solidbatman Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 In 8 months, it will be Christmas! That has no relation to this give away, but I thought I would let you know. Anyway, back on topic. After seeing how quickly the Crunchyroll Guest Passes get snatched up, I thought people might like the chance to get a free 3 month membership to Crunchyroll. For those that don't know, Crunchyroll is one of the largest, if not the largest, subbed anime streaming websites around. Just about every show currently airing this season, is being streamed on Crunchyroll as well. With apps that allow you to stream to your smartphone, video game console, and your computer, it makes it very convenient to watch anime while supporting the industry. For this giveaway, I have 2 Three Month Memberships to hand out. How to enter: Simply reply to this post and type a number between 1 and 200. It's that simple. I will be using a random number generator to select our winners in a week. You are limited to just one entry, meaning just select one number. Now, there is a way to get a second entry. How to get a second entry: When you comment with your number, that counts as one entry. However, if you want a second entry, with a little bit of work, you can have it. Tell us your favorite anime/VN/manga/LN and tell us why it is your favorite. It doesn't have to be a long explanation, just a short paragraph will do. After writing it out, include your second number. This is the only way to have more than one entry into the giveaway. You cannot enter more than twice. If you decide to do two entries, your post should look similar to this. 206 Nisemonogatari is my favorite anime because I love brushing my teeth. I also enjoy doughnuts, so I can relate to a certain loli vampire. The humor is top notch and the story is extremely fun and enjoyable. Write a little more than this, I can't continue this charade of Nisemonogatari being my favorite anime anymore. 304 Remember to pick numbers between 1-200. So to sum up, to enter this giveaway, pick a number between 1-200. If you write me about your favorite anime/manga/VN/LN, pick a second number as well to increase your chances of winning. Please do not pick the same number as someone else. If you do, I will PM you asking you to change your number. Should, by some small chance, we have more than 200 number selections, I will increase the range and allow everyone to re-select their numbers. There will be two winners, so no, you cannot win both memberships. The drawing will be held on May 5th around 11pm Eastern Standard Time. If you have any questions, feel free to send me a message. The claimed numbers are: 1, 2, 6, 25, 36 42, 46, 50, 64, 75, 88, 93, 123, 130,143, 150, 176, 180 KnightFire 1 Quote
Tief Blau Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Why not, 93 It's not a TV series, but a movie. 5 Centimeters per second, though lasting less then one hour manages to convey the feelings of a first love, the anguish of a physical separation, and the unstoppable force that is time which may bring people together or split them apart. I can also relate to 秒速五センチメトール personally, because I once hung on to a dream that would never be, that choice changed my life quite a bit. I consider 5 Centimeters Per Second one of the single greatest movies ever made. 143 Quote
Mephisto Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 1 My favorite visual novel is Steins;Gate because it is just awesome. The characters are a lot of fun and easily likable (with a few exceptions I guess, but Kurisu and Okabe are #1), and anything that involves cosmic string theory, divergence, and sending messages to yourself back in time is okay in my book. The visual novel was actually translated really well, since the scientific theories behind the time traveling is actually explained (although comparing a microwave to an atom smasher is a bit of stretch), and the plot is just amazing. The undoing your mistakes part can get a little repetitive, but the ending is holy shit what in the world oh my god i wish i could forget this and then watch it again. 2 Quote
Mikel Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Man, thanks for remembering me that Christmas will come in 8 months, I totally forgot. 88 My favorite VN is Fate/Stay Night. The reason is because I simply love Saber, I like strong women that don't sit around while being protected. It's way cooler to see a girl fighting, especially when she uses a sword, and if she uses a legendary sword that only she can wield it gets even more awesome. Besides Saber, almost all the girls from TYPE-MOON are strong and fight for themselves. Well, I'm talking about FSN, so let's keep going. I guess everyone who has played the VN agrees that the plot in FSN is really awesome, even if someone didn't like it, it's a fact that the plot was something amazing. In my case it's the best I've seen. What else... oh, I also loved the Fate ending, I mean the one you can see after finishing all the routes. I won't say anything to avoid spoilers, but yeah, I love it. 42 (does anyone get the refference?) Quote
