Kurisu-Chan Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 Ok, i have finished Little busters, the true ending was interesting, and i'm going to start Comyu. Quote
sirjabberwock Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 The 8-bits is more of a retro joke than a real story I wasn't sure if it was a joke or not, just that it doesn't seem to get very favorable reviews. There's also a light novel coming out in February(?) that's going to be the canonical sequel to S;G, but the character designs aren't nearly up-to-par with Huke's original character designs :\ Â You should try to play it on a calculator. I've heard it enhances the experience quite a lot if you play it during otherwise important moments. Finally I have a good reason for having bought a TI-89 graphing calculator! Quote

Funyarinpa Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 You should try to play it on a calculator. I've heard it enhances the experience quite a lot if you play it during otherwise important moments. Â I can testify to this. Â (warning: big-ass, low quality picture) Â Quote
sirjabberwock Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 Trust me, it's a 1 hour lengh non-canon 8bits tribute to the era of 8bits games. It's only an hour long?! Crap I don't remember seeing that on vndb whenever it was I looked it up. Wow, I had figured it was a lot longer I can testify to this. (warning: big-ass, low quality picture) I figured Tiago was kidding when he said that. That's hilarious Quote
Mr Poltroon Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 I figured Tiago was kidding when he said that. That's hilarious I never lie. Quote
Funyarinpa Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 I never lie. Â No, you just bend the power of sarcasm to your will. Quote
sirjabberwock Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 No, you just bend the power of sarcasm to your will. He hides the truth through a veil of sarcasm, any decent human being would be able to differentiate between that and lying on an internet forum apparently Quote
Vargas Posted October 20, 2014 Posted October 20, 2014 Atm I am currently playing Noble Works vn :0 Quote
Kosakyun Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Goddamnit I wasted time on leveling Merim. Ugh. Â The game is still Rance IV. Quote
GetterEmperor Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 I'm currently playing Comyu and also playing a bit of Rance 9. Quote
Kosakyun Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 I'm currently playing Comyu and also playing a bit of Rance 9. Â You can read Rance IX or rather, read Japanese? Quote
GetterEmperor Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 You can read Rance IX or rather, read Japanese? No, I can't read Japanese, but I tend to ask Meph any questions when I have them. I'm just playing the game to get the feel of it really. Quote
Kosakyun Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 No I can't read Japanese but I tend to ask Meph any questions when I have them. I'm just playing the game to get the feel of it really. Â Oh. I don't really play unless I can understand it. I might see the CGs or something. But I'll download it. Quote
BookwormOtaku Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Playing more DDC, Misora's route has taken a turn for the better now that it's introduced who I assume are the route's villains. Also Azumi is as hilarious as ever. Quote
Decay Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Still reading Higurashi. I think I'm a bit over halfway done with episode 6. Rena just shared her parasyte theory with Keiichi. Â Overall, I have to say that I'm liking this less than Umineko. I kind of wish I had played this first, as I might have enjoyed it a bit more by not knowing what I was missing out on, but I think I enjoyed going into Umineko with no expectations. Probably the biggest thing I dislike about Higurashi is the lack of an overarching plot thread. The start of every chapter is a clean slate. All of the characters are reset and the story begins anew each time. Of course, this can still change in the next couple chapters, but the fact that it's gone this far without that is a pretty big minus in my book. This strongly correlates with my personal tastes, for TV shows I prefer serial stories to episodic ones. I don't like that there is no real lasting character development so far, and while the game presents the story in such a way that you slowly learn more about what's really happening as you progress through the episodes, it doesn't really do it in a satisfying way. Even if this does change (and there are hints that it might) it may be too little too late. I think Umineko took the basic structure created with Higurashi (witnessing a tragedy repeat several times with different victims and perpetrators) and added some much needed components to it like an actual connective plot with strong character development among the main characters across all of the episodes, right from the start. Â I'm kind of surprised Higurashi Kai has an 8.73 average VNDB rating, maybe I should expect an improvement coming up. Â edit: There's another thing, when I compare the two stories so far. Umineko's mystery is much more "pure". It's funny, playing Higurashi second kind of gives you a lot of "oh, so THAT'S what he meant!" moments when reflecting on all of the meta-commentary Umineko provided on the mystery genre. Seems like Ryukishi was pretty critical of Higurashi within Umineko. I'll also say that although I'm being critical of Higurashi here, I'm still enjoying it a decent amount. Quote

Rather than chapters, they should've been called scenarios. They are, in a way, unrelated to each other. But all the loose ends become tied together as you advance through the chapters in Kai. Chapter 6 is going to play a big part in whatever happens in Chapter 7. Â As for Chapter 8... That's for you to find out. Quote

I haven't played it yet. I really want to download the PS3 patch first. I don't think I'll enjoy it that much if I play with the game itself only. I have the PS3 patch for the Answer Arcs, but none for the Question Arcs. I'll tell you if I start playing it. Â I loved the OPs though. It got me really hyped for the game. Quote
grim_tales1 Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Playing more Killer Queen, it feels like the end, but probably isnt: Edit: Whoa! Quite a cute twist with the dream of your gf - maybe you're trapped in a time loop trying to save everyone in the game because you feel guilty for not saving your gf? Quote
Amagami Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Majo Koi Nikki is good? I think I'll give a try. Quote
Scars Unseen Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 I finished Steins;Gate true ending(finally). Â Turns out that the first time I played, I ran into a glitch where one of the true ending flag emails(and thus all subsequent ones) failed to show up. Â I ran into the same glitch again, but I knew about it in advance, so I just had to reload a save from earlier in the chapter. Â Â Next up, Fate Stay/Night. Â I want to watch the Ufotable adaptations, but I refuse to watch any adaptation of a VN I haven't played. Â Unless, of course, it hasn't been translated and likely never will be(like Kimi ga Nozomu Eien). Â Just finished the prologue. Quote

FinalChaos Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Finally I started Majikoi. I have pretty high expectations of it and the start is decent. I haven't got past the introductions so don't precisely know which way will it go. It seems similar to Little Busters till now. Quote
