sub-zer0 Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Pretty far into "The Name of the Wind" by Patrick Rothfuss and am enjoying the story so far. I am liking the setup of each book being a day's worth of Kvothe telling his story and I am getting curious to how things are going to lead into what's the present time when the interludes take place. That is such a good book,I finished that and the sequel in like a week or two, and every second hand me hooked, I am very excited about the third and upcoming "Door of Stone" Quote
BookwormOtaku Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 How's "The Slow Regard of Silent Things"? Quote
sub-zer0 Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 How's "The Slow Regard of Silent Things"? I actually have not read that since it wasn't technically part of the main story and I was not intrigued enough to read the side story. Quote
Funyarinpa Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Finished The Dispossessed, was a pretty interesting book with an interesting society. Somewhat underwhelming overall. Quote
BookwormOtaku Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Finished "The Name of the Wind", going to read some MLP comics while waiting for my order of the sequel to arrive Quote
sub-zer0 Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Done with Metro 2033 here, kinda disappointing how metro 2034 was not translated into English, going back the Chronicles of the black company again, about half way done with book one Quote

Weird, seeing how it was translated to Turkish... Quote
sub-zer0 Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 M2034 isn't in English? Weird, seeing how it was translated to Turkish... Wait, I just goggled it and it is apparently translated, but I can't find a english version on google play, since there is so many versions of metro 2034 that idk which one is right, and all the book descriptions are in Russian, so I can't tell which is which. phersu Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 To Aru no Majutsu Index. Hooray for Yenpress. Also just finished Genocidal Organ by Project Itoh. Quote
sub-zer0 Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Putting the Chronicles aside...again, finding it hard to continue because right now I'm at a point where I have no idea what is going on..so confused...and trying to keep the story clear, so I'm putting that aside for now, started reading World War Z, since the movie was so awesome. Great book so far, since the book is like a collection of notes/journals/interviews from across the world and it gives you a more clear picture of what the Apocalypse is like around the globe and how it spread and everything. reyaes Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Has anyone read East of Eden by John Steinbeck? Personal favorite of mine and am trying to get a friend of mine to read it. If you haven't read it, you should. It's fantastic. Quote
B0X0R Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Finished "The Name of the Wind", going to read some MLP comics while waiting for my order of the sequel to arrive Don't get your hopes too high, (talking about The Name of the Wind, the MLP comics are mostly really good). Quote
BookwormOtaku Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Don't get your hopes too high, (talking about The Name of the Wind, the MLP comics are mostly really good). Is the sequel still good or did I just waste 7 bucks? Quote
Rilarion Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 I've been reading some Young Adult books about vampires and werewolves (not romance-focused ones) One series I particularly liked is Department 19 by Will Hill.. it's pretty dark and bloody but also packed with action and some romance.. The final book in the series will come out this summer, I'm quite excited about it to say the least. Quote
BookwormOtaku Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Been reading "The Wise Man's Fear" it's been good, though the story seems to have slowed down to the point that I'm wondering when it's finally going to start moving forward. Quote
sub-zer0 Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 Finished with World War Z, it is so freaking good as it progresses, I really thought it was boring and I was actually planning on dropping it since it was not that interesting of a read, but I held on and as I read further and further ,I was really hooked to the events that are developing. This book is a collection of stories, interviews and stuff from a lot of different people, so you get the global view of what everyone is doing during the zombie apocalypse. I'm starting The Eastsea Series, it is really old and considered classical fantasy, and it feels like the story is really progressing way too fast...maybe as I read more I will get a different view, but the pace right now is so damn fast it is just flying by everything and moving straight ahead Quote
crunchytaco Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 World war zs story telling sounds like Chronicles of the Black Company. I heard a lot of good things about it from the Walking Dead forum. Quote
sub-zer0 Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 World war zs story telling sounds like Chronicles of the Black Company. I heard a lot of good things about it from the Walking Dead forum. Oh no, I'v had to pause the Chronicles because I was literally confused, but World War Z is like a recollection with a series of different short stories and events that tells you kind of what is going on, The Chronicles are a legitimate story with events that progress, it is a fantastic number of books, I was really hooked on it until I got confused..and since the confusion, I'm just reading other books because when I try to go back, I would just get confused again...and that really annoys me.. crunchytaco Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 I hate taking breaks from books only to lose interest in the story and characters before finishing. Quote
sub-zer0 Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 I don't usually take break from books, but I pause anime and vns quite a lot, and I usually move on to some other newer anime or vn, while as for books it is kind of hard to find a good replacement since they are so unique in their own way that they differentiate so much, making it kind of hard to forget the characters( the story can be cliche sometimes though) Quote
Rilarion Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 I don't usually take breaks either but I did it with Alliance! by Mark Frost. I'd read several books on succession. I guess I got burned from overreading Quote
Yeah Way Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 I've just started reading 'Mein Kampf', for purely academic reasons, obviously. EDIT: The Translator's Note ends on this brilliant line I'd like to share with you: "Where Hitler's formulations challenge the reader's credulity, I have quoted the German original in the notes. Seeing is believing." Nice. Quote
Fred the Barber Posted February 21, 2015 Posted February 21, 2015 Currently reading: Firefight I'll read pretty much anything with Brandon Sanderson's name on it, but so far that's never been a losing proposition. Next up: probably Brent Weeks's Lightbringer series. Quote
periah250 Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 i only like visual novels and recently i have grown fond of light novels Quote
