Outside gameplay titles I'd only call Hoshizora no Memoria -Wish upon a Shooting Star- and Boku no Te no Naka no Rakuen (because it's tsundere fantasy!) mastepieces. I'll review School Five ~Itsutsu no Himitsu no Monogatari~ since it has battle heroines and kind of obscure. I've always been shocked by the fact how untranslated moege Flyable Heart got so many reviews. I guess there was some horrible English translation, because otherwise it's super suspicious. Michi is pissing rainbows with this number of moege, but it's sad that comments did not survive.

They pulled it together and about to went home but soon after something like earthquake happened and all blacked out.
When they woke up they found that some of them are missing but that's not all, the school became a ruin and they couldn't get out. Then they noticed that they are not even in the same school anymore and there is something lurking in the dark school not wanting them to leave...

A strange girl named Yuiri also appears in front of them who just set up the Edo Customs Research Club. Taichi is forced to join it.... He meets other club members, Saki, Suzuka, Kazuha, Shouta, and Ruka there and lives an eventful school life. One day, a mysterious mist that arouses sexual desire suddenly surrounds the school. When it happens Taichi and Yuiri are together.
"Stop it! Don't look at me!"
"Well, you are looking at me with erotic eyes."
"Don't say that! I'll never...."
"Oh, it's no good...."
They finally sleep together.
On the next day, Yuiri and other club members decide to examine how the mist appeared. But one day, another mysterious phenomenon happens and Taichi is forgotten by his friends...
Despite rather nukige-ish synopsis it's a rather serious story. We get to the past to prevent all the stuff in the synopsis. But development is looped, and from the second lap it really starts to get boring. Protagonist is nothing good, and number of H scenes is above average.
6. Musou Tourou 夢想灯籠 [090319] FOG
Musou Tourou focuses on the concepts of death and rebirth and its story is separated into two main branches, the present branch and the history branch. The story starts with the hero Shuji's encounter with demons .
As an excellent swordsman, he took it upon himself to defeat the creatures from the netherworlds. Although he won, he reckons that the demons are not to be looked down upon, and this proves right as he is knocked down by a strong adversary in his second fight, only to wake up in the presence of a strange girl Kagami.
Between life, rebirth and time travel, you have to protect your love from the menaces.
PSP all-ages title with card battles. Story is thin, and instead of events there are endless psychological descriptions. Heroines fall in love at first sight. Seven endings actually all fall into two patterns. There's nothing to really praise except for graphics.

Like this, Yuuya and Konoka are sent to an isolated island. "It's warm here! There's no cold wind!" The island is like a paradise under the clear sky and surrounded by beautiful sea. Yuuya and Konoka are ordered to live there and enter school nearby. Yuuya and Konoka's school life on the island now starts...
It's near future where some people participate in an experiment to develop in a closed community and hopefully find something useful for stagnant civilization. What a stupid endeavour. It's all just to introduce normal school setting in a small town. There are some spectacular developments in the middle, but basically it's just a nostalgic thing. After five romance routes the true one opens up which finally has something to do with future.

They arrive in a ruined city, and Kou learns that he is a special Simulacrum user who graduated from school several years ago. He has forgotten his memories that may have had a significant impact on his life. The name of the case that slowly materializes from his lost memory, "Gray Christmas."
"What is Gray Christmas? Why was I investigating the case?" He comes to remember the whole story of the case and its meaning. A peaceful life that was meant to last forever, which however, suddenly comes to an end...

Do you remember Crowd making comedies? Well, I don't. What I remember is Crowd making all those X Change nukige series all the time. Basically, it's the same kind of sex exchange "comedy", just in fantasy setting . And before you you can familiarize with the setting it's already H scenes time.
Subarashiki Hibi ~Furenzoku Sonzai~ is VN of the Month, moreover, a 10/10. I'm going to call White Album 2 ~Introductory Chapter~ another masterpiece since it was at least memorable compared to Closing Chapter. Micchi is mostly interested in Koiiro Soramoyou

Yuuki hears a rumor that Roka is in love with Makoto. Later he hears that Makoto is close to another girl... Yuuki decides to ask Kotonoha, Makoto's girlfriend, about it to make it clear the fact. From that day, Yuuki's eventful school life starts...

Though Tanpopo has a boyfriend, Hiro, she is still a virgin. She is somehow allowed to join the club, but she is totally confused with the customs of the club. Also, Hiro persistently tries to have sex with her.
Will she be able to protect her virginity? Will she be able to become a strong Sumo wrestler?
Such madness could only be undertaken by Liar Soft. As usual it's half-stupid, half-spontaneous H. Length is short, and additional nuisance gameplay elements are introduced to hamper progression.

The next spring, he decides to join Sono’s drama club when he enters the school, but it was closed since it didn’t have enough members.
Main character dresses as a girl and participates in drama club. Just a banal disappointing debut work.

Seigo came to the quaint island of Kamina-jima a few years ago from Tokyo. He’s apathetic about everything and gives up easily. One day a castle fell from the sky and soon strange things began occurring around the area. The queen chose a young boy to investigate into it. While he is definitely smart and capable of great things, his personality is… well, a little off. He doesn’t follow orders well, doesn’t have common sense and likes playing tricks to scare people.
It's more of a charage, but with battles. The worst part is that all individual routes end abruptly without revealing anything. It's natural to expect a true route, but there is none. With so many questions piled up it's impossible to give real evaluation unless there's a sequel or something.
10. Natsu ni Kanaderu Bokura no Uta 夏に奏でる僕らの詩 [100326] Purple Software
When Haruka was small, he was friends with many girls. One day, those girls played a secret game amongst themselves and one of them never appeared after that game. Many years later, while enjoying the sea, he meets a girl who he thought was a mermaid. She was Kanon, the girl who had left them back then. He calls out to her, but she doesn’t acknowledge knowing him.
All heroines are deredere childhood friends, so there's no real "capture", all are in love from the start. So SOL scenes and flirt take up all the time. Guess it's only for Purple Soft fans.
11. Re:Seven -Boku ga Kimi ni Dekirukoto- Re:Seven 僕が君に出来るコト [100326] Lilac Soft
One night, a girl suddenly appears in front of Naoya when he is on his way home.
"I'll erase you in seven days."
Since he doesn't know who she is, he just ignores her. He comes back home and goes to bed soon.
Seven days left...
Basically, protagonist uses this time to run away with one of fellow workers, so setting is opportunistic. Length is short, so there's just not enough content. Composition is looped, so after all laps there's the outcome.
12. RGH ~Koi to Hero to Gakuen to~ RGH～恋とヒーローと学園と～ [100326] Chien
Rinou Gakuen is a huge school with over 10,000 students. Iwao has been unlucky: being mistaken for a thug when he wanted to help the girls in trouble, getting in fights with the ‘school hero’, his dorm being a dump, etc. One day, he saw some students being attacked and he wanted to help, but... he can’t just help them as is since he’ll be thought as the culprit again. He decided to use ‘that’, and that was the beginning.
Transformation bakage that feels terribly short due to absence of everyday depiction. Typical Chien - funny concept, but unpolished realization.
13. Se.Kirara Se・きらら [100326] Native 1
Saki finally made it into Soushin Gakuen with the help and encouragement of his friends. Lifted by his achievement, he feels that it is just one small milestone in his life and he should do the most he can with his life. But everything won’t go smoothly. Together with the girls he meets at the school, he will make the journey to maturity.

Subarashiki Hibi is a story told in seven chapters. The story follows a group of several Tokyo high school students mostly through July of 2012 and each chapter is told from the perspective of one of its five main characters. Because of the same timeframe coverage, certain events are overlapping from chapter to chapter but at the core of it all is a mystery revolving around the prophecy about the end of the world on July the 20th as well as the events that are following before the said date. The first part of the VN is used to make a setting for the said mysteries while the second part is about uncovering the truth behind them all.
The story begins in chapter #1, 'Down the Rabbit-Hole I" on July 12, 2012. The protagonist, Minakami Yuki, lives a peaceful everyday life with Tsukasa and Kagami, her childhood friends, when one day she meets a mysterious girl, Takashima Zakuro (a girl in another class in Yuki's school, who seems to have met Yuki before but Yuki doesn't remember her). The strange schoolmate Yuki just befriended moves into her house (Yuki doesn't mind too much about that). Then following this new guest in Minakami's residence, Yuki's two childhood friends mentioned earlier also move in, just so that they don't feel left out. These events are just a prelude for what will ultimately lead Yuki to discover her own "Wonderful Everyday" during this chapter.

This sequel, The Reminiscences of Haruhi Suzumiya, is a direct continuation of the film's ending, taking place in the parallel world where the SOS Brigade doesn't exist. However, this sequel is a video game, featuring an original story; it just happens to be tied in to the plot closer than most Haruhi games.

