Which version of HHG do you suggest? There are 2 versions of it.

Some of these have really intriguing setups, as well as some tags that get me intrigued. But having read a lot of VNs with covers that show nothing but the heroines (hand-reaching, holding their hands to their chests, and looking stupid) I have become rather afraid that these will turn out to be slice of life, moe, boredom. Now, the reason I didn't dislike Draculius's SoL, is because slice of life in Draculius, is no where near the point of the game and are kept at short lengths far inbetween. Can you go over these for me, and tell me if their SoL, Moege aspects aren't at lengths? (disliked Tiny Dungeon because of it) Hyper High Genius Tenshi no Hane o Fumanaide (The themes here on display sound interesting and amazing) Ojou-sama no Hanbun wa Ren'ai de Dekiteimasu! Ojou-sama wa Gokigen Naname (The description sounds amazing, you've described it as economical struggle before and I've had it on my mind since) Kikan Bakumatsu Ibun Last Cavalier (Caramel Box always worries me for some reason, lmao) Re:birth Colony -Lost Azurite- Also, I don't really mind if they're OP, as long as the scenarios are compelling, and the game doesn't try to lie to you about it. Like the trope of "underpowered underdog" is especially something I hate, when they try to sell the villains are big, bad and mean, and they're just really nothing but hot air. You know, how some writers will make the protagonist "smart" by writing everyone else to be idiots. By the way, what do you mean by "kicks"? As in laughs? Not "Umf" right?

Do you know any other that has as great a protagonist as Jun from Draculius? He really offered perspective, wasn't OP, and really smart. I literally just finished it. I am ecstatic right now, I tried Dies Irae, but the protagonist was really awful, a shit ton of pacing issues, weak villains that were always weaker. None of the heroes got hurt, and they were static from beginning to end(Protagonist especially). When I asked people said this is the Chuuni genre. Draculius is none of that, the characters all get development, from small to major. Is Draculius even a Chuuni? You said that Grisaia has similar writing to it, that's surprising. They both have the same writer. I couldn't get into the game because of how weak the game's "comedy" and characters, and I can't say it does have anything similar to Draculius from what I read so far. Does it actually get better later on?

By the way, thank you so much for that Draculius suggestion. I really liked the protagonist, he really was special. I don't think I've played a VN with a highschool setting this well thought. The protagonist isn't the "overpowered underdog" trope that you see all the time in Chuuni, things don't always go to plan, he loses limps, his perspective on people changes, and even a friend. Jun's enemies are competent, and compelling. Great setting for a vampire VN, it's just really well written, well executed piece.

I should've asked this then, but allow me to do so now. What are the titles you removed?
  6. What does this mean? Does it mean outside of lying, he's not very articulate? Is there something that you think OP might not like this protagonist?

    Thanks a bunch.

I don't know what that means exactly. Does the game just go long boring stretches of Slice of Life like Tiny dungeon? also "a 'joke' path where Jun doesn't make the full transition to a vampire during the story (focused on Rian and Zeno)" Does this mean that those 2 heroines' routes are jokes?

