XReaper Posted March 20, 2016 Posted March 20, 2016 maitetsu demo - feels like my very soul is beeing sucked out & greedily devoured by cuteness loving entities edit: even the MASSSSSIIIIVE amount of infodumping, regarding anything lokomotiva-like, is very much bearable, due to reina having such a sweet voice, upon trying to enlighten one with lots & lots & lots of cold facts SaintOfVoid 1 Quote

The first chapter is the only love triangle. This isn't the last you'll see of the losing heroine, though. Quote

Dreamysyu Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 Finally came to Ever17. Finished Sora's and You's routes, now on Tsugumi's. Well, there are quite a lot of things I don't really like about this VN so far. On the other hand, that grand mystery is really the thing that makes me continue. I have several guesses about what is going on so far. I hope I don't completely spoil myself before the end. Quote

Dreamysyu Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 Just now, Funyarinpa said: Opinion on Sora's route? Well, I definitely like Sora as a character. Moreover, she is probably the only likable character in the cast so far (the reason I played her route first). Well, I liked the romantic buildup between her and the MC. On the other hand, the major plot of her route didn't really make me interested that much. Well, I feel like the route overall is good, but I personally wouldn't call it the best thing ever. And there is really high possibility that I change my opinion about this route after some time. It happens to me all the time. Sorry for slow response. It's almost 2 AM here. Quote
MrBanballow Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Had ordered a couple of games off J-List last month alongside Princess Evangile, so tonight I popped one of those into my PS4. Just got finished with Chapter 1 ( ? ) of "Tea Society of a Witch". Enjoyed the first bit, and the game was basically free, so I can't complain. Quote
DarkZedge Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Currently engrosed and absorbed by Danganronpa but i plan on playing IMHHW after that and Lucy. though my current backlog is huge! Quote

Mr Poltroon Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Currently playing Kindred Spirits on the Roof. I really like how the "protagonist" Yuna feels really cool, even without trying. How would I explain it...? Whereas other cool characters usually feel like they are pretending or forcing it, she doesn't because she is neither pretending nor forcing it most of the time - she panics and acts embarrassed as much as the next girl, but she still manages to be cool the rest of the time. All of her CG's look cool and that helps immensely. Another thing I like about her is how she fills the usual holes that characters leave in conversation. Let's imagine a normal conversation where a character says something that doesn't make complete sense and makes me think to myself about how it doesn't make sense. Yuna, however, always seems to point out what I'm thinking when she thinks to herself. Maybe a character makes an argument with a hole for the sake of persuasion - Yuna doesn't let it slide. Turnip Sensei Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 I finished Hikari no Valusia last night, but I was too tired to write anything cohesive. It was my second completed VN in japanese and my 5th Steampunk-game. The "One thousand and One Nights"-esque setting was really interesting. The desert city Valusia, it's ancient customs and history. There's even a songstress/storyteller fitting for the the theme, which is utilized very well in the "minigame". (it's just choices like in Gahkhtun) This time the episodic structure is wilder than ever since there's not even a clear main character. Instead the perspective jumps between multiple characters, offering insight to the events through very differing viewpoints and time frames. There's the young boy and the girl, warrior siblings, foreign Scholar and his assistant, King of Bandits, assassin, a dancer of a harem, governor of Valusia and supervisor of Erudite Scholar Association. Each of them gets their own chapter, some more insignificant than others, but all contributing their own small, yet important part to the story. It might feel little frustrating on the middle, but come final moments of the VN all the parallel stories and perspectives are tied together to a satisfying ending. Overall I really enjoyed Valusia. The stories Sakurai crafts are always really intriguing both in terms of the actual events and what goes inside the characters itself. And finishing a Sakurai's story feels always so good. Even if it's only for a moment, Sakurai manages to bring out something really beautiful out of the characters, thus out of humans and making world feel like a slightly better place. Next up, Souten no Celanaria, last Steampunk-game I've yet to read and at the same time the first Steampunk-game released. And I guess there's the Full-voice Fan-disk and Gahkthun Fan-disk too. I also want to read Sharnoth again since I can hardly remember anything worthwhile of it. More so now that I feel like I've finally started to grasp the underlying shadows of Steampunk-world, and I definitely missed most of that in Sharnoth. It wouldn't be a bad idea either to read Inganock again in Japanese and see what I missed... Fred the Barber 1 Quote
FinalChaos Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Finished Rinne's route in Euphoria. Well this route opened up a lot of possibilities as to what the organization is actually like, now for the big revelation. Onto to the true route now. Quote
Vorathiel Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Well, Rinne route was written by different writer and while it was really good, it doesn't really 'fit' into euphoria. Quote
LoganW Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 Playing Princess Evangile. I'm impressed so far... We'll see how long that lasts Quote

It doesn't fit in plot wise or character wise ? Rika was definitely way different in that route than the others, while we barely knew anything about Rinne in the other routes. Some people mentioned that Nemu's and Rinne's routes held the most significance plot wise, so I'd assume that most stuff is hinting towards true route and relevant. Now I'm halfway through Kanae's common route and ......... Kanae Best Grill Quote
Vorathiel Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 I would say mostly 'atmospheric wise'. It gives totally different vibe than other routes. And also - plot wise. It gives some significant points for true route, but majority of Rinnes route isn't mention in true route at all, which is shame, cause it was awesome. And do yourself a favor and do a bad/evil ending first, leaving true/good ending for finale. Quote

Desert35 Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 After a long long break I plan on returning to the VN world with Noble Works because I liked the design when I bought it and because it's not a Vn where you have to think a lot to understand the plot and the relationship between the characters!! Mr Poltroon Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 Still playing Kindred Spirits on the Roof. One of the light criticisms some people have of it seems to be how many of the scenes are essentially repeats from a different point of view. Having read a few, 5 or thereabout, I can say with confidence that I really loved these repeated scenes. Every bloody character seems to be interesting, and reading their thoughts only makes it better. Of course, this is merely a first impression. Who knows how many there actually are in total, and who knows if I won't get sick of it? Eclipsed 1 Quote