Anisetta’s debut game is based off Arthurian legend. In a period of chaos and war, the throne is vacated with the death of the previous king. Arthur becomes the new king and is attacked by the 11 surrounding countries, but he fights them off and instead is viewed as the king of all countries. With peace finally in hand, the magician Merlin tells him to marry a princess from a neighbouring country. Even though he had taken her advice many times, he refuses to do so this time. She believes that it is necessary to strengthen the newly-found peace and that he is just afraid because he’s not used to being with girls. Don’t worry, she has a plan and the Knights of the Round Table will gladly help out.
Game is rough on all edges and with really weak scenario.
4. Bura Bura ぶら ぶら [110331] Wheel
Takuji is a guy who’s pretty popular among the girls, but he already has someone he likes: Hitomi, his osananajimi who’s doting and is quite a cute… guy!? Their childhood friend Nakaba, as well as other girls, want him to snap him out of the trap and lead him back to ‘normality’.
Silly bakage with all kind of trap/gay humor.
5. Hatsukoi Time Capsule ~Osananajimi to Kyakkya Ufufu~ 初恋タイムカプセル ～幼馴染とキャッキャうふふ～ [110331] Citoron Soft 1
When he was small, Kiriya buried a time capsule under a Camphor tree with his 5 osananajimis. Soon after, one of his osananajimis Kazuha moved away and they lost touch with each other. Ten years later, his other four osananajimis Yuuna, Mio, Maika and Anna all attend the same school and stay at the same dormitory as him, but hold back their feelings for him. One day, Kazuha returns and asked him if he still remembers the time capsule and their promise. With Kazuha’s return, the other osananajimis don’t hold back anymore and start making their moves, resulting in chaos. Which osananajimi will he end up with?

A long long time ago, the oni (demons) collected many treasures on an island known as Onigashima and Momotarou came with his three friends to defeat the oni and recover the treasures. Now, there is a thief Ura that is said to be the descendant of the oni and who is stealing all the treasures.
His actual name is Keisuke, the protagonist of this story. However, someone else posing as him sent out a notice and he wonders who it is. But soon his cover is blown as the descendants of Momotarou, Kintarou, Issun-boushi and Otohime also attend Onigashima Gakuen. And thus a modern fairy tale is born.

Even though Shouichi lost his camellia page pretty early, he found himself still stuck on the battlefield.
Game can be fun, but scenario and gameplay parts are no good.

Another time, another "game".
14 people have been confined to small rural village and fitted with exploding collars. Each one also has PDA with a unique ability and a condition to remove the collar. If anyone tries to leave the designated area or fails to achieve the condition in their PDA, their collar explodes, killing them.
This is the "game" of death, where mistrust and manipulation run rampant and death is common.
But this time there's also a catch, as when the "Rain starts to fall"...

Keisuke didn’t have much luck finding a job after his graduation, but he finally found a place to work at his father’s cafe Tenryuu. There aren’t many visitors at all, but it’ll do for now. He also helps out with renting out the nearby apartment Nazuki-sou and many cute girls live there. However, his father went missing and debts start piling up… soon he’ll be evicted! All the tenants help him out to renew the cafe and save their home.

Hashirajima Gakuen is a historic girls’ school which turned co-ed due to the declining birthrate. However, the school remained overwhelmingly female. Kei is a boy who transferred into the school and started living at the Saiunryou dormitory for out-of-towners and students with special circumstances. The girls at the dormitory had been preparing for a cute new kouhai to join them and were shocked to find out that the new resident was a boy.
Scenario is short, uninteresting and unfinished, with horrible conversations. No cuteness can save that.
2. Material Brave マテリアルブレイブ [120323] Team Baldrhead 1 2 3 4 5
Kamioki-jima is an island close to Japan which was recently formed due to volcanic activity and is home to one of the rarest minerals, enigmatite. Living beings which fuse with enigmatite gain great powers. Such humans are known as "unleashed", while animals and plants are known as "neoplasm" (NP). To research the hidden powers behind enigmatite, the island was designated a special area with a school to train the unleashed, called the "Unleashed Nursery".
Ayumu is a rare male unleashed who has a special ability, ‘engage’, which boosts the powers of his female partner. However, to activate his power, there must be an exchange of bodily fluids. The school president pairs him up with the most powerful student, Kanae, who always maintained her distance from him. One day, the island was attacked by NPs and in order to defeat them, they activated his "engage" ability with a kiss.

Jun was a pâtissier who opened a sweets shop L’Oiseau Bleu in his hometown, the water capital. The future looked bright with a dependable staff and positive reviews, but there was one obstacle which he could not overcome. The memory of the sweets created by the late pâtissier Koutarou, which were said to bring happiness, still lingered on the minds of the town’s citizens.
One day, Koutarou’s daughter Mika, who worked at L’Oiseau Bleu since it was in the same building of her father’s shop Abeille, revealed to him the secret behind the candy: they were enchanted with a magic which brought happiness to people. She also told him that she was a witch and that she could use some of her father’s magic.
Atmosphere and setting are plausible, but heroines lack individual charm, so it becomes a usual moege.
4. Sousouki Reginald 葬送鬼レギナルト [120323] Ocelot 1
Black shadows lurk in the smog-filled city of Fatedelhi. They are known as pagans (ghosts), beings who were not able to be reborn and remain on Earth without a soul. Reginald Urbane is a vampire who joined the pagan-hunting group Twanbach after meeting two mysterious twins Vanessa and Veronica.

Phase 😧 Kurosei no Shō is the third chapter in the four-volume Phase D sci-fi visual novel series. There are four phases of human existence. From conception to birth is called Phase A. From birth to death is called Phase B. From death to disappearance of the corpse is Phase C. And last, remnant after the death, separate from the corpse, is referred to as Phase D. Protagonist in this chapter is a young woman, Sachika Kuze (久世幸花) and the story revolves around her as she starts to uncover the strange power she possesses.

As a vampire, he can no longer leave Aqua Eden; so with nowhere else to go, he decides to enroll in a special school for vampires on the island — and thus, his new night life begins!

In the midst of all this, our memory-loss stricken main character has a fateful meeting with a hero of Yamatai, Himiko. Together, they settle Zipang's internal disputes and set off into a world covered with the burning embers of war.

They were the cheerful and innocent Yuuka, the reliable ‘onee-san’ Ayami and the once-small Mikana who had now grown to be very beautiful. Adding another osananajimi Yuusuke and his moodmaker imouto Mahiru, his school life is full of enjoyment like in the past. Then they received a strange e-mail inviting them to play a game. If they did not accept it, they will lose something precious.
There's no distinctive story, and scenario is so banal that it makes readers want to sleep.

When he turned on the screen, he saw a photo of himself dressed as a girl being auctioned for lots of money. Hatora quipped that next time she’ll take a nude photo of him. Sensing danger, he ran away from home... only to realize later that he was still dressed as a girl.
He ended up in front of the art gallery and a seemingly rich girl Rena asked why he was there so late at night. Mistaken for a student at the nearby girls-only art school Oukou Gakuen, he was taken inside to observe a bunch of paintings being brought into the gallery. Suddenly, he noticed some thieves and ended up getting taken hostage. After being saved by Rena’s bodyguard Chiharu, he thought he was free to go... but then Rena ushered him into the waiting limousine and took him to her mansion!
Rena questioned him how he had known that the paintings were fake and demanded to know his name, upon which he replied Mizuki, which was his surname. With the help of the head maid Akie, he managed to not have his identity fully blown. Then Rena presented him with a school uniform and told him that she had signed him up at Oukou Gakuen after hearing that he didn’t attend school. He will also serve as her maid. Unable to return home, how will Shin..., no, Mizuki fare in this new setting!?

Madoka’s family were descendants from the nobles, but they have fallen on hard times. However, due to his father’s financial successes, they’ve regained some of their wealth. His old-fashioned father was strict about speech and appearances and arranged his transfer to the prestigious Ookusu Gakuin to help him become a proper man. On his way to the dorms on the first day, he came upon a beautiful girl in the school’s courtyard, who looked like a princess straight out from a children’s book. While he was entranced by her beauty, she suddenly opened her eyes, looked at him and let out a scream, causing him to run away startled.
When he reached the boys’ dormitory, he found the same girl from before, Orfina, in his room. She is the princess from a small Northern European country who came to study at the school. However, she refused to live at the embassy and snuck into an empty room (which was now his) with her servant Kanon. Even though it was against the rules, she was determined to stay there and ends up taking over most of his room. Thus began his strange co-living with a proud princess. Over time, he became closer to her. Madoka had a difficult time adjusting to the high culture at the school. There is a group known as the Reijinkai where those in the nobility gather. They invited Orfina to join them, but were turned down. After some commotion, he ended up creating the Shakoubu with Orfina to oppose the Reijinkai. Which group would be able to gather more members?

