Just as you wrote that, another 0.5% got translated. Just kidding. But 5 months is for the translation to be finished if everything continues at this pace. There might be other things that need to be done, like UI or proofreading too. With that said, I've finished translating visual novels with like 10k lines in less than a month before.

You're right. It's also a poor way of running a TL project, hence the speculation and confusion. I think Littleshogun explanation is right, and there is just stuff happening behind the scenes.

I've been a translator for multiple projects myself and this rate of progress is not normal, especially when it's so close to finishing. The silence from the TL team isn't helping. No, they're not "obligated" to finish it, but that's neither here nor there. No serious project can last with that mindset.

Most visual novels are definitely written by people who would never pass as authors, especially when it comes to repetition and redundant lines. So many, including good ones have this mantra of: --- "I thought that it sounded strange" MC : "Doesn't that sound strange?" Girl : "You're right, that does indeed sound strange" "She agreed with me, also saying that she found it strange" --- Another case of redundancy are scenes that could be skipped entirely without losing track of the plot. I can tolerate this with SoL novels, but there is no reason story-focused visual novels should waste people's time. Higurashi is a big culprit of this, while White Album 2 has near-perfect pacing.

The House in Fata Morgana is truly a masterpiece. You won't regret reading it.
