Picked up TIME TRAVELERS since it was free on PS+. Haven't played much of it yet, but as for the first impressions... this thing is amazing! I was a bit iffy at the idea of a 3D VN at first, but the constant cutscenes really do TIME TRAVELERS a great service. The voice acting is top notch too, and that music! The main theme is amazing... is this what happens when you give someone a too big budget for a VN?

 

The most impressive thing so far, though, is the VN's structure. I've really liked VLR's integrated flowchart - and this is like VLR on steroids. So you thought being able to jump along a flowchart was cool? Well, how about mixing multiple character-perspectives into that flowchart? And better yet, how about making decisions you make as one character affect the fate of the others? Amazing! I'm afraid they will take the cheap way out and keep it really linear either way, but who knows.

 

Playing Akagoei. 2 routes in (Tsukis and Taes) and man, I had heard legends about Kinugasa's inability to end things, but he SERIOUSLY cannot end anything.

At least you can tell yourself it is not as bad as Reminiscence's unsatisfying endings.

 

But yeah, the endings are really sudden. I actually liked how Tsuki's route ended, since it seemed like a good place to cut it before it devolved into a boring epilogue, but it definitely is not a great thing either. The good news is that the AkaGoei 1 heroines at least have fan-disc epilogues. Something the ones in AkaGoei 2 don't have. :x

I uh, can't agree. Tsuki's route ended basically just.. as everything started! I was so dumbfounded that I just had to get up and walk away for a few minutes as the credits rolled. They could have expanded that so much, but instead EVERYTHING is tossed into maybe an hour of reading and then ended. It's.. absurd beyond absurd. Tae's isn't nearly as bad, but still. I find it hard to even be upset, it's more like.. awe.

Haha, yeah, I can understand that feeling. I just didn't really mind it for some reason. I guess you could kind of solve this by reading the fandisc routes right after the 'endings'? Works quite well with the Trinity version.

Working on Chinami's route in Hoshizora no Memoria right now. After that is the secret heroine and Mare. Killer Queen seems to be getting good reception so I might read that after.

She is the one I have been looking forward to the most, second would be Chinami. Isuzu's route was also better than I expected. So far though all of the routes are enjoyable.

Isuzu's route wastes a little too much time on the first part and rushes it's second act too fast.

But the planetarium scene is still just great, I won't ever forget that.

Harukoi Otome tricked me.

 

My "white-haired-senpai-in-a-hospital-bed"-fetish was used to lure me into a (admittedly fine) story, that took waaay to looong to end. One of the many rules in storytelling; Don't waste my time. Keep it going and move on.

 

I really don't need two hours to talk circles around the same problem. I almost gave up,

I played the trial for No Thank You! It's pretty good and pretty funny. The main character comments on a bara's 'tiddies', he calls them all adorable minus one, is an airhead to the point of not bothering to remember anyone's names and seems to think everything's interesting. I liked him, actually. Made the h-scenes funny, too. The guys are p. moe. I suggest trying it out if you're a fan of BL games. I was gonna buy it anyway, so the demo really just got me impatient, but I couldn't resist...

Not unless you like BL. The game is sex-scene heavy, I heard (the trial is the first day of the game + an h-scene for each guy). There are even options if you want the MC to cum in the guy's mouths or outside and inside or outside, as well as the amount of hair each guy has... Yeah... It's just a demo, though, so 1. none of those choices really apply and 2. you could probably just try the demo first day part + one of the sex scenes and see how you feel.

Amazing Shuugen things happen. Well, that's a little bit of an obvious fact, considering Shuugen is always great, but it must be said. I'll wait until you finished Touko's route for maximum fangirling (and I might go back and read her other two endings maybe...). But that scene from Tonya's route was definitely the cutest Shuugen scene. Well, that and dat blush (my affection for Shuugen actually started from teasing him and joking about how much he needed a route and then it somehow became real oops)

Slowly making it through the cursed visual novel RuiTomo. On Koyori's route now, and... augh, this is hard to read. ;_; I hate this kind of stuff, it literally makes me nervous as well. I enjoy reading utsuge and such, but this very specific kind of drama really gets to me - if there is a VN specialising on specifically being as uncomfortable and awkward as possible, I probably wouldn't make it through alive.