Eight years later, Kou looked up at the night sky and once again saw the two moons. No one else seemed to be able to see them. Searching for an explanation, he returned to his hometown and reunited with his childhood friends who had all came back for the same reason. But eight years is a long time and some of them weren’t as close as they used to be.
They gathered underneath a strange tree that they remembered from the past and a magical glow enveloped them. Soon after, each of them received a magical item. Kou’s item, ‘Grayswandir’, allowed him to grant someone else’s wish. However, one day it was stolen from him and he vowed to get it back to prevent it from being used improperly. And so their new adventure begins…

This is the debut title by Rose Liese. Natsuki attends Ryoutou Gakuen, the lone school on the distant island of Harumi-jima where students are free to attend at their leisure. He mainly goes every day to chat with his classmates. His class is full of students with special abilities and is watched over by Mayuki, who he lived with since he was small and is like an older sister or mother to him. Also around him are his boyish osananajimi Kotori, his kouhai Aoi who is quite attached to him, and the somewhat unsocial genius Kanna. Five people with five different viewpoints of love and so begins this romantic tale during his last spring at the school. Love is like a strawberry, sweet but also slightly sour.

The gender split in Sayahama-chou’s Kouchourinkai Gakuen is greatly imbalanced, with 2 boys for every 8 girls. However, it’s not like a harem situation for the boys since they are treated as nobodies. Faced with a dimming future, the boys decided to create an unofficial ‘hero club’ with the aim to become people that everyone will want to have around.
Game suffers from average production values and poor common route, but is experimental in that heroines are unique and have very unusual problems to solve. H tilt is high.
2. Tiger & Bunny ~Hero's Day~ TIGER＆BUNNY ～ヒーローズ デイ～ [130320] Witchcraft
Tiger & Bunny: Hero’s Day lets you follow different characters in the anime series and you get to choose how events unfold, and also features a talking battle system. Players have to select choices to defeat an enemy. These scenes are timed and if the clock runs out you lose stamina. You can also lose stamina if you pick an incorrect choice, so be careful if the stamina gauge runs out the game ends.

Kotarou is a normal student at Hatao Gakuen who is a member of the ‘counselling room’. The ‘counselling room’ was viewed by many as a place for complaints and random requests. Even though he was pitied by them for being part of some a troublesome place, he didn’t mind it since he naturally liked helping out with other people’s problems.
One day, he was entrusted with a girl named Orie, who had committed a crime which almost got her expelled from the school. Even though her attitude was difficult to deal with, she earnestly completed all the tasks which he assigned to her. When she found out that he was living in an apartment, she implored him to let her stay there. After finding out the reason why she was so insistent, he agreed to take her in.
But not soon thereafter, his uncle informed him that the apartment will be demolished. He didn’t want to lose his home filled with memories, while she didn’t want to lose her newly found place where she could restart her life. With the mascot-like Maruna and transfer student Sonya moving in, and classmate Isami and trusted osananajimi Yuuki’s also showing up often, the apartment became more lively. Even if only for a limited time, their ‘family’ bonds strengthen.

14 people have been abducted and confined to small rural village . Clear conditions range from "simple" ones like "Survive until the last day of the game" to more complicated ones like "Clear conditions of all players with cards that represent a prime number are fulfilled". If anyone tries to leave the designated area, breaks one of the game's rules or fail to achieve their clear condition in their own PDA, their collar explodes killing them.
This is the "game" of death, where mistrust and manipulation runs rampart and death is common and when "rain starts to fall" ...

Hitoshi had been in Sakimihara Gakuen for three months and he still hadn’t joined a club. The astronomy club was in danger of disbanding due to the graduation of the third-year students and retirement of their advisor. He ended up being half-forced to join the club by the scheming of his older cousin and teacher Sakura. He met the other members of the club: energetic transfer student Supika, gentle neighbour Kano, shy senpai Sari, childish-looking but reliable Ayane. They were all new to astronomy as well, so their first outings were full of fumbles. However, as time progressed, they gradually began to change.
A normal simple youth romcom. Drawing is rather weird during SOL scenes, but becomes erotic during H scenes.
7. Himawari no Kyoukai to Nagai Natsuyasumi 向日葵の教会と長い夏休み [130329] Makura 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
Yousuke returned to his hometown of Oboshiro-mura after 8 years in Tokyo and Osaka. He had received a letter from Father Arakawa, who had raised him up as a child, telling him that the Oboshiro church will be closing and merged with a larger church in a neighbouring town, and inviting him back for one last summer together. He reunited with his childhood friends Yomi, Daiya and Ruka, and also met a little girl named Hina who reminded him of himself when he was a child. This is the beginning of a cheerful and refreshing, yet sometimes painful, summer tale.

8. Mirai Sekai no Planeta ミライセカイのプラネッタ [130329] Libre
In the near future, technology has progressed to a point where people can live both in reality and the internet world, Planeta. Satoru came to Planeta to enjoy a school life in the virtual world. But he was recruited to work for the detective team Sprites after meeting their leader Ayaka. At the same time, there was a terrorist attack in Planeta, caused by a hacker who went by Irurihito.
Intriguing setting and opening turn into a fluke. Virtual school feels very much like normal school, main character is a weak cheating disgusting shota and mystery is not that great to gather its pieces from individual routes. World-building is done well in the first half, but there's just not enough development or interesting events happening in the second half.
9. Ryuusei☆Kiseki -Shooting Probe- 流星☆キセキ －SHOOTING PROBE－ [130329] Unison Shift: Accent
Due to many satellite accidents, the world was littered with countless space debris. Space development had been suspended and people’s dreams of reaching the stars were stalled. Hayato decided that he could not wait such a long time for all the space debris to clear and development to resume, so he set out to build a model rocket which will be able to pierce through the debris. He continued to try despite repeated failures and the cool gaze from those around him.
On his 99th try, he thought he had finally attained success until his rocket collided with something. Running to the crash site, he found a naked girl holding a rocket. She opened her eyes and introduced herself as Twink, a space probe who had come to investigate Earth. However, she was unable to break away from Earth’s gravity due to the collision with his rocket. He promised to help her return to her home star.
Not bad good-natured royal road game with Twink pulling the blanket in her direction. But we've seen a lot of rocket-building games already, and this one focuses exactly on that and friendship rather that going for romance or humor. It treads on difficult ground competing with Rocket no Natsu and Robotics;Notes , and those are serious rivals.
10. Shukusai no Utahime -Kimi to Tsumugu Asu e no Uta- 祝祭の歌姫 ―君と紡ぐ明日への歌― [130329] More
Kaito spent peaceful days in the musical capital of Wolfburg with his childhood friends Rio and Graf. However, his wish for this to remain unchanged was shattered one day when he heard a girl cry for help in a corner of the old town. He brought the girl Yuina to his house and after talking to his father, allowed her to temporarily stay with them since she had no place to call home due to strife. Thus began his life together with Yuina, whose values were quite different from his.
One day, his friends and Yuina heard about a recruitment for performers at the music festival and decided to join it. They worked hard together to make the best memories of their youth, but there were sinister things which were creeping towards them: the late witch, the hidden treasure, and the problem of the eastern district.
It's a middle price low budget work, so CG pattern is narrow and scenario feels chopped at times. Despite the witch death day hook thrown at the beginning, it's a normal youth pure love game with discrimination in focus. With better quality and proper protagonist it could be a thing, but in this state - alas.
11. Unmei ga Kimi no Oya o Erabu Kimi no Yuujin wa Kimi ga Erabu 運命が君の親を選ぶ 君の友人は君が選ぶ [130329] Whitesoft
The quiet town of Tounoyama-chou was full of shrines and churches, stone circles and other ruins, as well as an underground labyrinth which was built during the war and other historical structures. It was known as a spiritual place, where many believed in fortune telling and miracles. The protagonist transferred into Tounoyama Gakuen and the fortune-telling deemed him as the ‘destined boy’ upon which the school’s future rested upon. However, a great uproar ensued when they found out that he was just a normal person. During that time, he met many girls and his osananajimi Riri revived the occult club as the ‘destiny research club’ and proposed to see their futures together.
Game tries to be philosophical akin to Nekonade Distortion and has good atmosphere, but occult fortune telling tilt takes away a lot of charm for me. Individual routes take only 10 minutes, and the point of the game and title can only be understood after getting True End. If that does not scare you, scenario can actually be worth the effort.
VN of the Month is Endless Dungeon with other masterpieces being Hikoukigumo no Mukougawa and Hello Lady! . Clephas nominated the last two. Micchi pulls out a ridiculous list of seven titles including additional Clover Day’s , Doko no Donata no Kanjou Route , Koisuru Natsu no Last Resort, fandisc and delayed ones.

As such, their accompanying railroads also went into a deep sleep.
Soutetsu had lost his entire family in a rail accident and was adopted into the Migita household, which runs a shochu brewery in Ohitoyo city. He returned to his hometown to save it from the potential water pollution if they accepted the proposal to build an aerocraft factory nearby. He woke up the RailRoad Hachiroku by accident and became her owner. They agreed to help find her lost locomotive for different purposes, with the help of his stepsister Hibiki, the town’s mayor and local railway chief, Paulette, and others.

As the first step towards a future where humans and robots can co-exist, he began to live together with these three androids, the domestic Lux, the curious Sphere and prototype Nect, while watching over their growth.
However, sometimes Lux would barge into the bath to wash his back and sometimes Sphere would crawl into his bed. As a scientist, he was delighted at their displays of emotion, but on the other hand, it was somewhat embarrassing and troublesome for him as a member of the opposite sex.

