madvanced Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Honestly, I thought the necessity of sex in F/sn was just as bad as the writing of the h-scenes themselves. I mean, if you're going to include Sex Under the Necessity, at least flesh out the reason instead of hoping people don't poke holes in your weird justification. Quote

madvanced Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Buuuut a sexual act isn't needed to seal the contract, or even initiate the summoning, only to give the magus/summoned entity (or whatever else Nasu says that works on) magical energy. That said, they start out with energy the moment they're summoned, which left me wondering how they got the energy in the first place if the only way to replenish it is through achieving orgasm at the same time as their partner. I'm not saying that there isn't precedent, just that Nasu tried to use the precedent in a way that doesn't make a lot of sense. Quote
Stray Cat Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Firstly, I'll give my opinion. I think that was kind of the point. The protagonist wasn't supposed to be smart or some kind of detective, he was just a normal kid with abnormal amounts of hope and trust. Secondarily, I'll answer your question, as far as I am concerned. There are, once again, two characters who solve all the stuff for you, pretty much. They leave the easier mysteries out and only get involved when it gets important, but they're still there. Vokoca and Funyarinpa 2 Quote
madvanced Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 First of all: It's been over a year since I've read it, and I'm not famous for having an excellent memory :/ Second of all: I remember that the "sexual contracts" were different for magi and summoned entities, but the premise is the same. Giving magical energy from one magus to another or a magical entity, according to F/sn, requires both parties to orgasm at the same time. Are there more differences? I really can't remember any more. I'm sure I read that there was literally no other way to transfer magical energy, though. Quote
Decay Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 I don't remember the contract aspect of things being played up, but Rin's explanation was literally "Magus' sperm contains magical energy that familiars can absorb." She also made it sound like female magi cannot do the same thing but I may be misremembering that. There are definitely other ways to transfer magical energy, as well. Quote
madvanced Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Huh...I remember it being said that in order for Saber to stay in the real world, or the present, that the only option was for Shirou to reach orgasm while having sex with her. Like I said, my memory's a little fuzzy, but I can't remember there being another way, at least one that was possible in their situation, anyway. Oh, this is probably pretty obvious, but I haven't played anything from the Nasu-verse besides F/sn, so that's where I got my info from. Dunno if that's important or not. Quote
Decay Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 (F/SN spoilers) The problem was that Shirou wasn't actually passively supplying Saber with any energy due to the nature of her existence in their world or whatever reason they gave. She only had her own reserves to work off of. Shirou was highly inexperienced, uneducated, and unskilled in the ways of magic, so he only had one real route. That being unloading his hot juicy magical magus semen into her. Quote
Totodile Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 when i realized i missed 2 pages worth of posting On the other hand i would really like to know which game we are critiquing this time Quote
Tatsujin Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 ah geez my right hand is killing me ... too much D3 today. okay back to Hoshizora ... I'm taking forever to finish one route ... lol. edit - FINALLY DONE WITH ASUHO OMG WOOHOOO F YAA!! -yells out running naked under the night sky- UUUNIIIVERRSSEEE!! Oookay so I played new game, I don't see an option to "skip read text" and menus are all still in Japanese. Oh hmmmmmmmmmm ... this is not good.\ is .. is that Yume? ... Something finally changed? No ... no way! Edit - I did a lot of edits, so how am I suppose to know that I already read the text? This is frustrating man lol ... I dont' want to re-read something I already read. Quote
FinalChaos Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 About the F/SN magic transfer, The servants are supposed to be receiving a continuous supply of magically supply from their masters, but Shirou being an amateur and hardly having any magic power wasnt supplying saber with his magical energy. Due to this Saber was restricted and couldn't fight as much and had to spend most of the time resting. Since they had reached a dire situation with Berseker, Rin suggested that as an alternate way Shirou could give magical energy to Saber by having sex. I think Rin did say that she couldnt do the same and that the magical energy was there in a mage's sperm. Still the H-scene did feel pretty forced. Quote
Tatsujin Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 What does "Evaluate (Un)read text in Ctrl-Skip" mean? Quote
Tatsujin Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 well lol this is fucking retarded, the system itself is broke from inside since it skipped the unread text and the read text, so I have no freaking clue where I'm suppose to pick up the new lines at all with Komomo's lines ... man this totally fucking ruined my night. -shrugs- Quote

FinalChaos Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Because Shirou was a magic noob, his punishment was to bang Saber. Poor guy. Quote
Roach Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Here ya go. The patch provided by Fuwa doesn't translate the menus, but someone that got one that did was kind enough to provide screenshots. Quote
havoc Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Huh, wasn't aware of that at all. Thanks for telling me about it. Okay, that makes a lot more sense, even if it's still a crap reason for an h-scene. Me and my stupid memory :/ Quote
havoc Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 Not gonna argue about that. Magic-infused semen xD I mean really, what the fuck. yeah it felt odd as if someone else wrote that one, well that is actually not that far fetched. Considerering the last vn from type moon was all ages. Quote
FinalChaos Posted September 10, 2014 Posted September 10, 2014 it is a crap reason for a h-scene, it was only there for the sake of being there after all. (because sex sells) Not gonna argue about that. Magic-infused semen xD I mean really, what the fuck. True a fully crap reason. Still why did they have to put the h-scene in the middle of an interesting battle. Quote

Totodile Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 "But I can bust you out with my super sperm!" That line from Rapper's Delight by The Sugarhill Gang never fit something so well. i'm suddenly reminded of that retarded anime where the guy uses breast milk to power up ......... Quote

Hoshizora no Memoria 5. Katahane 6. Rewrite 7. Swan Song 8. Umineko no Naku Koro The almighty dice states the game of choice is Swan Song. That's my vote. If you also want my opinion, I can say that it's certainly an interesting game with a lot of elements. It's post-apocalyptic, and dare I say it, those don't tend to end too happily. Quote
