eduarddato12 Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 I really liked Yamato from majikoi, and the guy from Grisaia was very good too. I read muv luv extra and princess evangile ,and i was really disapointed. Both MCs were indecisive spineless cucks, and it was really annoying. In what visual novels the MCs are good Quote
Dokken Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 Depends what you call a good MC. If you want a very confident MC, like Rance, Bunny black. I liked YU-NO MC too. Fate / Stay (quite the debate here though). Quote
Monmon Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 Kuro from Demonbane is a badass n funny, Kenichi fron sharin is unique,Dra†KoI mc got a potty mouth but awesome, kamidori mc is a man slut,Hanachirasu mc is a beautiful guy with some murder issues,And Deardrops mc is a violin prodigy. thts some of mc tht i think intresting. Rabbit Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 A good MC is upto to the individual opinion proved by the two different thread of favorite and least dislikes protagnoist where Yuuji was mentioned quite abit on both. Since I don't know what VNs you have read i'll just proceed with the assumption that you haven't read anything but the ones you mentioned. For me the protagnoist in Ayakashibito was good, I quite enjoyed him for a majority of the time whilst reading that VN. Aswell as in Sharin no Kuni Himawari no Shoujo, though I didn't like him for parts of the VN I never hated him and I still thought his character was good. Quote
Wonderfullyevil Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 Rose Guns Days - Leo is a fun guy. I've only played a little, but I'm charmed right away. He's fun, lighthearted, strong, and decisive. Remember11 - Kokoro is a rare female MC in the VN world. And even rarer is how natural her character is. She isn't indecisive and spineless, but she isn't completely sure of herself either. She's a pretty average girl, which makes her likable. Satoru is really smart and capable of things. But isn't dry either. He also takes the time to make info clear with the player and shares his thoughts. Neither of them stand out that much though. Shikkoku no Sharnoth - Another rare female MC. Mary's really cute with solid characterization that makes her relatable. She does fall to the indecisive side, but she grows really nicely. The way it's pulled off isn't that irritating either, at least for me. I've heard of people who don't like her, so maybe it's not a good mention, but I will anyway. Umineko no Naku Koro ni - It might be a bit hard to classify who's the protagonist here due to several perspectives, but they're all great. Determined and complex, with both their good and bad sides. Clephas Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Mmm... I agree on Abyss, but Gekkou no Carnevale (in fact all Nitroplus's protagonists) is a dameningen... Nitroplus loves to make out their mature protagonists to be worthless layabouts, incompetents, and overall failures, lol. Quote
LinovaA Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Best MC I have ever seen was Asagiri Kaito from Akatsuki no Goei. He is just one of the best characters I have ever seen. He is like, the ultimate badass. Quote
kingdomcome Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 sharin no kuni <-- best character ever Yeah, he is awesome. If I can remember properly, Azai from G senjou no maou was a badass too. Though its been awhile since reading this VN. Same publisher for both VN's. Quote
Shiki Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 Rewrite~ Kotarou was really funny but could also be pretty badass. Cross Channel~ I don't know if this is an unpopular opinion. I understand why some people might hate him but I think that he was extremely interesting and well developed. Quote

I understand why some people might hate him but I think that he was extremely interesting and well developed. Rewrite and Cross Channel were actually written by the same people, though he did get some assistance. Ryushiki wrote Lucia's route and Chihaya/Shizuru's routes went to...someone else. I don't really remember who. They're actually quite similar I've heard, though Kotarou is obviously an all-ages protagonist. Umineko I'd have to say has one of my favorite protagonists. Battler might be average in some cases, but the development was handled so beautifully that there's no doubt he's earned all the amazing-ness he has by the end. Quote

I don't think that Kotarou and Taichi are that similar... I haven't played Rewrite in a while but I don't don't remember Kotarou being anything like Taichi. Maybe I'm just forgetting. They both are amazing though. I wasn't aware that they had the same writer. That's interesting. It's no wonder that I like them both so much. Also, I was thinking about playing Umineko next and what you just said was pretty persuasive. I had never really heard anything about Umineko's protag (not that I've done much research). It's nice to know that he's not a bad character. Quote
Kurokusari Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 I don't really know what you define as a 'good' protagonist so I'll just throw in the ones that I thought that were 'good'. Yuuji from Grisaia Trilogy Kenichi from Sharin no Kuni Hakuoro from Utawarerumono Yuuto from Dracu-riot! and many more! Yeah as you can see I define good protagonists as people who can actually think and/or be decisive about it. I don't like those who keeps wavering whenever they need to choose. And a personal preference of mine is him to have a sense of humor. Not really a requirement for me but it's a plus in my book. Quote

Cross Channel~ I don't know if this is an unpopular opinion. I understand why some people might hate him but I think that he was extremely interesting and well developed. kotarou can be pretty cool but(few times in akane's route) but other times he is a total dick without redemption without any clue about what's going on around him at all! (like the way he acts in the kotori's route) Quote

It's nice to know that he's not a bad character. Kotarou definitely has some perverted tendencies, but he never follows up on them like Taichi does. There are also plenty of other different character traits between the two. However, I'd say that their senses of humor are almost identical. Perhaps Taichi is a bit more nonsensical. Quote

(like the way he acts in the kotori's route) I guess I need to re-play Rewrite because I don't remember him being like that. The last time I played it was when it was just first translated and I went through it a bit too fast because the length was so long and I just started reading visual novels. I found Kotori's route a bit of a bore so I held the ctrl button a few times. Quote

That and how he owned everyone in the moon and terra route. Kotarou was almost a different person in each of the routes tbh. The different situations definitely affected that. Quote
