yes, extra is really boring but with a good reason it's there for character development, alternative without extra and unlimited would not be the same, you just need to suck it up and read it all together(including alternative) to really understand why it's there.

Honestly I worked my way through Extra with pain and suffering, but today because I know the entire story of the franchise I actually like Extra, so much that I would be willing to go read it right now. Always appreciate what you have because the alternative may be a lot worse.

but reading alternative without extra and unlimited is like watching a movie from the middle :/ specially unlimited and yes extra can be boring but come on, there are worst thing out there for sure, any nukige or moege vn for example and people "read" them all the time..

I would choose Monmusu Quest! anytime, as it is just so hilarious comparing to utterly boring MuvLuv Extra (this is speaking about "reading" nukige, sometimes there is really something fun to read)... Actually MuvLuv Extra is the typical moego, so I really do not get why you tell this like MuvLuv is something different from moego

Well we have different tastes, I can't stand nukige or rpgs that revolve about raping girls all the time.

Extra can be boring(I'm not saying that alone is a good vn to read) but I can tell you this without extra and unlimited alternative wouldn't have had the same impact it did when I read it, leaving the ending aside I think it was epic without a doubt a 10/10 vn and so far there isn't anything like it (at least not translated), without extra and unlimited I don't know, you need to read it to understand it, it's like night and day, you need to have that contrast to really appreciate the other part of the novel. Want it or not extra and unlimited are part of alternative.

But you actually telling that it alone (you told muvluv extra explicitly) is far better than any nukige or moego, while it is a perfect example of your typical school moego i understand that "you have to read to understand the epicness of mla", but come on, i am trying to do it for years and still unable to finish even stupid sumika route in ml i usually read VNs for 30 min before sleep on my windows tablet, and you know what? I get asleep in 10 minutes max after i try to read muvluv but i am near end of Sumika route, so maybe in some years i will see the light in the end of the tunnel and could be able to read that EPIC 10/10 MLA

Than any nukige? for sure (I hate nukige vns)? This is of course a personal opinion, I don't own the truth, like anything in this medium is all about personal tastes, even when something is really bad it can be considered a masterpiece by someone *caught* nukige vns *caught*

 

Again, this is a bland vn but you can't rate it alone because that's not the point, it comes in a package with alternative. You can't have one without the other, you need to see them like a big vn but like I said before when you go back and have that contrast between the two of them, one being a really slow paced vn with really nothing going on because that's the goal, to show the life of a stupid egocentric kid little brat that doesn't care about anything in his life except himself, doing nothing at all except playing video games and going to school acting like a moron (this is extra) then you have unlimited which is just the introduction of alternative (I won't say anything because of spoilers) and finally you have alternative which is a 180° turn from extra an unlimited in all the possible ways you can imagine, after that you realize that extra and unlimited were in fact good and you kinda want to go back again to that world.

Just felt the need to say that I agree with this. While I still consider Alternative a masterpiece without the previous two, I do consider the three just one big, long vn.