A giant beautiful rose, called Consuelo by humans, blooms in the night sky 300,000 km away from Earth. The thorn took root and sprouted a smaller Consuelo, which attacked the people nearby and spread its sphere of terror. It was decided that the area be sealed from the outside, even though there were some that were not able to escape and were trapped inside, subject to the threat of attacks as they went about their daily lives.
One lone man continued to fight in the sealed area. His name was Ichizou, a former colonel in the STX Space Force and one of its finest pilots who was admired by all. Why did he remain even after the other soldiers had fled?

Ryouhei woke up in a hospital, having lost all his memories, even his own name. He would end up living together with the three girls: the friendly Aoba, the reserved Akao, and the openly-hostile Kanae. He thought that it wouldn’t be that bad living like this with them, but it would soon all be turned upside down by the existence of large humanoid robots called “Jinki”.
Did Giga really make a worthy chunige based on a solid source like manga? Of course, not. It's made afterstory specially to focus on humiliation scenes and bad-endings and safely ignore story element which is so small that can be neglected.

Protagonist Kanou Yoshitsune is the son of Kanou shrine keeper's family.
He is going to a school with other two. One is his sister Roko, and the other is childhood friend Shizuka.
They go to Kyoto with school trip, but Roko goes missing in Kuramadera. Yoshitsune and Shizuka goes to Kuramadera to find her, but they loses consciousness in the main hall. When they woke up, they were still in Kuramadera but something was different.
They were in Heian period, which is about 850 years ago.

Good to see Whirlpool following the flow of Pieces rather than some other its infamous projects. Individual elements are fine, so if you can stand all this heavenly providence and resurrection themes, could be more entertaining than Pieces.

Saika High School, founded in 1624, is the oldest high school in western Japan and will celebrate its 400th anniversary in 2024. Kaname Aokari, a library committee member, is reluctantly tasked with creating a website documenting the school’s history. While organizing materials, he discovers a mysterious book titled The Bizarre Crimes of Saika High, detailing past tragedies at the school.
The book reveals that three female students had been murdered, and as Aokari reads further, he finds his own name under “2024 - Kaname Aokari - Death.” Suddenly, a pale-faced boy named Saika appears, claiming, “I’m here to save you.” Aokari collapses and wakes up in the past, where he meets Chiyoko Shirakami, the first victim listed in the crime history. Saika tells him, “Saving her will save you too.”
This marks the beginning of Kaname Aokari’s journey to rewrite his fate and uncover the mysteries of Saika High School.
Only including because company is proper and there's windows release, but of course it's just a minor mystery mobile game.
Ginsei Senshin Guynarock is the VN of May 1991 by default - it's the closest thing to a visual novel this month.

In 2125 a special unit SIS was created to defend against extraterrestrial life. It consists of five female members - Erie, Louis, Megu, Remy and Io. After investigating an unidentified spacecraft heading for Earth, Erie was attacked by a scientist Baikal who vanished 150 years ago. Io is captured and the rest of the crew, except for Eri, are forced to rescue Io and ride giant robot Guynarock to oppose the giant robot of Baikal.
First of all there's a whole series of Guynarock series with very similar plot and titles which causes lots of confusion. Story is short, but has nice animations and impressive robot battle. Girs are drawn in the 1980s style and are cute enough.
2. Smell of Blood スメル オブ ブラッド [910524] Heart Soft
Year 2270. Glen is a worker who returns from a 6 month shift from Mars. He awakes in Shuttle 2 only to find out that the spacecraft is breached by alien killer monsters.
Game is obscure. Heart Soft is the main experimentation company of 1991. Most of its games have kinky mechanics that are difficult to grasp. This game has 10 command variants for each dialogue, lots of rooms and technical information on the station.
3. Gakuen Toshi Z 学園都市Ｚ [9105] Striker 1
In the floating in space academic city of Z students compete against each other using their own robots. This year just one day before competition the Red team got intoxicated by food poisoning. Just one red team was intact. So the rules were changed - if Red team gathers five crystals scattered throughout the school - it wins. Otherwise white opponents win. And now single Red robot faces 20,000 white robots.
RPG with ADV elements. Setting leaves much to be desired and plot does not invoke any emotions. Both girls from red mechanics team are cheerful and animation is quite widely used, but that alone can't save the game from the depths of commonness. RPG part is actually quite difficult compared to other RPG VNs.
4. Phantasy Star II Text Adventure: Rudger no Bouken ファンタシースターII テキストアドベンチャー ルドガーの冒険 [911201] Sega 1 2 3
This chapter features Rudolf "Rudo" Steiner (Japanese: ルドガー・スタイナー (Rudogā Steiner or Rudger Steiner)), who after the loss of his wife and child in a Biomonster attack, becomes a hunter dedicated to their extermination.

5. Phantasy Star II Text Adventure: Shilka no Bouken ファンタシースターII テキストアドベンチャー シルカの冒険 [911201] Sega 1 2 3 4
Shir Gold (Japanese: シルカ・レビニア (Shiruka Rebinia, Shilka Levinia)) – the only child of a wealthy family in Paseo, she belongs to the well-to-do of Motavia. Growing up and wanting for nothing, Shir felt that becoming a thief would remedy the monotony of daily life. She enjoys the outside air, the cool night breeze, and hanging around on rooftops, taking up the nickname "Shir of the Wind". Her adventure takes place in Autumn of AW 1282, about two years before the events that take place in Phantasy Star II, as she plans to steal a valuable painting entitled "Opa-Opa", which is on display in a hotel exhibit.

Kurutta Kajitsu is the only masterpiece of May 1991.
1. Kurutta Kajitsu 狂った果実 [920501] Fairytale 1
Satoshi Kanou encountered a cheerful girl at professor party and it turned out that she's been cheerful for the first time in her life towards anyone, so Satoshi was invited as tutor in the house. However Satoshi witnesses an accident with professor's older sister and he soon finds himself into a whirlpool of events.
It's a classic depressing mystery novel - utsuge made by the same Fairytale company as Dead of the Brain and Lan-Mal last month. And it's the first utsuge, before that the genre did not exist. It has a suspense tv drama as the origin, but the theme was changed for the game and much more cruel scenes were incorporated. Year 1992 is known for a big number of depressing games, but Kurutta Kajitsu presides over them. Story might be not too original, but the perfect graphics and scenario left a lasting impact on the generation of players. One by one everyone around main hero starts to die in a most unnatural manner and you probably won't be able to look at some of the home appliances the same way after reading this VN. And as with most utsuge, there is no happy ending ... only jealousy, anger, hate, depression, pain and despair.
2. Minimum Guynarock みにまむがいなろっく [920508] Techno Brain
This is an alternative version of Ginsei Senshin Guynarock telling the shortened version of the story with chibi characters.
The playthrough is done withing some 7 minutes, for real. The second part of the game is issued in December 1992, so my best guess is that this game is to refresh the memories on the events of the prequel and produce some gags.
3. DOR Part 2 DOR Part 2 [920519] D.O. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
The sequel to DOR is structured exactly the same way as the first game: play any of the three unrelated scenarios, accessible directly from the main menu.
The first scenario takes the player into France of 16th century, during a witch hunt. The playable character is a young girl who is falsely accused of being a which and is taken into a dungeon, interrogated, and tortured.
The second scenario follows the adventures of a young boy who has lost his way in a forest. Suddenly he meets a cute little female elf, who is willing to help him find the right way, in exchange for some other favors...
The third scenario is named "Armored Fighter Gyleban" and is in a way a parody on sci-fi anime movies. The player controls a commander of a unit of female fighters with enhanced abilities, that must stop an evil organization from conquering our world.
Since the English localized version included one story from DOR part 2 all the reviews apply here as well.
4. Réserve 2 [920501] MIN
The final chapter in the Reserve series once again stars Mio but this time the creatures from the diminsion she travelled to in the first game have come to her school and are haunting her classmates and teachers. She suspects there's something funny about the new girl in class - who turns out to be Koumori in human form and hiding out from Lucifer and his minions.
Game's very short and oriented on ero-scenes while losing to different monsters.
Prostudent G and Nova are the masterpieces of the month, but when there's a choice I'd choose anything over bakage and thus Nova is VN of May 1993.
1. Noltia ノルティア [930514] Flat 1
Noltia contains three scenarios, which are not related to each other story-wise. All the three share traditional Japanese adventure gameplay, with "Look - Talk - Think" verb command pattern, no inventory, no puzzles, and plenty of text.
The first one can be played as either of its two main characters - the boy Aruto or the girl Kyoko. Both are not what they seem to be: Aruto is working for a registry organization in the World of the Dead, and he has to bring Kyoko to judgment, where it will be decided whether she goes to heaven or hell after death. However, Kyoko is actually an angel, whose goal is to save Aruto from killing himself. Both characters have special bars - the well-being of the protagonist and the proximity of the opponent to the protagonist's goal. Command choices can increase or decrease either of these statistics. Wrong choices can lead to Game Over.
The second scenario casts the player in the role of a high-school student named Yoshihiko, who is hired by a gym teacher to take erotic pictures of high-school girls and bring them to him. This scenario allows movement through school locations (menu command "Move"), and, depending on the player's choices, Yoshihiko can succeed in taking the most erotically satisfying pictures, or achieve one of the "bad" endings.
The third scenario is a realistic depiction of a relationship between a young man named Eiji and his little sister Miwa. The player can choose to play as either one of them. Eiji is dating Miwa's schoolmate, and Miwa tries to understand the change in her own feelings. In this episode, the gameplay is rather straight-forward Japanese adventure.
Only third story is serious enough. It also uses zapping to switch protagonists, which is really fresh. A very nice experimental work without emphasis on H-element. It's one of the works that allows us to speak of 1993 year as the golden age of visual novels with lots of original stories and emphasis on scenario.
2. Tenshi-tachi no Gogo Special 2 天使たちの午後SpecialII [930514] JAST
Main hero is high school student. But he also steals money and assets from villains to return it to the proper owners. One day he received a request by mail to get "Blue Diamond" out of debt situation.
The only common part with the predecessors is that it's a school mystery. Game series is changing very slowly over time and thus starting to look bleak compared to competitors. Anyway, character design is cute and it's still possible to enjoy the game heartfully.
3. Prostudent G ぷろすちゅーでんとG [930515] Alice Soft 1 2 3
By the end of the 20th century, radical educational reforms have transformed the Japanese society. Students were split into opposing groups, and the more aggressive of those eventually formed a dominant organization named Order of Black Phoenix, centered on the cult of a mysterious person known as "The Queen". Outcast students have escaped to a secluded island near Okinawa. A wandering lazy and lecherous manga and anime fan named Gorō Endō teams up with a female teacher and a few students to lead an opposition force against the oppressive governing circles.
Bakage from AliceSoft. Even the synopsis does not make any sense. And it should not - in fact, it's possible not to follow the story and still enjoy the game in he fullest. All kinds of elements are mixed together with constant parodies, gags and unrealistic events happening. I prepared a full review of it.
4. DOR Special Edition Sakigake ＤＯＲ ＳＰＥＣＩＡＬ ＥＤＩＴＩＯＮ 魁 [930521] D.O. 1
DOR Special Edition: Sakigake is the fourth entry in the DOR series. Unlike all the previous games, it contains only one scenario instead of the usual three.
The scenario follows the story of Kensuke Funaki, a young boy who attends a prestigious private high school, where the students specialize in sports as well as various theatrical activities. The biggest event of the school is an all-female wrestling competition. Kensuke finds himself in a promising situation: in order to secure his support, the young and pretty competitors are willing to go far - very, very far...
The story does not differ much from other DOR stories. But this game's feature is unusual sound and partial voicing.
5. Nova ノ・ヴァ [930528] Cat's Pro. 1 2
The protagonist of the game awakens in the cryogenic chamber of a spaceship, unable to remember anything from his past and only vaguely recalling his name. Something strange is happening on board the ship, and it is possible that unknown creatures have found their way into it. The protagonist meets other crew members and together they try to find out what exactly is going on.
The first serious work of Cat's Pro and already a masterpiece according to my rating. Actually Nova has three stories that happen roughly at the same place in the same circumstances, but only first story has enough longevity and complexity. It also has the most mystery and SF elements in it. Three stories is an experimental structure to satisfy as many players as possible. Still the selling point of the game lies in magnificent graphics and sound.
6. Hitomi Zaka ひとみ坂 [93] Higashikai Hotsujuku 1
The story itself is about a group of friends from high school after school is over. Everyone hangs out in a coffee house, goes on dates in said coffee house, plays occasional games of football, and sometimes go out to do stuff like visiting the fair or play the piano.

