Decay Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 It doesn't really matter when Asuho's route is done, but yeah it feels like Komomo's and Kosame's routes are meant to be done back to back, and so are Isuzu's and Chinami's. Quote
Ezeefreak Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 I'm doing Akane's route now(pro tip:Rewrite) before being able to do moon and terra, I'm having pretty low expectations about it since everyone said that it was a pretty shit route. Quote
Decay Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Akane's route is fine. I liked it better than Shizuru's and Chihaya's. It's... very different, that's for sure. Quote
Vokoca Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Thought I would finish DanganRonpa 2 before sleep - and it's already past 9 in the morning! The whole VN (game?) is a huge improvement over the first for sure, maybe with the exception of the annoying minigames. The mysteries were more complicated and entertaining, and the plot as a whole - especially in the last two chapters - was much better than the predecessor. Not sure how to feel about being able to guess the entire twist right from the first scene, but it definitely got me stumped in some different places. Especially that minigame in chapter 4 made me feel like a complete idiot. 9/10 from me Stray Cat and Funyarinpa 2 Quote
Darkshine Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Yah I finally finished Katawa Shoujo. It was a good VN in it's own right and the only thing to do now is look for a new VN to indulge myself in. This one was a little slow paced so I figure my next VN should have more oomph to it. Quote
theboxcarracer Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 I finished up Sharin no Kuni, aside from one of the epilogues, which I'm running the game in the background occasionally checking back to click choices in order to see. After this one, I'm not sure what's next. Maybe I'll hold off on VNs for a minute and finally get around to finishing my copy of Persona 3 FES. Not sure yet. Quote

Funyarinpa Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Agreed. I didn't dis-like the first one as much as other people but this was definitely a nice leap forward in many areas. I honestly think the first twist was just done so you would feel confident and not pay attention to all the other twists they through at you at the end. I'd probably give it an 11/10 but that's because this is exactly the kind of thing I love. Quote
Stray Cat Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Just checking- you have completed 999 and VLR, right? If I hadn't been spoiled MANY twists about DR2 by now, I probably would've been able to give it an 11/10 also, given the nature and awesomeness of the twists I spoiled for myself. Quote

Mr Poltroon Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Yeah, you probably couldn't even call that foreshadowing, it was so blatant it had to be intentional. I suppose they might've also used it to grab the reader's interest, which it definitely succeeded at. I love VNs that do more than just tell a story - be it de-constructing their own genre, shifting it, or breaking the fourth wall in any other way - sometimes it only takes a very good concept like that to win me over completely. Too bad stuff like that is pretty hard to come by, as knowing it's uniqueness alone might end up being a huge spoiler. Quote
Vokoca Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 What was the twist you guys are talking about? Quote
Mr Poltroon Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 DR2 spoilers: The whole "It's all VR!" thing. I thought it was made glaringly obvious right with that first 'door' scene, not to mention all the absurd things piling up from there on out. That must've been intentional, right? Quote

Vokoca Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Still Ultimate huge DR2 spoilers everywhere. Perhaps I'm simply a blockhead, then? I thought it came out of nowhere when I first saw it and was ridiculously surprised. But it seems most people noticed it right away. Quote
Decay Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 One of my biggest complaints about Dangan Ronpa 1 is that the protagonist, who is supposed to be the one solving the mysteries and all that, was actually just kind of an idiot who had everything solved for him by others. Either everyone else had to heavily hint at the solutions before he got them, or they just straight up solved the mysteries for him. Does the sequel improve on that aspect? Quote

madvanced Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Akane's credits are rolling and I liked the route more than I though I would, since I had low expectations. I actually liked the change brought about inside of Kotarou, the way he became a little more realist and even able to go as far as killing to fulfill is desire. I already liked Akane from the common and I like that I was able to see her ups and downs, this is actually my second favorite route after Lucia's. Quote
starkweather Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 fate stay night. really impressed so far. its definintly lived up to to the hype, the h scenes are also as bad as people make them out to be. holy shit i thought they would suck but this was 70s pizza delivery guy porn level writing. Funyarinpa Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Firstly, I'll give my opinion. I think that was kind of the point. The protagonist wasn't supposed to be smart or some kind of detective, he was just a normal kid with abnormal amounts of hope and trust. Secondarily, I'll answer your question, as far as I am concerned. There are, once again, two characters who solve all the stuff for you, pretty much. They leave the easier mysteries out and only get involved when it gets important, but they're still there. Quote

starkweather Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Well at the initial stages there weren't any H-scenes planned, they were put later to meet some interest, by some players, in that kind of stuff. Quote
madvanced Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 that makes sense but still seems like they could have atleast tried to make them a little less cringe worthy haha. Quote
