Deep Blue Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 I am finally finished with Sumika's route in Muv Luv Extra... people said it was 8-10 hours...this took me over a week and a half to get through...and I actually enjoyed it some, but this proves that I am not the type to be bored enough to read romance,I was struggling so hard to get through it since romance is just not my type of thing, I mostly read action-packed stuff,so romance VN are just a painful process for me...but I'm so happy because that means after I get through Meiya's route, I can finally watch giant mechs with guns kick alien ass( so pumped for it) Quote
Decay Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Ayamine is boring and all Extra routes other than Meiya and Sumika are totally skippable. Similarly, all endings in Unlimited are basically the same and feel free to skip all but your chosen heroine's (it doesn't even matter). Quote
Deep Blue Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Ayamine is boring like most of the routes in extra (well they are if you are not into romance) but many things will be more enjoyable in alternative if you played their routes in extra, in unlimited they are all the same except for the endings which are like mass effect 3 endings (the color endings) Quote
BookwormOtaku Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Gotten to chapter 3 of No Thank You!!! in Hiroyuki's route. Interesting so far, curious as to what the next case the group will be facing in this one. Quote

sub-zer0 Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 Im Finally done with Muv-Luv Extra!! I l cannot contain my excitement for unlimited, but I'm gonna read Ayamine's route because I looked on the wiki and she has a friend that is a doctor and since I haven't seen him, he might be of some importance...Doctor...might invent something in unlimited...gonna go check it out...I'm expecting Yuuko's theory to be mentioned and also Takahashi's theory, they seem to know quite a lot so I won't be surprised if both of their theories are applied in the unlimited world...Meiya's route only took like 1-2 hours with text skip on, but IDK about Ayamine, people said it is 4-6 hours, but since it ends on an earlier date...shouldn't it be shorter than that...whatever,gonna go read it and get it over with... That doctor is a really big and important character in alternative (im talking about extra) unlimited is the same for all the characters, there are just some little tiny things here and there but overall is just linear with "different" endings, which are the same but you get a little different dialog depending which girl you picked early. That feels like a bit of an exaggeration. He is important yeah but not really that big. His only real impact is in that one arc. Quote
bluethunder91 Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 I'm fairly new to VN's so I'm trying to catch up on the essentials. Currently playing Da Capo II. Welcome! I see from your profile pic that you have good taste in best girls! If essentials are what you're searching for, you should play Clannad or Little Busters! They're both really good. Quote

I've played Little Busters! already, it was quite good, though I thought the true end was just a touch too convienient. Clannad has been on my radar, I'll add it to my list of VN's to pick up. Thanks for the suggestion Quote

ExtraMana Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 Don't forget steins;gate. Do you have to seen the anime in order to play the visual novel is the anime good? Quote
Decay Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 The anime is excellent, but it's a straight adaptation of the visual novel, so you don't have to watch it. You should choose one or the other and watch/read that, and maybe go to the other if you become a big fan. Quote
XReaper Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 still hooked on "izuna zanshinken", nice game so far, interesting & weird characters, especially the protag Quote
Deep Blue Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 Playing cho dengeki stryker, looks really promising so far. Do you have to seen the anime in order to play the visual novel is the anime good? You don't and the anime will never be as good as the vn, this particual anime was average at best(it did follow quite good the vn so i give it that) but the visual novel is amazing, way better in fact. More character development, more things are explained like the should and you have multi path in the anime you will only see the "true end" or the kurisu one. Btw the last episode in the anime was just nonsense. I finished MLA. Who is he? Sergeant Walker? nope, Kyouzuka Shizue xD j/k Sagiri Naoya the one behind coup d'etat.Sergeant Walker was such a badass character! Quote
Fred the Barber Posted March 6, 2015 Posted March 6, 2015 You don't and the anime will never be as good as the vn, this particual anime was average at best(it did follow quite good the vn so i give it that) but the visual novel is amazing, way better in fact. While I agree with you that there's certainly no need to watch the anime before playing the VN, I completely disagree with the assessment of the anime as "average at best". It's a 10/10, for me, of which I really have very few compared to the number of anime I've watched. I haven't played the VN yet. Perhaps you played the VN first and watched the anime second? If so, it's almost certainly going to make the experience of the anime worse for you (similar to how I expect my enjoyment of the VN is going to be limited by having already seen the anime). Steins;Gate the anime is really slow for the first half, but once things start happening, it's easily one of the two most compelling shows I've ever watched (maybe edged out by Madoka; maybe). Vague effort at staying on topic: playing Hanako's route in Katawa Shoujo (the last one left). It's looking like it may become my new favorite Katawa Shoujo route, though I frankly am looking forward to being done with this VN at this point and moving onto something new... Quote

Maybe i expressed myself wrong, it's average if you compare it with the vn, as an anime yeah it's really good but then again it's based on the vn so it's hard to not do it, and yeah i played the vn first. I can say for sure that it really follows the novel more than any other anime based on a vn, like for example clannad that it was just a pain to watch..., ef or even grisaia (which wanst that bad) Quote