7. S.A. S.A. [93] A-Inn
A collection of two short erotic stories
Scenario 1 is about a parent and child coming to main character's house for recruitment purposes. Protagonist manages to coerce child to intimate relations.
Scenario 2 is about main character graduating from high school and gathering to move out. At the same time imouto starts to gain consciousness as a woman. Siblings share their memories before the departure.
Short erotic stories, but with great visuals.
8. The Ooya-san - Tamattemasu yo! Yachin ga!? ザ・大家さん たまってますよ！家賃が！？ [93] Soft Circle Courreges
Ohayama Harumi is the son of apartment complex owner. One day his father gives him a telephone call and asks to gather rent from five girls that are late with the payment.
The girls prefer to seduce the guy and he's such a virgin that can not say no. Nothing special.
Tokimeki Memorial is the only masterpiece of the month.
1. Circle Mate サークルメイト [940513] Softhouse Bonbee Bonbon
Hide is a member of the Club where members that enjoyed sexual pleasures were gathering. One day he gets to know that another club member Yuko is killed by the train and another club member Asako stops going to school because of that. A hired detective suspects Hide in this crime, so Hide starts his own investigation.
This is an utsuge game full of depression and H scenes. The atmosphere resembles Crazy Fruit from 1992 the most. The mystery is quite shocking upon unwinding. This work has a lot of dark charm and is much less hardcore than contemporary utsuge, so should not be overlooked if you search for a good mystery story.
2. Twilight トワイライト [940514] Studio Twinkle 1
In "Twilight", the protagonist, who works for a mysterious magic-using organization, is set to Transylvania, to investigate the murder of a nun known as Sister Christa. A woman named Karen, who also specializes in black arts, goes to the monastery with the hero, but obviously has her own agenda. The goal is to find out the truth by questioning the suspects, keeping an eye on one's own safety...
In the beginning of the game, the player can choose any of the six possible scenarios, each dedicated to a different suspect (all female). They all take place in the same monastery, but dialogues, events, etc., are completely different. The interaction in "Twilight" is confined to periodical decision-making; many of the decisions are "wrong", leading to the hero's death or otherwise premature ending.
Atmosphere is created by live-photo images and monotone colors. It's a short one, possible to finish 6 stories in one hour. Drawing and character design are mediocre at best.
3. Houma Hunter Lime Dai 12 Wa 宝魔ハンターライム 第１２話 [940520] Silence 1
In this episode Lime, Bass and Kokona depart to the magical world for the final confrontation against two powerful demons and their horrifying fusion known as the Hellraiser.
The final episode the includes a serious battle and that also gives an epilogue for the whole series.
4. Super Ultra Mucchin Puripuri Cyborg - Marilyn DX スーパーウルトラむっちんぷりぷりサイボーグ マリリンＤＸ [940525] JAST 1 2
Kenji was just a regular teenage boy who had a normal life, which included a girlfriend. However, everything changes when one day he comes home and discovers that his insane father has created a female cyborg. His previous attempts failed because he used an artificial brain; this time, to avoid this mistake, he takes out his son's brain and puts it into the cyborg. Poor Kenji gains a second life - as a beautiful artificial woman, whose task is to oppose a dubious world government organization.
A bakage with RPG elements. RPG elements presented by physical strength and tactical fighting with enemies. Basically, the game has no plot apart of going somewhere with the aim to return initial body. Point and click system is used. So a weird work with a weird title it is.
5. Tokimeki Memorial ときめきメモリアル [940527] Konami 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10
You are a young boy who is going to study three years at the Kirameki High School in Japan. Your goal is to win the affection of one (and possibly more) of the twelve beautiful girls who also study with you, especially of Shiori, with whom you were in love some years ago. This is a simulation game with a high-developed statistics system. You have to increase your statistics in different disciplines, depending on the girl you are interested in. You communicate with people via your telephone, and date girls by going with them to various places. You have to keep your promises, otherwise a girl will become angry and even tell bad things about you to other girls, which will spoil your reputation.
There are tonns of English reviews on this game, so I'll only notice that it's the first classic dating sim and one of the first full voiced VNs. Its influence on following dating sims and galge was immense.
6. Holidays In The Sun なつやすみがまちどおしい [941] Bolze 1
You play as a girl who has made it her goal to have sex over the summer holiday. She can accomplish this by either being passive or active at various points in the story.

Hero comes to a town in search of adventures and gets to help different girls to get out of difficult situations.
Ero-centered doujin game.
8. Morina もりな [94] Active Gamers
Morina is a lively school girl. She has another busy day as usual when she reaches a mysterious world.
Only pc-88 version is free and available to get and I hardly understood anything out of it.
9. Raika 蕾花 [94] Ringerbell
A stripping card game with five girls as possible opponents and reward after each three games won.
PC-98 version is a card game without visual novel mixes, but Win version might be different. H event is point-and-click with an additional reward of 2-screen CG for getting within time limit.
10. S.A. 2 S.A. 2 [94] A-Inn
A collection of two short erotic stories.
Scenario 1 is about main character's childhood friend being insulted in front of him. Protagonist tries to step in, but is coerced to have sex with childhood friend himself.
Scenario 2 is about main character dating a quiet girl. But this girl has a dark secret - she is forced into a bad group where she gets into intimate relations with strangers.
One of the well-known doujin series notorious for its graphic.
11. Wanderers [94] Crystal Soft 1
You're an adventurer and your best friend is that girl on the cover. So, what do you want in your adventure? Treasure and excitement! What does your best friend want? Lesbian elf sex! And so, both of you go off on a quest filled with magic, mystery, wonder, and elf boobs. There is an actual plot in there somewhere about ancient ruins, but it gets ignored for the most part in favor of more lesbian elf sex.

