God of Conquest

Hi everyone. Wow, it's been a while! Right now I'm reading Fate/Stay Night. I'm enjoying it immensely, but would enjoy it much more immensely if the text window didn't cover most of the screen: I much prefer a smaller window at the bottom of the screen, i.e. how Key does things: Is anyone else bothered by the size of the text windows in some VNs? Anyone have an idea how to reduce the size?

Right now I'm playing the Saki route in Snow Sakura. If you're not familiar with the story, basically I go to live with my cousin and we have a relationship. Kind of like the Nayuki route in Kanon, but with more sex. Anyway, we just got found out by the vice principal of our school. Because of our inappropriate relationship, he suspended me and sent Saki to live with someone else. Can schools in Japan really do shit like this? This is an absurd amount of power. Even to mention that sort of relationship, much less punish it, would definitely be seen as overstepping one's bounds in an American school.

Have any of you played Snow Sakura? Just wanted to know what your thoughts were. I'm enjoying it immensely.

That's true, isn't it? This explains a great deal, as I'm very much a romantic myself. The fantasy-esque, dreamlike feel of Kanon was half the fun, and as someone who spends a lot of his time in foreign, unfamiliar environments I could very much identify with the "new guy in an unfamiliar setting" theme. Please let me know what you think of Kanon as you continue to watch.

Interesting. I feel like Clannad is something that I should at least try to like, since it's such a classic. You know what I mean? Ok. See, I was surprised that Clannad didn't do to me what Key's other big name, Kanon, did, because it's very similar stylistically. Would you agree? Then again, Clannad doesn't have Makoto. ;_;

So I am thinking about picking up Clannad. People keep telling me it's a classic, I need to read it, etc. But I watched part of the anime last year, and found it entirely uninteresting. If I felt this way about the anime, what are the chances that I'll enjoy the VN?

Harry, can you tell me a little about Touhou? I've always thought it would be cool to get into, but it never really seemed particularly accessible. I know it's like a fan-made game or something, right?

Thanks for the warm welcome everybody. Harry, that's a good question. I had trouble getting into the manga, and put it down after the first volume. In fact, I was initially quite skeptical of the anime. However, I ended up enjoying the anime immensely. I would love to see it as a VN--such a thing doesn't exist, does it?

Hey, as you guys get more VNs listed you should get a search feature. I was looking around on the site and couldn't find one. Also: how old is this site anyway? I just saw a link to it on /jp/ and people were talking about it like it's some new thing.

Hi Tay. I post on /a/ and /jp/ a lot so I've been familiar with them for a while. My first VN was Katawa Shoujo. I've always like the idea of VNs but I never really got into it, because I had a hard time finding translations. It was great to have one that was actually written in English, and that is actually a classic VN--required reading, if you will! Right now I'm reading Fate/Stay Night and Snow Sakura. I've only started FSN so I'm a little iffy on it so far but Snow Sakura is really good. I know some would say that it rips off Kanon, but I would say that it's rather an affectionate homage than a ripoff. How about you Wow. I'm poor as dirt, so whenever I get a new manga volume it's a real treat and I read it right away. At any rate, TWGOK is fucking amazing. Check it out.
