  1. I always had this simplistic view that weeaboos were nothing more than people from outside of Japan that just wished, acted and did everything they could to be or at least look like (regarding behaviour, not physical appearance) Japanese people. These people would behave like that due to an obsession to what they think is japanese culture, be it correspondent to reality or not. It being a positive or negative adjective I guess would depend on the situation.

Though after reading this topic I reaffirm what I said about my opinion being rather simplistic.

  2. I'm not that into american rap, I prefer the stuff from where I come from, but I find Tupac a true legend.

I also listen to Watsky sometimes for fun, it was nice seeing another fan of him here, since he's not that well known.

  3. That there are universally worthier/nobler forms of entertainment is a tempting idea. I have found myself considering over and over again: if UmiNeko and Tolstoi's books, for instance, are both a psychological evaluation about the depths of human despair, why the hell should I spend my time on a videogame instead of reading a masterpiece of literature?

But then, in the end, I think that to see certain form of pleasure/entertainment as superior than another (in this case b/s/m are superior to VNs) is a kind of outdated mindset, from a political and artistic standpoint. While I can enjoy more Shakespear's Hamlet, there's no self-supporting rational evidence why it should be categorically superior than a VN.

John Stuart Mill tried to give evidence to this theory of superiority, and said that it was a rule that people would always choose a higher (worthier) pleasure over a lower one, but what we actually see is that even the most intellectual person could choose, sometimes, to read a VN instead of Crime and Punishment.
That can be shown both by the popularity of TV shows (like The Simpsons) and of all the avant-garde movements of anti-art in the early 20th century, like Dadaism, in our culture. And we shoudl remember that the whole concept that everything is art and no art is superior to another is what moves modern and postmodern art.

Don't learn spanish, don't waste your time, the best things from here are already translated (borges for example, almafuerte-pedro bonifacio, etc etc)

Spanish as a language sucks (and the many many variations it has) and spanish speaker people are the worst kind (most of them probably 80%), south and central america is shit, don't waste your time learning this language...  spain is almost the same...maybe guinea is different? lol

source: I'm from Argentina, I know chile, bolivia, peru, uruguay, paraguya, I know a little bit of mexico some parts, venezuela, colombia, i loath the culture around us spanish speakers, their people, yes I have some strong hate toward my people and you need to live here to being able to understand why i hate them, one thing is to see something on tv or spend a vacation in a place, another thing is to live with the same people.

Wow dude, that's a very strong hatred you've got there. Well, I can absolutely see where you're coming from, every place and its people have problems, and Latin America is no exception to the rule, but I really think that a lot of stuff is just relative. Spanish was - together with japanese - the most beautiful language I learned; I'm a big enthusiast of Latin American literature and would say that there are many fantastic authors that don't have their complete work completely translated yet; and finally and most important, I'd really think twice before saying that South/Central America is shit. First of all, as a matter of respect, and second, at least in my opinion, we have a a very compelling history behind us and a promising or at the very least intriguing future ahead. We have many problems, just like any set of developing countries, but even the most hostile land has something to offer.

  5. I'd second the suggestion for learning Spanish. You gotta remember there's the whole vast Latin American culture to explore. In literature, three of the best writers of the past century (two Nobel laureates) are from South American spanish-speaking countries: Gabriel García Márquez, Mario Vargas Llosa and Jorge Luís Borges, not counting all the others from the whole Latin American Boom of the 60's and 70's. Apart from that, in movies there is Pedro Almodóvar, like it was said before, with a really vast and really beautiful filmography.

  6. Wow, thank you very much everybody for your suggestions! I've already played KS and Grisaia, and also was in the middle of playing If My Heart Had Wings when my computer crashed and I lost all my progress a few months ago, but I guess playing it again and finishing it this time is the most logical choice.. I mean, I probably can't get enough Kotori, you know. But I probably will check out all these suggestions. Thanks everyone!

Welcome to the Fuwanovel, or I should said welcome to introduction page I supposed (Because I just saw your profile and you registered back at 2013. No problem though) and hope to see you here more in forum.

