Query about Muv-luv Alternative

So I am playing through the game and have reached chapter 4, where you get a sketchbook from a character.

This causes him to think back to his original world, my question is this:

In the original Japanese text, am I right in assuming its not as obvious as Kasami and Samika are just slightly changed names?

Cause when you look at it that way, there's really no reason he'd not get it, so I'm assuming cause phonetically they aren't just slight variants?

Japanese doesn't work the same as english. The names have no actual similarity. They're written completly differently.

As you can see, it's more or less a coincidence.

That, and Kasumi isn't her real name.
