VN-Angel Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Hm? Correct me if I'm wrong, but a light novel is, like, 200 pages per volume or so, right? And it's light. Thus quick to read. Reading 200 pages probably takes about 3 hours for the average reader, and a 1-cour series is about 2 volumes and is about 4h30 long, so it's within the same range of time. Most of them are over 300 pages as far as I know. Reading 200 pages probably takes about 3 hours for the average reader, and a 1-cour series is about 2 volumes and is about 4h30 long, so it's within the same range of time. The problem is most LN to anime adaptation is 1-cour --> 4 volumes ( Campione, DAL , oreimo etc ) and therefore, watching anime obviously require less time(and less details). Quote
VN-Angel Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Being someone who pretty much never read light novels, my question would be, are most of them a lot better than the anime? Yes, most of them are better than anime because the strong point of LN lies in its emotion-express writing style. So when you watch a LN --> anime adaptation, you will realize anime can't express the emotion of characters perfectly like LN and that makes the anime version somewhat lacking. I've heard that Sword Art Online's light novel version is infinitely better. SAO anime is not that bad. People say LN is better mainly because of GGO arc(which hasn't animated) Quote
meru Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 I don't really read light novels.. I read a lot of "real" novels (for lack of a better word.. I don't mean they're better than LN!) , so I don't really have time for light novels. I'm reading Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai for Japanese practice though. Not got very far yet, but if I enjoy it then I might start reading more LN Quote

Do you read English or Japanese novels? Quote

Yeah, I guess I just wanted to specify! Only English right now.. I hope that one day my Japanese ability will be good enough that I can actually enjoy a Japanese novel, rather than finding it a chore because I have to stop every minute to look something up. Hmm maybe I'll make a thread about books/novels in the General forum.. Quote

Sparkker Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Summarize if for me? ;P Though , I feel it's late for me to reply to this... But why would I Summarize it? It's filled with tons of myth-related stuff. So it'll be a much more bigger pain than reading the story whole. Wooo. Vol.5 Of Oda Nobuna<< Ichiban Daimaou- Vol.3 << Woot Quote
