't remove it.

  12. There isn't an uncensored version of CG. The censor is drawn along with the CG so the only way to get a uncensored one is to redraw it.

Novel21 I suggest that you delete that location from your post before a mod comes by and deletes it for you. If you are looking for MOON vn I would recommend checking with OriginalRen (the potential middleman) as he might be able to give you a good idea of how much it might cost from Japan as well as possibly ship it from there for you (saving you tons of money on shipping and costs elsewhere).

There isn't a TL on EXH either. Chances are, if it's not there, it hasn't been translated. Might be worth asking an H scanlation group to pick it up. This was uploaded 5 months ago, so there might not be anyone willing to work on this without commission. But this is cute, and not too long, so you have a shot.

  30. I could hardly care as well, but then boom. I had expected it, but my thingy made me go with the flow again. So I guess it depends on the person yet again. This. Four years in and I'm still hoping that they continue it. I watched it back at 6th grade and I would go and squeal whenever something happens between them. It was really a great show. But shit, no sequel. I didn't read the manga because I had hoped for a sequel. Too bad that not all prayers are heard.

  31. Kaichou wa maid-sama really deserves a sequel. After the anime ends the whole plot switches attention to Usui pretty much and you learn everything about him. The anime really failed at delivering on that end, they just made him completely perfect when he has such a good backstory. Also Usui and Misaki's dating life is great and it's a shame they didn't adapt it past the confession. Overall though, the anime stands well on its own feet. But once you read the source material, you realize how much more it could have done.

  37. Despite all my parents do for me, I cannot live up to a millionth of what they deserve. I never do homework and my grades have plummeted. My mentality has become overly sexual, to the point where I am deadly afraid if I ever get drunk I will attempt to rape someone. In spite of the incredibly comfortable life I am leading, I make a huge (mental) fuss out of my problems. It feels more likely each day that I am outright retarded and have not realized it yet. I expect a lot from myself, yet do nothing. I fear disappointing my parents and myself, yet I do nothing. I have lost all patriotic etc. feelings. I have lost all respect and pride I felt towards my country's founder (practically the nation's savior) and the nation. I never had respect for the current government in the first place. I feel like I have lost faith in Islam. I am afraid that it might be the truth or it might not be. If I HAVE lost faith, I dread the reaction of my family (which is, for the most part, consisting of conservative Muslims). Even hearing Allah mentioned in daily conversation ticks me off. I do not know what to do. I am losing my love of books. I should practice with my guitar much more, but I just fail miserably to manage my time (in general). All my friends and family probably have a better opinion of me as a person than I actually am. I do not think I am getting the most out of life, bu there is nothing else I feel like doing. Edit: Even though my family is very rich, I feel like I do not deserve that because I never work, and I feel very ashamed when I see people who have accomplished more with far less opportunities. I do not work enough to make use of all opportunities my life, family and friends provide. I am in one of the best schools in the country with a huge tuition fee and I feel like I am not making worthy use of that either. My father told me about how they were preparing to pay my tuition fee for university (the number was a huge amount, more than $100K is all I will say) and I felt very ashamed because I fear that I will fail miserably in my uni entrance exams (three years ahead) and not deserve that money and my family's countless sacrifices one bit.

  40. Got answers for everything so far; keep suggestions and questions coming, and I'll keep relaying He hinted there will be some news about this at their Sakura-con panel tomorrow night, and promised that there will be a Kickstarter update very soon. Got a kind of boring, but understandable, answer: they don't know yet because none of their games that were initially funded through Kickstarter has yet been released (note that though there was a WEE Kickstarter, that was only episodes 2 and 3; 1 was funded through Steam Greenlight, IIRC). This one got a very interesting response: "That's entirely up to Key". My interpretation was that they're already very interested and probably even already voiced their interest to Key, and the ball's in Key's court.

  41. Skip voices as soon as I'm done reading. Which is why I treasure the 'voice playback continues after click' though; voice cutting off sux. ~~ The only VN where I listened to every voiced dialogue was Neko Para

  42. Of course I don't skip voices. If one doesn't care about voices then why don't just read a book? Well, I know I'm exaggerating because VNs have other things that book doesn't but when I don't just try to fly to the end to have scene / route done, I definitely listen voices (and often replay them ).

  43. Most of my hype for this is killed by Ryu-art and the most likely lack of budget tht signifies. I love Ryu's stories, but damn it he needs to stop drawing and acting like he's still a circle. Let alone with three writers like this... this deserves far better treatment than a mere doujin it's trying to be.
