I am an IT student and Katawa Shoujo is a Python game. Basically you need to draw the characters in a VN. Things like Bamboo Manga I guess will be very useful. Then you program everything in python. I guess that is what you need.

Why do when I start playing VN's I always think of the pornography and erotic stuffs inside(sex scenes, erotic, etc.). However as the story progresses, my urge of lust suddenly vanishes and is replaced by sadness and despair. Hahaha. I just don't know why especially in Katawa Shoujo.