There aren't masterpieces this month, but Koihime has my sincere sympathy.

Long ago, there was an evil king who loved nothing more than to rape and torture beautiful women. He was so evil that it became taboo to even speak his name. He was slain by a woman that killed him through sex, but 300 years later he is reborn. In order to defeat this ancient evil, the greatest female warriors in the world face off to see who is worthy of fighting and defeating this terror.
Monzetsu Fighter is a card battle game where you play as a female warrior fighting other female warriors and occasionally a boss. Battles simulate rape fights and cards represent different ways of sexually attacking an opponent. As health decreases, characters get cuts, bruises, and lose clothes. The fight ends when one of the combatants passes out, of as the title says, faints in anguish.

2. Sexpress セクスプレス [950512] Ange 1
The protagonist of the game is a young Japanese man who is lucky enough to win a ride on the S-Express, a miraculous train connecting Australia with Canada and going through almost the entire world with stops in Singapore, Japan, China, India, Israel, Russia, France, Ivory Coast, Brazil, Panama, and USA. Nearly the whole game is set on the train itself, with only a few locations accessible within.
There is a concept of time and each character acts according to his timetable like in Classmate. This is the most difficult type of visual novels and only masterpieces can survive here. And sexpress is very close to it. Heroines are very cute and charming, inspiring to clear the game despite the high difficulty.
3. Kankin 監禁 [950518] Illusion 1
The year is 2197. In order to be able to compete with the leading powers of the world, Japan was urbanized, huge city areas covering the entire country. In these huge, soulless cities, crime thrives. Violence is part of everyday life. Female police agents Sagoto, Kikuno, and Chisame are sent to Koube City to arrest drug dealers. But all goes wrong in the very beginning, and the young women fall victims to vicious criminals.
It's an Illusion game so it takes mere minutes for a spree of H events to begin.
4. Amy to Yobanaide エイミーと呼ばないでっ [950519] C's Ware 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
This is a story about a high-school girl named Emi, who fell in love with her younger step-brother. Finally, on her eighteenth birthday, she decides to tell him about her feelings. But suddenly, debt collectors arrive and confiscate everything your father possessed. Tomomi, Emi's step-brother, disappears. Now Emi must find him, her only true love, and to confess to him her feelings.
But on her journey, Emi discovers a different personality inside herself. This other person is called Amy. While the true Emi is a shy, modest girl, her Amy part cares mostly about one thing: to make real her wildest sexual fantasies...
Game is localized and has lots of English reviews.
5. Ballade for Maria マリアに捧げるバラード [950526] FAIRYTALE HARDCOVER 1
In "Ballade For Maria", you control Jake Spikes, a detective from New York. Recently, terrible murders have been happening in Boston. An unknown killer seeks out women and brutally murders them, cutting their hands off. Jake travels to Boston to unravel the mystery, finding out who is responsible for the murders.
It's from the same developer as Necronomicon, so you should know what to expect. Point and click shifted back to command selection with troublesome flags to find (way too many characters having way too many useless dialogue lines and topics to discuss). Game's main feature is depressive atmosphere so unlike Necronomicon it's a full-scale utsuge. Same as Necronomicon there are two endings - bad and very bad. As an experimental game, it has a lot of gore, but almost no nudity thus continuing Koroshi no Dress trend.
6. Koihime 恋姫 [950526] Silky's 1 2 3
Musashi returns to the remote country village where his grandmother lives after being away for 15 years. However, once he gets there, he finds that he has somehow forgotten four different girls whom he had promised to marry when he was a child.
There are two English reviews of this Elf game, but I'd wish to sum it up. Game is set in traditional japanese countryside and has vertical text display to underline this atmosphere. Text is good and full of gags and emotions. So is the tempo. But the volume is small so story is forced like all the girls are in love with the hero from the start. There are 14 good endings even though the story has no branches. By the end there are several battle sequences, but they are ok to loose. So this is a melancholy rural story with a touch of folklore mystics that was notable in 1995, but today there are hundreds of such works, it's not memorable enough to stand out even though both characters and drawing are very cute.
7. Mujintou Monogatari 2 無人島物語２ [950526] KSS Inc. 1
Mujintō Monogatari 2 is a follow-up to Mujintō Monogatari. Like its predecessor, it simulates survival of a group of people on a deserted island - this time, following a ship accident. The basic gameplay is very similar to that of the previous game. The player has to make schedules for the survivors, sending teams to procure necessary supplies such as water, food, light sources, building materials, etc. Only a small part of the island is accessible in the beginning: the player gradually explores it by arranging expeditions. It is possible to manage up to three parties of people, giving each an assignment, which unfolds automatically as the player chooses to complete a day. The survivors' attributes will change depending on the activities chosen by the player.
This time there are finally unique characters and dialogues on events. The basic gameplay stays the same - gather resources, synthesize them and use them to develop and survive. But that also sets the biggest problem - system has to be changed if unique characters and stories are introduced. You can't just leave it as survival strategy with just naming the characters and adding event dialogues. It's definitely more enjoyable than prequel, but still far from masterpiece level.
8. X -Ekkusu- X -エックス- [950526] Studio Mebius
Erika is a 16 year-old high-school student who receives lots of love letters from other girl students. One night space tax collector Seri lands on Erika killing her. In order to regain the body Erika needs to help Seri save the world in the next 500 hours by participating in various interstellar sex events.
In reality after the opening player is thrown to selection between 10 scenes at once. Yuri love in exotic space locations makes he gist of the game.
9. Himitsu Chouhou Buin - 00Nanako-chan 3 秘密諜報部員00ななこちゃんIII [9512] Overture
Parents of Nanako-chan go on a trip. At this time monsters attacks start to happen. Nanako-chan will need to solve this case together with her sister and childhood friend! Third game did not get a Windows version and thus remains obscure.
10. Sailor Bunny Daibakuhatsu セーラーバニー大縛発 [9512] Minto Club
Game is about training a bunny girl in exchange for pocket money.
An ero-centered doujin game.
11. Sinkha [9512] Marco Patrito 1 2 3 4
Sinkha tells the fascinating story of Hyleyn, a bold girl who lives in the mysterious city of Thalissar. This gigantic and gloomy agglomeration of howling metal, located on the hostile planet Ogon, proves to be of great interest to the Sinkha, a race of immortals who send their living starship Darcron to investigate.
There are many English reviews of this game, but what matters to me is that this is the first West originated visual novel and the first windows visual novel.
12. Virgin Angel ヴァージンエンジェル [9512] Crystal Soft 1
In 2080, Tokyo, the capital of Japan, became a center for daring scientific experiments, newest research in space ship technology, and organized crime. A new deadly drug was developed, that enhanced sexual experiences of human beings, eventually subduing their will and turning them into slaves of whoever possessed the drug. A special unit of the police force was assigned to investigate the crimes committed under the influence of the drug, and to find the criminals that distributed it. The player controls the young female investigator Amano Murakumo. Will she be able to survive in this hostile and terrifying world?..
Despite being a doujin game, it has some stunning visuals. There should be at least 4 endings since I saw 1st and 4th one but only 1st one is good while others being ero-centered bad endings.
There aren't masterpieces this month, but I like Rouge no Densetsu the most this month.

But a young girl named Rouge, who trains regularly in the art of sword-fighting, still dreams about a real hero - more precisely, imagines that she will marry one.

