crunchytaco Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Katawa Shoujo best VN Is it great because it's a fan made VN? I'm not sure how to feeling about the low ratings it's received contradicting with all the praises it gets. I found the two face girl really cute. Granted I haven't spoke with her much, but the few moments I've seen her, she reminds me of Sakaki Yumiko's antsy attitude along with the long black hair. Quote
douggle Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Finished the My Girlfriend is the President fandisc decided to change my mind about Baldr Sky, Gonna start Symphonic Rain. Quote

As far as Visual Novels go Katawa Shoujo is alright for babby's first visual novel, its nothing special beyond that though. Quote
douggle Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 I think I'm going into unknown territory... One day, maybe. Not anytime soon. Too many other titles in muh backlog. Quote
Chronopolis Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 As far as Visual Novels go Katawa Shoujo is alright for babby's first visual novel, its nothing special beyond that though. It does pleasantly escape a few ubiquitous vn tropes such as white knighting, osanajimi. Rin's and Shizune's route are probably pretty uncommon in terms of their flavour and feel. Also, the MC's though process/how he mulls over the concept of disability and how to interact with people in the first chapter is a degree better than the average self-loathing protagonist or simply the protagonist who is afraid of making work/bothering other people. The variety of settings, production values, and execution are only middling though. I would say it's a alright, noticeably better as a first game. Quote
LiquidShu Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 Lily's route in Katawa Shoujo is still one of my favorite routes from the VNs I have played. The VN just holds a special place in my heart because it was my first Quote

nohman Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 I have been putting it off since last summer, but I have finally started on Grisaia. For some reason, I also reread Riho's route in Deardrops this week. Definitely one of my favorite VNs, at least when it comes to characters. Quote
Berilium Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 Just play another VN until you're ready to go again Quote
Nyanko Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 Playing Symphonic Rain, not too sure how I feel about it yet.. its nothing special so far. The mini game is pretty fun though, but also pretty hard sometimes if you ask me ^^; Also planning to install Kimi to Kanojo to kanojo no koi today. I hope I get it to work on my W8.1 laptop (with parser).. since Gekkou no Carnevale did not :c Quote
Tawm Posted July 17, 2014 Posted July 17, 2014 How long would it take for you to get through an Elder Scrolls game? Yeah, and especially compared to a friend I know that skips routes that are important to the story. He skipped most of the routes in Little Busters and went straight into Refrain without the knowledge needed from the others (I'm not sure if he skipped Rin2 or not). He also skipped Unlimited and went from the 2 necessary routes in Extra to Alternative. Poor guy. >.< Well, he still ended up giving Alternative a 10 anyways, so at least it wasn't a huge detriment to his experience. Wish I could say the same for Little Busters, though. ;_; Well, I have 519 hours on Skyrim alone according to Steam. I've never finished it, lol. Got most things done in Morrowind and Oblivion within 300 hours each, though. That's a good example of OCD being a terrible burden right there. I started Alternative earlier today, and I can't really imagine reading it without going through Extra and Unlimited now. Only up to 28/11 so far, but I'm enjoying it more than Unlimited already. Still haven't seen an actual BETA, but the silhouettes from Unlimited alone did instill a sense of despair. Quote
FruitsPunchSamurai Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 My friend just started "if you thought it was a harem heaven, it was a yandere hell' Yup even that title alone is scary. Quote
Kenshin_sama Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Man, I'm really having trouble getting through Makina's route in Grisaia. Anyone have any advice on how to get through long routes in VNs without losing steam and having to take a break for a few days? Do what I did for the Fate route in FSN, read for one hour per day until it starts getting better. You won't burn out too easily and you'll keep a consistent pace with it. I haven't completely finished a single ES game. Unfortunately I won't be able to play Morrowind since I originally had an Xbox to play it (ah, the good ol' days), but I'll be buying the Anthology version eventually so I can get the chance to play it on PC. I didn't own a PC back then, so it'll be a good opportunity to play it on a different platform. That and I miss Morrowind, it's still my favorite in the ES franchise. I'll actually try to complete everything this time too. If the silhouettes were enough for ya, you're in for a ride for Alternative. Try to not go mental while reading it. Quote

Slowpoke Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Hey hey hey, I know a lot of you guys are male, if not all of you guys that are active in here, but I was wondering if you guys played Dramatical Murder? I'm wondering why the scores are so low. I think its because of the Boys Love aspect and guys can get weird about that. lol Quote
Tatsujin Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 MLA. On chapter 5. I'm replaying this. Last I played it was summer of 2013. Quote
Kenshin_sama Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 You waiting for Skywind too? http://tesrenewal.com/skywind-faq Actually, I was not aware of that mod at all. Damn, that's one hell of an ambitious project. o.O I love the ES modding community. <3 Hey hey hey, I know a lot of you guys are male, if not all of you guys that are active in here, but I was wondering if you guys played Dramatical Murder? Very possible that the majority of people that read DRAMAtical Murder were males reading it for the Nitro+ tag and giving it lower scores for the yaoi. That said, an 8.31 is actually really good. Were you hoping for it to make the top 10 on VNDB or something? Quote
BookwormOtaku Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Completed Irina's route in Osadai...why was this route so popular? Quote

I've been looking at too many VNs lately. Ugh Quote
Kenshin_sama Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Oh, right, almost forgot about EGS. I usually don't agree with their ratings. And it's okay, it happens. Quote

Maybe it's just because of them being so vocal, but I think you would have a hard time finding a girl in the community that doesn't like yaoi. Reading eroge is where it gets problematic though, yeah; especially since people that don't even know English aren't that uncommon here. Quote