The ones inside the spoiler look really interesting, Draculius especially. I tried looking up a few reviews, but a quick scan spoiled a major development in the game. Can you talk about it, and give it a few descriptions for me? Romance, Chuuni, Moe, Slice of Life(the last two I consider worthless), Intrigue. Looking at the description in VNDB shows there is a level of political intrigue, which is just my jam. I don't like Slice of life, nor Moeges.
  10. Man, this game has some severe pacing issues.
  11. I understand, thank you two for your answers. That answers things.
  12. Somehow I didn't get a notification for this answer as I was waiting for the notification sign to pop up. Anyway, is Kasumi's route not important to play before Rea, and Mari?
  13. I started with Rea, but I read somewhere that I need to restart the game asap, and pick another route. Kasumi, Kei, Marie, and then Rei. Can I play with that order and go Kei, first then Kasumi? I'd like to go for Kei first as she has a Mayadere tag.
  14. I quickly scanned the tags for the game and didn't see a romance tag, I guess I was wrong. (It was small, so that's probably why I didn't see it.) Then I'll also pick Cartagra. It looks intriguing.
  15. As far as I am aware, Umineko is an romance-less story?
  16. I have played G-senjou no Maou. The game is rather pretentious as some characters will talk over each other just so the author demonstrates that they're "smart" like bringing up quotes, or a saying that is so out of place and doesn't relate to the topic, simply for the sake of having quotes. Not deeply well thought out, and sometimes don't make sense if you just give them a minute of thought. Really, most of the romance titles I have read have the protagonist, and the heroine falling for each other, a simple crush. Which is fine in real life, but it is boring to read especially without events happening. Moeges especially have a weird train of dialogue, not really how people speak to eachother. Some of the characters will just feel like badly programmed robots who have been fed quotes, or sayings to say at random. Example It was impossible to truly determine the single greatest moment of your life until you were looking back on things from your deathbed, of course. But I was sure everyone had wished for similar at least once It's common to read VNs with backwards logic where a heroine will beat the protagonist, berate him for his stupidity, then the cast will make the leap of logic that they like each-other. It is especially obnoxious if the heroine is just unthinkably selfish, stupid, self-servant, and down-right gullible. People find gullible appealing, and "cute." But unless characters grow out of that phase, and develop, I dislike it. The characters feel static. I want something like the love relationship in Flowers Sur Ete, the two heroines feel like they feed off of eachother. Negatively, or positively. They love each other for a reason, and are willing to give a piece of themselves for the other person. It does feel like they were made for each other, true love.
  17. No, I'm not talking about sexual orientation. I'm talking mainly about the protagonist, and the heroine's dynamics. Their short-comings, and how they cope with it, but also how those shape their interactions and their persons. The world around them, and their friendships. As well as how it uses some of their personalities to set up specific moments for emotional impact. Honestly, I also liked the dialogue as well. I need something like that. The characters are both sharp, and smart. Not in the usual "I'm 12, and I'm smart" kind you usually see in Chuuni VNs. I also hate moeges, always a waste of time.
  18. I actually played Sideboob Story, again but this time in English. It's just my game, I played all the games in that series. 1-3, and all the If games. I liiiiike them a lot, third game didn't have the quality of the first 2, but it blew them away in terms of world building. I'm waiting for the 3 If's new side story.
  19. Yeah, I didn't like Grisaia. I didn't read all of it, and I can't tell you exactly where I left it off. But I've read a few hours off of it, I felt the jokes bounced off the wall kind of boring, and honestly I don't like its sitcom kind of comedy. Humor is really subjective after all, so these are hit-or-miss. When I was reading it, I was trying really hard to stay focused. Honestly, in general I have a hard time focusing and remaining attentive so SoLs just lose me. That was before I started skipping reading like I did with Tiny Dungeon, and when I skipped there I honestly didn't feel lost, I felt rewarded for skipping so I stopped reading Tiny Dungeon. Maybe I can skip the common route in Grisaia too.
  20. Heh, from what you said about Rewrite, I thought you didn't like it. But you have it highly voted. How come? Also, you have read and voted Grisaia highly as well. I am sure I've read well into it. I dropped it around 600 years ago because at some point I couldn't just read anymore of it. Does it ever get interesting, and would I need to read 3 million hours to get to that point?
  21. Yeah, according to VNDB its Long Common Route tag is massively upvoted. So it's definitely a long common route by pretty much everyone's standards. I read YU-NO. I have to say the first half was quite the chore, but the second half when he gets transported to the other side gets really fucking interesting. Things get really fantastical in that half, concepts get introduced, aging factor, and a lot of things about how that world is run. I love it, I love how the game managed to make a character that doesn't utter 5 sentences seem MUCH more likeable than mopey, sulky, or dunce characters with hundreds of lines of dialogue. Just my damn thing, even the protagonist gets a ton of character development, outside of the sex scenes that is lol. There was a sense of wonder, and intrigue that just kept me entertained. I am honestly satisfied with it.
  22. Read a little about Rewrite, apparently its the kind of game I'd never like to go anywhere near. People are saying it is a long common route game, in which that common route consists of mind numbingly boring "SoL".
  23. What games are in the 1% that you liked? Hoof, that's definitely something that's gonna drive me off. Definitely not gonna check that one... Ever17 and Little Busters are definitely not something I'm ever going to read based on that. Thanks for the warning, you saved me buddy. Also, on Danganronpa, I actually watched the first two games on youtube I think they're handheld right? Incredible games, and stories, god bless them. But I haven't read the third seen the third one, people seem to not like it as much. What are your thoughts? Yeah, I'm not in the proper mentality to read something like that. I'll pass... I still want to live. I read a little bit on this actually. I've seen someone who has played only 2 episodes out of the 8 episodes, and he said they're boring. In the comments of that thread, people were saying the first 10 hours are nothing, and you can't judge the series based on that. But I don't want to read for 10+ hours of something boring and only then can I maybe see if I'll enjoy it or not.
  24. FSN, Dies Irae Protags are definitely not edgelords. They're the opposites, they're clueless, badly programmed robots, and a couple of dunces.