3. Hanafuda Graffiti Koikoi Monogatari 花札グラフィティー 恋々物語 [960510] HAMSTER Corporation 1
Hanafuda Graffiti Koikoi Monogatari is a hanafuda game (a type of Japanese playing cards) that features a story mode and a free versus mode. In story mode, the game starts with the main character taking on different challenges in order to become the successor of a prestigious school of hanafuda. Player can enjoy lots of typical gameplay features for adventure game, such as moving around in the town, searching the room for special items and triggering off love story events. In free versus mode, two hanafuda games, Koi-Koi and Hana Awase, are playable. Game instruction can be displayed anytime during gameplay so even beginners can easily enjoy the fun of hanafuda. To fuel up the game further, characters with plenty of personalities and unique reactions will be appearing in the game. Seasoned players can also maximize their hanafuda experience by customizing their game with detailed settings.
There is a free battle mode and a story mode. In story mode we protect the dignity of clan... and go through a series of hanafuda battles all the same.
4. Janki ~Ladies Mahjong League~ 雀姫 ～レディース・マージャン・リーグ～ [960515] Succubus 1
This is an adult Mahjong game with hentai images. The heroine was a well renown singer who's part of a performing troupe. She'd grown up with the troupe, and to her the troupe was her family. One day a royal summon arrived, requesting for her to be the kingdom's royal singer... and with the troupe's encouragement, she accepted the summon and was taken away to the castle. She was told that she was summoned because the King had once heard her voice and wanted her to be his royal singer, that it couldn’t be anyone but her, but when she arrived the King didn't show any sign of this. In fact, he barely acknowledged her arrival, and no one else in the castle seemed to have the need for a royal singer. So why, exactly, was she invited to stay in the castle...?
There are two openings and an ending, but besides that nothing special.
5. File:0 Ghost Killer Kamimura Rei ＦＩＬＥ：０ ゴーストキラー・神村 麗 [960524] Colossus
Kamimura Rei is a ghost killer. She is assisted by shrine maiden Shirui Mika who can listen to the spirits of the deceased. Together they solve thee spirit-related cases.
The three cases are straightforward and rather short. There is enough yuri element in the game. It's nice to see that Miki hobby is BL manga and she can be considered the first visual novel fujoshi. Game starts strong with detailed main heroines profiles and interaction between the heroines is fun, but game ends right after the three short cases and there's no feeling of complete work.
6. Suki! 好き！ [960524] Nikukyuu
Hero's mother and father have gone overseas leaving him with his older sister. A new school year starts today and it's time for new opportunities and new love.
Game's not hookable, but the content is a generic SIM with day planning and looking for girls.
7. Oh! Kitsune-sama Ｏｈ！きつねさま☆ [960531] Curott 1
The protagonist of the game is a young boy who is about to graduate high school and is looking for a job to support himself during the upcoming college years. However, fate intervened and arranged a bike accident, which resulted in a meeting with a creature from another world - a cute fox-girl named Sharan. She needs nothing else but to be together with the hero; but a mysterious voice tells him: "one wish has been fulfilled, two more to go"...
Game from the studio that was probably the first one to specialize in loli. One way story with the meaningful choice only at the end. The appeal points are cuteness, loli and animal-girl. Nothing much besides that.
8. Paparazzo パパラッチ [960531] Ume Soft 1
In Paparazzo the player takes control of a young Japanese male journalist who works for an agency that primarily covers sports events. Dissatisfied with his position, the young man considers becoming a paparazzo, working on his own to get pictures of celebrities. From that point on the plot branches depending on the player's decisions, as the protagonist encounters various women and may pursue relationships with them.
There as many as 11 girls in here. There are bad endings and the decisions determining the ending are done early in game. The game starts as a journalist story but goes on mostly like a love affair story with many H-events. Game's perfectly hookable, but I forgot to enlarge the border while capturing.
9. Sound Novel Tsukuru サウンドノベルツクール [960531] ASCII Corporation
Sound Novel Tsukuru is a Super Famicom graphic novel game where players can either read or create interactive fiction on their own console systems. Stories can be saved either on a battery or through a satellite connection.
The game comes with a previously created graphic novel about exploring an old house. Due to the limitations in the game's engine, it can only show shadows of non-player characters that the player meets on his journey. Settings can range from a modern day train to a rural house and even wilderness can be included in various stages of wildness.
A constructor for creating sound novels. Not even sure if it has premade stories or the videos are based on created stories.
10. Strange World ストレンジ・ワールド [960531] Sorciere
Hero is a college student. To earn his living he participates in hospital brainwaves study tests. He dreams of appearing in a castle as a new employee.
Multiple route and multiple ending adventure with 14 bad endings and only 3 happy ones. So capture is really difficult and the best ending is only achievable with 100% CG. The atmosphere is good, but content is ero-centered.
To Heart is the only masterpiece of May 1997

What a lucky guy, he has a beautiful girl to help him study for his exams. She even accepts him when he ask her to be his girlfriend. From then on, it's study and fun times. He will be happy, if he doesn't get distracted by his classmate or the ghost of his first love.
Girl is a tutor, but actual studying ends pretty soon. Game is of ero-centered nature and has only very short impressions.
2. Kidou Senkan Nadesico ~Yappari Saigo wa "Ai ga Katsu" ?~ 機動戦艦ナデシコ ～やっぱり最後は「愛が勝つ」？～ [970502] Sega
It is a dating sim with players taking the role of Akito Tenkawa and attempting to build relationships with the female crew members, although there are a few mecha elements included.
One more anime offspring. The crew counts 10 members. There are 8 chapters each containing an adventure part with target character emotional scenes and the battle part where you repetitively push one button for the win. What's interesting - if you distract attention in favor of some different girl, the target girl's favorability drops. Anyway, mediocre Saturn exclusive for anime fans.
3. Kojiin ~Kyouki no Ketsuzoku~ 孤児院 ～狂喜の血族～ [970504] K-JOYNT
A dancer girl loses parents, but retains hope while living in the orphanage. Foster parents greet her with joy, but soon she learns the pain and torture in the basement. Girls are trained into slaves here, and her dark humiliation path only starts now.

3. Akazu no Ma あかずの間 [970509] Visit 1
The story (written by Yoshikazu Takeuchi) is a futuristic one, taking place in a near future where the player's character arrives a a building tower in a helicopter and as soon as he arrives there strange things start to happening (he listen to girl screams, strange noises, etc.).
Another sound novel without a single person and about just wondering around the building. As usual, more about senses than a story.
4. Ice Cream アイスクリーム [970509] h.m.p
Come to the lively Shibuya area in Tokyo and get yourself a girlfriend! There are multiple nanpa techniques available to reach the goal. Nanpa games are boring.
5. Kuento ~Wasureenu Hibi ni~ クエント ～忘れ得ぬ日々に～ [970509] Excellents
Collection of three stories.
The first story is about girl Ai and her difficult life with the stepfather told from different perspectives.
All stories seem to have zapping perspectives. Since game only launches on WinME and lower, it's not hookable and I only glanced at other two stories without trying to understand anything. But the first story plot moves like this - Ai quarrels with father, then they hug, then get close. Next Ai past is shown up to the moment she got violated by a guy (and whom she might have killed afterwards). Her female friend that features on the cover listens to this story, gets moved by it and both girls make love, the end.
6. In'yoku no Meikyuu 淫欲の迷宮 [970516] Motion
In this adult hentai visual novel, you must defeat the devil in order to save a certain doctor's world. It has some 3D dungeon exploration such in Ultima. When you encounter enemy events, an animation is played.
Kusoge. 3D dungeon exploration. Much of exploration and H events are animated.
7. Photo Genic フォトジェニック [970516] Sunsoft
In Photo Genic the player controls a young boy that got a job as a photographer. The main goal of the game is to improve the boy stats and photograph skills to make him win the heart of one of the girls of the town.
During the game the player makes decisions about what his character will do each week (gymnastics, study, take another job, etc) to improve his stats. He also can walk around the town to talk to the people and the girls, the more in touch that he is with them the more possibilities to take a better photograph and date them. After taking the photographs the player can view them in the photo gallery.
There are three girls of interest. This work is interesting because it has SIM part as photographer and ADV part of wandering around the town and event scenes. Graphics of this game is really impressive with a lot of bright CG. Cute, but nothing else.
8. Dousei 同棲 [970523] Tactics 1 2
Dōsei is a social and sexual simulation game that focuses on the life of a young Japanese couple. Masaki Yamada and Manami Minase start living together shortly after having graduated from high school. Most of the game is dedicated to the depiction of their everyday life at home, of which the majority explicitly describes their sexual relationship.
That's our first Tactics (Key) game. Drawing is very similar to next "One" game. Game has an English review.
9. Fukushuu 復讐 [970523] Crowd 1
You are a high school student and were embarrassed in front of the class by 4 girls TWICE, each time it was involved with another girl. Now you decide it's time for getting your revenge and you have to choose a partner for additional help..

10. Inshin Miko 淫心魅娘 [970523] T2 Co., Ltd.
During a date in an amusement park hero gets "demon soul" attached to his chest. The girl who did it is a foreign priestess and queen candidate. She asks hero to eliminate other candidates by depriving them from virginity. "Demon soul" attached to the chest slowly eats the soul and there's no other choice but cooperate.
Multiple branches and endings story. It's nice that there are quite many variants of story development and it's not necessary just to capture other priesteses. Capture is difficult as branching is not too evident and the ending depends on both whether to H different girls or not and in which priority to capture them.
11. Nouryokusha 脳力者 [970523] MBS Truth
Our guy got hit by a baseball in a park on his way home. This awaken his special mental powers. His power has 4 targets. They are his childhood girl, teacher, school badgirl, and adopted sister. Since he can see into their heart and can control them, he has his way with them. If he only go after the one he loves, she might save him when the time comes. The main part of this game is nasty, but the happy endings are very sweet.
Content is pretty dark and insulting, but character design is good enough to struggle to the happy ending. Story develops fast, so it's possible to see it all in an hour's time.

At the global academic conference of ancient ruins it was decided to acquire the power of a good dragon in order to deal with the evil dragon. You are Ken, the participant of that conference and you hurry to find the good dragon of China.
Command selection adventure with occasional battles during movement. It's not a serious ADV game, more like and entertainment game for pupils to have fun with battles. Game also features very unusual character design.
13. Seiki ~Ryoujoku no Kamen~ 性鬼 ～陵辱の仮面～ [970523] Outlaw
The protagonist is a high school student that one day finds a magical mask that turns the wearer into a serial rapist, and uses his newly gained powers to score with several of his classmates.
Reverse bullying sick game. The only good thing is that there are several scenarios. System is especially bad as messages tend to skip and often first choice is selected despite your decision.