Yeah, I registered back then when I first started playing VNs, for tech support, but I stopped playing not long after due to lack of time.. but I started playing again not long ago and thought participating in the forums might make my experience even more enjoyable :)

Welcome to these forums. Based on your tastes, it sounds like our opinions will clash quite a bit. I'm not particularly fond of moege and like chuunige quite a bit.

I can't really recommend any moege considering my stance on them, but I hope you enjoy the recommendations Derg and Arc gave you. They'll fit right into your tastes.

I hope to see you around. :sachi:

Yeah, I don't know why but I think your tastes are in line with the majority of VN players. At least from what I saw from the small time I got to lurk the forums, chuunige is very popular here and moege, well, not so much. Ofc there are exceptions and/or I might be completely wrong - and I probably am, considering I'm totally new to this lol - but that was just my first impression.

  7. Hello there! I'm a simple guy that like simple things and simple VNs! Unfortunately, due to lack of time I still haven't played many VNs, so I'm still kind of a novice on the hobby. Well, as I said, I'm a guy of simple tastes, I'm particularly not a big fan of Chuuni stuff, I prefer good ol' romance Charage and/or Moege. If you guys wanna leave any recommendations for me, I'd very much appreciate those. Thanks all and I hope I can get along with you all!

PS: I also just finished playing Kindred Spirits on the Roof, and I just wanna say that

    Spoiler

SasaxUmi is love, SasaxUmi is life.

  8. Hello there, I'm having exactly the same problem here, and I thought it was better to ressurect this topic than to create another one. I have a Windows 7 64bits and already tried everything the OP did - with the exception I can't run the game even in compatibility mode. I also cleaned my registry with CCleaner like the fellows up there suggested, but the game is still crashing. This also happens with the JAST USA version that I downloaded from Nyaa.

    Thanks!

  9. Looks like the installer can't find Grisaia.exe... Try renaming the folder to some base location. Something like C:\Grisaia and move all your files in there. Then try running it again.

    It worked! o.O

Thaaaaaanks a looooot, man! Wanted to play it for a long time, was really upset with the error, but thankfully it was solved that easily!

And thanks to the others too!

    :D

  10. That seems odd, it is not exactly the most useful message. Try installing the game running the install.exe directly, since it is saying the game isn't properly installed when you try to install it.

    Tried it, it shows this:

    ---------------------------

    DFNエラー

    ---------------------------

ファイル C:\Users\Joao Mateus\Downloads\[Fuwanovel] Grisaia no Kajitsu\1) Install Grisaia no Kajitsu (run bootmenu.exe)\Grisaia.exe が見つかりません

    ---------------------------

    OK

    ---------------------------

Kinda sad, really. I actually downloaded the game from TPB, so I thought it could be it, but when I went to download from the FN site, I saw the file's path were all the same. Guess I'm just unlucky after all. Though in the comments of the file on the TPB page there was a guy who a I think had the same problem as me.

Weird error... Have you stopped seeding it? If not, try to remove it from the list of downloaded torrents and then install it from the .exe file, not autorun. Did you have the demo installed for Grisaia before you tried to install this one? Also, can you post a screenshot of the files you have in the Grisaia folder you downloaded?

Yes, I stopped seeding and no, I didn't install the demo. Here's the screenshot:

  11. Can you replicate the error and then copy/paste it into here? If you don't know how, just click on the error box and press CTRL + C

    ---------------------------

    起動エラー

    ---------------------------

    正常にインストールされていません。ゲームディスクより再インストールを行って下さい。

    ---------------------------

    OK

  12. Hello there! I'm having a problem installing Grisaia no Kajitsu! It's not the config/export problem, I have the files on my folder. The problem is another one that I couldn't find the answer on google : When I run the bootmenu to install the game the following pop-up appears:

    srst.png

After I press OK, all options of the menu gray out and I can only close it.

I'm running a 64-bit Windows 7 and my system locale is set to Japanese already. I also tried running as admin, but nothing seems to be working.

    Thanks! ^^
