All of them are pretty good.
It is hard to give recommendations without knowing specifics. (What genre do you prefer etc.)
There is a lot of good translated visual novels. This thread has a long list of 50 really good ones.
If you have a specific request, then you can try making a thread under the recommendations sub forum. People will very often make the same recommendations over and over if the thread isn't very specific, so you can also just browse some of the threads there to see some of the most popular titles.

Yes, a lot of them do have slice of life elements. Among the games I mentioned earlier, most of them are charage, so games with a primary focus on the every day life of the characters, often with romantic themes in the centre.
If you want some more specific story driven games, G-senjou no Maou and Sharin no Kuni might be good pics. Grisaia no Kajitsu is rather unique, as it has a really long common route with just slice of life, then it gets very heavy and story focused towards the end. These also do not have fantasy, and are more "realistic."
Tokyo Babel is very heavily focused on plot, lore and combat. It does have slice of life elements, but if you are looking for something a little different, I strongly recommend it. It does have a lot of fantasty like story though.
