eris Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Picked up Ubik the other day. Really excited to start reading contemporary lit again after a very full schedule of British Victorian women last term -- less dry than I expected but none of it existential sci-fi. I started the Stormlight Archive around the time the second book came out before realizing there are going to be a fuckton of books to wait for. I'm already upset that Rothfuss hasn't put out a new Kingkiller book yet after missing the deadline by like a year, I hate waiting just a little bit more than I like epic fantasy. Quote

Rothfuss put a deadline on the new Kingkiller book and then missed it? I expect literally nothing from that man at this point, and yet he still somehow finds a way to disappoint. Impressive. Quote

I'm sure it came from the publisher, since in every interview that he's asked about a release date he's said there isn't one. Still tho, give us the goods!! I want more lute rock and Shakespearean sex fairies. Quote
Funyarinpa Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 I'm reading A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara. Apparently it's pretty devastating. Doubting whether ai should put it on hold for that reason- exams in 10 days Quote

Akshay Posted May 21, 2018 Posted May 21, 2018 Recently finished some Jeffery Archer (The Sons of Fortune). Really like his writing. Now that the latest Overlord book released (volume 13) Im a go back to light novels. Quote
Fred the Barber Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 I just finished reading Salman Rushdie's Two Years Eight Months and Twenty-Eight Nights, which was about as awesome as nearly everything else I've read by Salman Rushdie, which is to say very. The man has some great stories up his sleeve, and damn does he write them well. Quote
Jun Inoue Posted May 27, 2018 Posted May 27, 2018 (edited) Having followed Matt Colville (and his youtube channel) for quite a while, I finally decided to read his books (having just gained access to Kindle Unlimited), Priest and Thief. They ended up being exactly as I had expected from a D&D DM. The writing's a bit amauterish sometimes, but the worldbuilding is absolutely amazing. All in all, I've really liked them, and can't wait for the third book, Warrior, to come out. Today I've begun reading Free the Darkness (King's Dark Tidings Book 1), as I continue to exploit my free 30 days of Kindle Unlimited. Edited May 27, 2018 by Jun Inoue Quote