atchikotchi Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 25 My favorite anime would definitely be Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora (Waiting for the half-moon) It’s a really happy and sad anime at the same time, which spans over only 6 episodes. That paradox feeling one gets is quite unique to this series. and although it's 6 episodes, the character development and story are very enjoyable and at the end it doesn't leave the viewer with any questions unanswered. i won't spoil it much but it's a bitter-sweet love/drama story and i really recommend it. 6 solidbatman 1 Quote

Never thought I'd see that listed as a favorite anime. The show sort of fell apart around episode 4 if I remember correctly, but it was still very good. Updated the main post with claimed numbers. KnightFire Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 176 I believe that my favorite anime would have to be Clannad: After Story. To me, that anime was a perfect mix of happy, sad, and just overall feels. There are times for everything in that anime. The character development, followed by me screaming at the screen because of certain events happening, stunned me and left me wanting more. It was the perfect view of a life, and though it started out as just a school anime, it branched off in ways you may not have thought and showed events afterwards; the hardships of life. I think everyone should watch this anime, period. 123 Off topic: http://isitchristmas.com/ should help everyone out here. Quote
Snowtsuku Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 150 Symphonic Rain because there is something nostalgic about the rain. Well about the story, so much mind fuck and twist you don't really expect. That's it because I'll be more likely to spoil it. Oh and Ari <3 50 Btw, are you going to generate a number until it matches one or you'll get the closer one after a number generation? Quote
solidbatman Posted April 29, 2013 Author Posted April 29, 2013 Btw, are you going to generate a number until it matches one or you'll get the closer one after a number generation? My plan is to continue generating numbers until I get a match. Then repeat for the second one. Quote

Though this is very unlikely. I haven't found a generator that will allow me to do this, so I may just fire it up into Excel and have it randomly chosen through a spreadsheet. No, as I stated above, you can only win one membership. Once the first winner is selected, he/she is out of the running for the second one. Quote
Snowtsuku Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 I can make one if you want. Where 50 and 150 will only show up. LOL JK Quote
sanahtlig Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 36 My favorite anime is Elfen Lied. Love it or hate it, Elfen Lied is a shining example that shatters the classic stereotype of anime as kids' cartoons or porn. It's a mature, deeply disturbing tragedy that explores the ugliness of human nature. Not satisfied with simple violence, it takes classic moe tropes and uses them as so many knives to pierce the modern viewer's armor of violence desensitization. The stark contrast of cuteness and violence is masterful and a triumph of the anime medium. At 14 episodes, it's fast-paced, grabbing you and never letting you go with each episode typically ending on a cliff hanger. Extremely polarizing, this is a show you'll either love or hate; there's simply no inbetween. You'll either exalt in the way it toys with your emotions, or you'll find it absolutely revolting. Elfen Lied is cute and violent, romantic and tragic, thoughtful and gratuitous. More than any show, game, or anime I've ever seen, Elfen Lied delightedly revels in contrasts. What are the defining elements of anime? If your answer is sex, violence, and cuteness, then Elfen Lied is the anime that defines anime. 64 Quote
Naraku93 Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 46 If I had to choose my favourite anime It would be Code Geass, even though I don't like mecha it managed to entertain me through 50 episodes with it's many twists, the battles were great, and I didn't get bored once, and the ending, which I consider to be very important in an anime, didn't disappoint me. And last but not least, it has been one of the first anime I've ever watched with subs. 75 Quote
Oh2Quick Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 180 My favorite anime has to be FMA: Brotherhood. It is one of those rare animes that was the complete package of having action, adventure, comedy, and a hint of romance. The plot itself was amazing, along with the character development of the elric brothers, I would highly recommend others to indulge themselves to this masterpiece. 130 Quote
