What are you playing?

Space Pirate Sara. As i thought, Futanaris are the best. Overall it's pretty decent, Black Lilith nukiges are always enjoyable depending on your fetishes. Later on i'll keep on going through Cannonball or actually get back to finishing Little Busters.

It was intense, but also a little over the top and ridiculous. Once I played it, I could immediately see why it was cut. It felt out of place, somehow.

I see why you would feel that it was out of place. It was just sort of dropped on you out of no where then outside of that divergence was never mentioned again.

I'm guessing she wasn't the future version of herself the entire time due to her shock when she accidentally pushed Mayuri into the train tracks

I think that her becoming a rounder was pretty tragic coincidence. Odds are she was probably recruited by someone who had the same job has her dad and SERN probably knew that she could be easily manipulated because of the death of her father at such a young age. I think the main problem with this plot event was that it was only there for like 15 minutes then forgotten. I sort of like that it was dropped out of no where because of my love for shocking plot devices but they failed to develop it any further then that.

Muv-Luv Extra wasn't THAT bad, and if you re-read it AFTER finishing Alternative you can clearly see all the foreshadowing that is thrown throughout the story and I am one of those who did read all routes.

Subjective. I personally despised nearly every second of it (the Mayumi ending is like the only good part in Extra IMO, others are tolerable at best)

It isn't Dark Souls. It's Aliens: Colonial Marines. (We're talking about Muv Luv Extra, right?)

It's brain-annhilatingly boring and stupid, almost impressively so. You need the luck to get through the two required routes (Sumika and Meiya's) without boring yourself to death. To think some people have played all routes... *shudder*

I thought it was better than my first impression on a lot of moege and it was pretty average in SoL. When only Muv-Luv Extra was there, people liked it for its SoL I believe. It's just that I am (and seeing your vndb I expect you are too) just not into that genre in general. And we both would never have touched it without knowing it's sequels having such interesting twists. But remember some people do like those kind stories for what they are.

I didn't enjoy the first playthrough but I definitely do agree that reading it after finishing Muv-Luv Alternative makes it actually pretty interesting to read.

Finished Grisaia No Kajitsu

Final thoughts:

Good:

- Atypical main character

- Lengthy and emotional flashback sequences

- Great chemistry between the heroines

- The blossoming romances between Yuuji and the individual heroines as well as their good endings are quite fullfilling

- SoL comedy bits are entertaining to watch

- Michiru

Bad:

- Bad H-scenes

- Yuuji's personality is all over the place, he's also often downright rude to people (especially during the first part of Michiru's route)

- Sachi's and Amane's bad endings are random (as in: not a real result of any conflict in the route) and feel forced

- Most of the VN is nothing more than SoL comedy which isn't for everyone

- Bad pacing with overly long routes as a consequence

First half of amane's route was pretty porn heavy, but I found it absolutely hilarious, probably the funniest portion of the game. I was definitely amused. I'm a sucker for good sex humor, though, which most VNs actually shy away from in favor of typical japanese ecchi humor.

Posted

Fair enough, I just thought the H-scenes were generally in bad taste but that's just me

I didn't really enjoy them

I guess it's something I need to get used to? A lot of VN's seem to have these porn-esque H-scenes and if I keep skipping them I seem to miss a significant part of the game...

I also want to add that I think one of the main reasons I like the humor in Grisaia so much is that it lacks the standard cliches. It's actually very witty and has some pretty original humor. One of the very first scenes presents one of the standard ecchi scenarios (walking in on Amane changing) and immediately subverts it and goes in a totally different direction than what you expect, signalling what they're doing for the entire rest of the VN. This continued throughout the sex-heavy route and gave me a very entertaining experience. I did skip most of the h-scenes, though, so even if they were bad I guess I wouldn't know. I honestly can't wait to reread it, which i'll probably do once the official version is released. It's probably the only previously-read VN I'm really itching to read again.