In this game, you play as Fujita Hiroyuki, a high-school student who seems to have more interest in romance than in his studies. In his school there are several pretty girls, and his goal is to be nice to one of them, to make the right decisions when talking to her, and ultimately to win her heart.

The only review I found says the hero eradicates something strange. Obscure ero-centered work.

Atsushi, the son of a very rich man, returns from abroad to his hometown. After getting some quarrel, his father cancelled giving him money and now Atsushi has to find any temporary work around the whole city. You as Atsushi try various jobs – from stadium to the hospital or the news agency. There are also plenty of pretty girls around the city and you make attempts to get them known better and maybe even eventually date with one of them.
ADV with location choice on the map. Each week you try a new job and there's a new girl at each job. It's a light work with a comedy touch.
Diabolique and Hajimari no Kisetsu ~Izakaya Fuyu Monogatari~ are the masterpieces of the month, but Diabolique is a product of much bigger scale and thus is VN of the Month.

Keiichi Kikuchi is a 3rd grade student who likes to read and talks to the flowers on the roadside. There is a girl who is afraid to confess her feelings to him, there are cats who attack people at nights and there are other evils at school. Everything shall depend on the actions of the hero.
Setting is a mess and game relies on it only occasionally. Period is 5 days and you just wander around the school and bump into events, then night times and you wander some more generating different kind of events. The invasion of cats, occasional scary events, indifference towards events nearby - it all looks very random and fragmented. There are many mistakes in the text. Girls endings aren't seen as happy endings. There are still many well depicted insult scenes so probably it was ment as an eroge.
3. Akai Hitomi no Serafu 紅い瞳のセラフ [980502] Bishop
Kogo and his lover Ai are in a relationship for two years, but they never were intimate with each other. Even when Kogo's parents go on a trip his suggestion is rejected by Ai. Kago tried to summon a love angel with a spell, but failed with it. As a result, love of this world was confined and in order to save love he needs to enter the spirit world, interact with its inhabitants and rescue love withing a limited time period.
One way road with only bad ending on time limit expiration. Bishop is an eroge maker company, but this first work can actually be viewed as pure love story despite having some harsh content.
4. Kana-chan no Kanzen Kyuuketsu Manual かなちゃんの完全吸血マニュアル [980515] Segue Laboratory
Vampire girl Kana-chan is less than adult, but more than kid. She lives in the vampire family of four where only mother is actually a human. These are stories about Kana-chan first experiments with sexuality.
No synopsis to be found around, but CG don't really feature vampires and blood, it's sucking something else.
5. P.D. The Gate City P.D. The Gate City [980515] Platinum Soft
From ancient times there have been evil spirits to mislead human hearts. Paranormal awakening was become a way to combat these spirits. Awakening must be done through stimulating sensual body parts. Today this function is transferred to P.D. - psycho detectives. Main character such a detective who encounters a case of
ghost possession at an official reception.
Sadly, H-action still dominates here.

Main character Toshiki Kannazuki is an ordinary salaryman who lives with his lover. One day cousin invited his lover on a trip to Middle East country Taglania. Toshiki reluctantly agreed to let them go. However, an aircraft crash accident occurs and Toshiki flies over to try to identify the bodies. On arrival he meets a mysterious beauty Maya. He accepts her hospitality not knowing that succubus inhabits this region.
Story is actually very thin compared to the synopsis. Both girls are alive and are entangled into strange activities... that make the game NTR type. There are as many as 14 endings. Voicing is highly praised here.
7. Sunadokei 砂時計 [980521] Bell-Da
A corpse of a man is found at the hotel beach. The protagonist is an aspiring detective who agrees to solve this case while chasing after pretty girls staying at the hotel.
The whole investigation is asking pretty girls what they know/saw/think and that eventually solves the case. It's mostly an erotic game.
8. Castle Fantasia キャッスルファンタジア [980522] Studio e.go! 1 2
You are a knight named Varu who has a very beautiful girlfriend and is very happy with her. However, one day their kingdom get involved in a war, and the girl's parents die in it. After some time, an unknown religious organization appears in the city. Varu's girlfriend is in such a grief after the death of her parents, that she decides the world has nothing to offer to her, joins the adepts of the new religion, and leaves the city. Varu becomes very depressed after this separation, but when he learns the religious group which took away his girlfriend became an evil cult that kidnaps girls and seeks resurrection of demons. But even more awful is the fact his ex-girlfriend is now the leader of this cult...

Hero visits an inn in the town for the first time in 20 years. 20 years ago a tragedy happened there and he's interested in reinvigorating old memories. However, he can also make new memories with pretty girls of the inn.
Game is definitely an eroge. Vision excels in animation and there is indeed a huge number of animated H events here.
10. Yami no Sasayaki ~Dark Whisper~ 闇のささやき～Dark Whisper～ [980522] Misty
Michitaka Michigami studies at a full board school that puts a huge emphasis on martial arts. Students aren't allowed to leave school grounds and keep any devices including radio and there's a habit to obey teachers orders there. Hero and girl Reiko rebelled against excessively strict measures and got close to each other on this basis. What are the prohibited locations in this school for and what kind of experiment is being held there?
Single road adventure. SF school setting. Did not get far there due to bug of cycled dialogue options, but game has a very distinct erotic tilt.
11. Diabolique DiaboLiQuE－デアボリカ－ [980528] Alice Soft 1 2
In this world, here are two kinds of intelligent beings. One are humans and the other are Diaboliques. Diaboliques possess power, violence, intelligence, and eternal life. Their life form was categorized into four levels, the lowest division lacking intelligence, reproduction ability and beauty and the fourth being very intelligent and able to change form.
For thousands of years, human race has been suppressed by the danger of diabolique. However, a legend has passed on through generation that there's diabolique that kills its own species. This diabolique was Azulite - one of the only five Road Diabolique (the ones of highest category). Being known as the "species killer," Azulite has come up to kill diaboliques. At here, he met a girl named Letticia. Her innocence and tragic background has attracted Azulite, and soon Azulite fell in love with her. However, the two lovers were separated after Letticia was killed. They promised to see each other when she was reincarnated. Carrying with the promise, Azulite once again set off on a journey looking for Letticia.

Game imitates a TV show in which 5 females and 5 males ask questions to each other, fulfill tasks, form sympathy and form a couple if the sympathy is mutual.
There are five girls and five mini-games to win favorability. Game's pretty short.
13. Renkinjutsu no Musume 錬金術の娘 [980528] Black Package 1
Hero was born in a rich house and he uses assets to finance extreme alchemy experiments to recover lost secrets. There are three students in this academy to take care of and try new inventions effects in dungeons with.
So it's a raising SIM with items combinations. Visiting a private room with one of the three students is possible, but students coverage is thin. There's hardly any explanation at all. Not even of items do or when the next dungeon trip occurs and that's pretty bad since going in the dungeon without items is not good. No significant story noticed.

A side story of the Shoujo Kakumei Utena, set between episodes 8 and 9 of the TV series.

You just moved out from home where your stepmother and stepsister live, into a house where four other females live, including the landlady/caretaker. You also study in a local temple.
As you soon find out, the monk you are learning from is a master of SM training, and you are to become a SM trainer under his guidance. Also, the landlady is the widow to one of the monk's pupil. The husband passed away before he can finish training her, and she has been in depression ever since. Now it fells on your shoulder to finish her training and lead her to happiness. Along the way you will also have the opportunities to interact/train other tenants in the house.

His girlfriend from #1 came back. Now what is he going to do since he already has a girlfriend from #2. He will have to decide which one he wants, but in the mean time, he still enjoys the girls around him. This time, he can pick one of two girlfriends or stay the same as before.
Third part of the series is not translated to English and thus less known. The love triangle is a new feature, but the game really treats relations lightly. When found in a pinch hero just goes to sleep and it gets to resolve somehow by itself. And there are still lots of sub-heroines for cheerful and light H events.
19. Konpeki Tou Kumiai 紺碧塔組合 [980529] Outlaw
Master Ladrinado Oz traveled to the Emerald City adventurer guild headquarters to become a hero. Together with the seven companions their adventure begins.
Even though it's SRPG, there aren't its usual elements like attack or defend stats or elements... mechanics take some time to get used to, like attacking is not profitable, but counterattack is much more favorable. Your enemies will include sailor schoolgirls, shrine maidens, swimsuit schoolgirls etc
20. Mind [980529] Manbou Soft
Kitamiya is a shop clerk at purchasing department of high school. Using a dubious aphrodisiac that does remain in the memory he sets up physical examination sessions for various girls.
Volume is small and contents ero-centered. Neither scenario, nor characters are appealing.

Story is shaped as hero's monologue. Basically, there's little story. Hero wanders around the school in the evening and some events momentarily occur to him. Game is of fragmentary nature and ends with a fancy which is a waste for the unique atmosphere it creates. There are several heroine ends, but there are also some not pleasant bad ends. Text is good, but it's a sensualist thing rather than a coherent story. There's an English review.
