  1. Not gonna lie Akira's route was gratuitous in the amounts of sex, probably because it ran out of plot and just became a bore to read so they threw that in to pad the time I guess? I dunno, Naoki became boring and Akira became boring, both losing all semblance of their personalities because gotta protect each other in roundabout ways I guess? And then have sex every time they find out one was trying to protect the other. First two routes were much more tactful, not a fan of this and probably going to skip Kurumi's now just to try and see the after stories.
  2. Yeah you weren't kidding, first thing they did the next day of Akira's arc is establish he's going out with Nanako as blatantly as possible. Lmfao.
  3. I'm a little confused during Naoki's Love Triangle Arc just which ending it goes off of? It obviously isn't Sakura's route but at the same time all the details don't line up with it having been Nanako's route either. Is it supposed to be Nanako's or neither?
  4. I've definitely had or in some ways still do I guess, the feeling of wanting a character/loving them even if they are fictional. If I could spend a day with them that would be cool, the rest of my life amazing, but yeah. Kurisu jumps to mind for that though at the same time I also wouldn't want to come between her and Okabe if he also existed. But, it also isn't mutually exclusive to the visual novel medium or 'love' interests in general. There are characters from all sorts of mediums I wish I could interact with, either in their story or outside of it. Victor Frankenstein from the original novel jumps to mind, Okabe in Steins;Gate jumps to mind, Micaiah and Sothe from Fire Emblem or Minato from Persona 3, Shepard from Mass Effect, Link and Zelda from any number of their incarnations, all jump to mind as well. All character who've impacted me growing up that I'd love to meet.
  5. Winter, nothing like a little melodrama through the season which feels usually more emotionally charged, as compared to the summer where it's all about the swimsuits and fireworks. Edit: I hate winter IRL because I live in New England, and Summer is too hot. Spring or Fall plz.
  6. My end goal in life basically, albeit it probably won't be 'me' consciously but rather a copy of 'me'.
  7. This is the other reason, I'm sure some will just say 2d > 3d
  8. I don't have any porn on my shelves for partly this reason exactly. Though some answers might be, remove it when the time comes and put it in the back of a closet/throw it out like I'm sure many other people did with their porn magazines as kids before us.
  9. I never buy physical copies, my "weeb" merch consists of figures and some manga but besides that I don't have room for storing much else since I also have other things I like decorating my room (sports and music memorabilia mostly).
  10. Honestly there are probably a host of reasons as people have mentioned here. In some cases it might just be a random trait added to distinguish the character. Others it might be because the author thought it was cool looking. Some it's because it directly relates to some 'power' the character has (the eyes being an important symbol/container of power in lots of anime/visual novel and other media like that). Some because it makes the character 'stand out' just like crazy hair helps characters stand out from the noise in more crowded settings to help signify that "HEY, THIS CHARACTER IS IMPORTANT SO PAY ATTENTION TO THEM." Maybe the author thought it was hot or as the guy above me said it seems exotic/out there. Any number of these reasons could be why it is there, at the author's whim, you just have to sort of look at the context of it to try and decipher why a specific author used it. Is the character cool? Probably added because they thought it was cool. Is the character otherwise pretty plain looking? Maybe it was to help distinguish them from the riff-raff.
  11. I'm very character driven, not waifu necessarily but characters in general. No matter how good anything else may or may not be if the characters blow (in my opinion, anyway) I don't care that much. Is that a category? And I don't thing unoriginal characters and stuff are bad, as long as they aren't completely one dimensional or make no sense in the logic of the world they're in I'm okay. And I guess cuter characters make me less critical of them, but my patience in that regard has limits. Small exception is stuff with gameplay, I will play those as long as the characters are serviceable (ie don't annoy the crap out of me).
  12. I can definitely understand that. If I'm being completely honest when I read that one I fast-forwarded through all the routes except for 2, because you have to do them all to unlock the last. Honestly if you're struggling with it I don't think Comyu is worth the effort. It was fine but it wasn't anything that great. I didn't regret reading it but it's not something you'll get anything out of forcing yourself through I think.
  13. "Roses are blue, violets are red, I have to go to the bathroom." - Rough translation
  14. I think it's fine to dissuade people from buying things like that, but being abusive is always too far. Which is what I get from the term "toxic".
  15. Yeah, I didn't include this on my thing because I've only tried to read it once or twice as opposed to a great many of times but that's another one I struggled with. Then again I tend to have a bit more difficulty with any visual novel of the sort with a dude surrounded by girls and no other men, even if they are just throw away characters. The entire setting of Grisaia just wasn't for me but I know people love it so it may become one of those I try again and again in the future.
  16. Not biased btw But yeah I agree Steins;Gate is one of my favorites, I've read it several times so I can agree with it. Reading it again with a friend now even. I didn't really like Kara 2 at all, so I can't relate entirely because I just don't like the type of story so I didn't get into it at all. Seabed I have no experience, but that sounds a bit interesting anyway maybe I'll try it out. And with Hatsukoi, yep, he's like a wet paper bag really. I mean I don't really ever expect them to be great, but where there at leaves so much to be desired. I have it, but haven't started it yet. That's a bit disheartening to hear. Clannad is definitely a pain to get into and through unless you want to see particular girls routes I feel. Especially since the anime itself does a pretty good job adapting the Afterstory anyway. Steins;Gate is also pretty difficult because of all the science jargon and exposition towards the start. It's only saving grace is the mystery for that early part, unless you've seen the anime. And Seabed I haven't checked out, so that seems like an interesting conundrum I'll be sure to take a look> That's a lot, though I definitely feel like I struggled with Clannad when I started it I did finish it. I haven't really tried much for the others you've mentioned except Kara no Shoujo 2 which I didn't like so I stopped after one try.
  17. I think criticism of translations is fine. But being rude or abusive to people doing their best is pretty unacceptable. I was actually just thinking this myself today seeing response on reddit to White Album 2's closing chapter thing. I can't vouch for how good it is or isn't but it seemed pretty hostile.
  18. Apologies if this topic has been posted a lot or is pretty common, I'm new here. And I really didn't know what to search for it, and just wanted to participate in this community a bit. So yeah, as the title says anything you haven't been able to get into despite numerous attempts? Why do you keep trying to get into it if that's the case? Did you finish any where this was a problem for you? For me there are a few, Cross Channel I've tried a few times but haven't made it past the start really. I keep going back because I do generally like the genre but I just get bored of it pretty early I guess? Maybe I'll try again soon.
  19. I've read Steins;Gate probably three or four times actually. Though I don't read the alternative endings and just go straight through for the true one. Right now I'm reading it with my friend. (I read male voices/narration out and she reads female voices).