Finished Nagisa's route in Ushinawareta Mirai wo Motomete, along with the good extra ending. What can I say at this point, the VN continues being dumb. Some characters don't feel very consistent across routes, and the general plot just makes absolutely no sense so far other than being amazingly convenient. Well, only Yui's route left, I think... which is hopefully the true route too. I have to say, boring me by time-loop stories is quite an accomplishment, I thought I could read this kind of stuff forever.

I've been going strong! I think I am almost done with Ageha's route in IMHHW. Her route is so good so far... The h scenes in this game are phenomenal imo. After her route is Asa, Amane, and Yoru in that order.

Haha, I feel like I've read a different VN entirely.

EDIT:

Except for Mr.Brauns daughter becoming a psycho bitch and time leaping 15 years. I wish that was in the anime, that was freaking intense and awesome!

If I'm not remembering this wrong, they include it in the movie as a short scene at least.

So, are you enjoying yourself or not? It seems like you're pushing yourself  :amane:

Not really, I think it'll end up on the bottom of my VN list, unless the true route is somehow super amazing. But I really don't like dropping VNs, especially not if they have a true route; I made it this far, no point in stopping now.

It's not downright horrible, it's just not very good, unfortunately.

Swan Song - normal end. Well. Quite depressing. But... unfinished? I wanted to see

Hibarin at the end, but there was nothing about her. Or maybe it's just me (in the middle of the night) who missed that part~

And

rape hell near the end of the story. The most terrifying thing in the whole novel for me, I guess.

Finished the first route or first ending on Ayakashibito... Well that was a loooooooong journey. It was the first Touko ending. In the middle of thze route (or more near the end) I thought "WTF, thats not a bad ending?!" in the end it might be a good ending. I'll read now the next ending and the bad one before i go for tonya.

I can't rate the VN so far but I would say it's really good. But for a proper rating I'll have to go all the way... SO see you in a couple of weeks  :Kappa:

This. I thought that part was great.

Though it does stain the hands of Soushichi.

Go enjoy cute Tonya.

Finished 0.1 Ending of Route B in I/O.

It was a startlingly different experience to Route A... Instead of character development being the focus, the themes of cooperation and friendship were prominent. I like them equally. Route B reminds me of Steins; Gate a little.

Finished up Steins;Gate finally. I'm happy to finally be able to get over my gaming ADHD so I can actually start reading VN's again.I've already seen the anime so the ending was no surprise to me. I did love the back and forward text messages between Kurisu and Okabe, the chemistry between these two is just perfect (also the Kurisu's text messages were just cute).

Best girl for me goes Kurisu>Amane>Faris>Moeka>Luka (Ackbar)>Mayuri

Best ending is Kurisu>Amane>Luka>Mayuri>Faris

Time for some Hoshizora no Memoria! But first maybe some sleep...

Finished I/O's Route C (1.0 Ending).

(Route A, B, C spoilers)

HOLY FUCKING SHIT. Mind blown. I did think Hinata might've become {HE} at some point, the revelation is still mind-fucking. I did also think one point if Mitsuko was lesbian during Route A, but I didn't think about it much How and why the fuck was Yumi the "only survivor" though, and of WHAT?! What the hell was with Magdalene? Gotta love that double twist in the end. The route was a bit too abrupt though, it could have been even more meaningful with some more exposition and such. Well, at least the protagonist now is aware of the total mindfuck around her, she gradually awakens to the time traveling. Route D is probably HEnata's story. Still no idea what the spiral at the very beginning is about. Route A and B were Steins; Gate, Route C is Umineko.

Was it depressingly horrible or was it depressingly well-written?

Reached chapter 4 of Chaos;Head. Thing is finally starting to move. And honestly, I think the protagonist isn't as annoying as people make it out to be. -_-

Quick question: Is the game not 100% translated? Most of the things in glossary aren't translated, some images aren't translated (thankfully I know what 「その目だれの目?」 means, I'm so proud of myself), and the title of chapter 3 isn't translated either. Did I get the wrong release or something?

I got it from my friend btw, so I don't know where he got it from. I'm sure it's not from fuwa though.
