What are you playing?

It took me starting and stopping a number of times over the last week, but I've finally managed to get into Utawarerumono and have it hold my interest.

Finally, after six months of reading and rereading, I finished Forest.

...Honestly, I don't know what to say. I'm still confused about stuff, but the ending was really nice. I need to make sense of whatever happened after VII more, since, well, it's all jumbled in my head. I do have a vague idea of what happened, but I'd much rather like it if I actually grasped what truly happened. Well, with a VN like this, I don't think that's possible. But you can try and get as close as you can to the intended truth, right?

Alice of Death looked really cute.

Of course I am, Alice.

Also, restarted Higurashi once again. This time, I'm taking down notes. I'm starting with Mangagamer's original translation. Only now did I notice how many errors there are in their translation. Only now did I notice that something doesn't feel right while reading it. Well, as long as I understand. I just finished the tour of Hinamizawa in Onikakushi, so I'm still at the beginning. I promise to see this through until the final arc this time. The farthest I've ever gone was the seventh one.

I intend to reread it once Mangagamer's Steam releases all finish, of course.

Finished Down the Rabbit Hole I. I like the random sort of comedy, so it wasn't as much of a drag as I expected which is always good. There was something about the train scene that I loved but I can't pinpoint it yet. Hmmm...

Mid-way through Down the Rabbit Hole II.

Damn, did things go to shit here. :D I love how VNs can make you freak out about some small things. Cicadas, food, snow, water, and now cellphones.

Yuki's really cool. <-- Probably least spoilery thing I can mention, lol.

playing Soukou Akki Muramasa, looks pretty awesome, though it has bad ends only......guess it is time to witness my first bad end...I'v always avoided bad ends so far, hence th name, so I don't know how bad they are,and I know the Japanese can put some pretty dark stuff in their brains....( learned this from anime....),hopefully it does not corrupt me.

Playing Fate/Hollow Ataraxia at the moment. Being a huge fan of Fate/Stay Night, it couldn't be helped. Though at first I wasn't too thrilled with it, I decided to trudge through it, and man, it's not disappointing. It feels like a perfect blend of Fate/Stay Night with Carnival. Simply beautiful. Granted, I'm getting bad ends all over the place because I can't help but do all the SoL scenes over main plot stuff, but hey, it's worth it. :P

I think I've lost count of how many bad ends I've encountered so far. It's not often I have time (or desire) to binge eight hours on a VN, and that speaks enough in itself. I will thoroughly enjoy this.

Get bad ends is pretty much the only thing you can do in F/HA. :P

Yeah, it sure seems that way. Have you finished it? I'm not sure if there's a pace I should be setting as far as progression, or what gives, because I'm not really sure how far I am into the story. I have like 10 hours in it, but like I said, I've mainly been doing SoL stuff.

That said, Shirou hasn't figured out that events are looping. He's still in the stage where he feels like he "remembers" some things, but doesn't think anything of it. I beat Archer at the bridge, and that's how far I am. I take it still have a long ways to go? Especially with my concentration on SoL bits.

Though, I've done a fair amount of SoL stuff. Just finished watching the pool scene with Shirou and Saber, oh man. Poor Lancer. LOL.

I finished the best eroge ever. Damn, you know the writing is good when it throws out dynamic content like there's no tomorrow. And the way the writing goes all over the place is a sure sign of quality too!

This is most definitely the best.

10/10

I got a good laugh out of it.

IMO the SoL is the best part of the VN. That's not to say the story is bad, but if you just do the stuff you need for it you'll miss the best parts. No idea how long I've spent on it (and I still have a few events left) though, but it's quite a bit.

I know I just criticized that new alcott game for being unoriginal in your new blog post but you know what, it doesn't hold a candle to Moonstone's new game. I am honestly kind of shocked at how identical it seems to PE every time I see it.

Yeah, I personally plan on focusing mostly on all the SoL events as much as possible before I do the main story stuff. It's just far more interesting IMO. Like you said, it's not that it's bad, it's just... The SoL bits are... Golden, lol.

Finished Down the Rabbit Hole II.

Well, damn. What happened to the Wakatsuki Twins? That scene was both sad and crazy. I was thinking they could be a delusion of Yuki's but there are a lot of things that contradict that.

On to Invention. I'm getting excited.

Finished KiraKira, Deardrops and D2B vs Deardrops. I liked KiraKira the most.

I wonder what you guys think about what happened in the true ending in KiraKira.

What would you have done if you were in Maejima Shikanosuke shoes?

Would you have saved Kiraris father knowing she would be send into prostitution which she would probable be stuck in for most of her life. Her sisters would most likely have to follow into prostitution when they get to that age cause the debt seems to be huge.

Or would you have let the father die knowing the debt would be erased from Kiraris family and they would be able to live a relatively happy life after a while.

Going to finish all the VN's I have stalled before I start anything new. First on my list is Nekopara, started the very beginning a while back but didn't get very far. It seems like a fairly short read so I guess it's a good place to start.

Started YU-NO, I guess after System Shock 1 and this I am a sucker for late 1990's music.

How the hell do I save though? (I know there is no skip and no backlog)

There is actually a skip. I don't know why it wasn't working for me at first, but it's there. Although kind of slow. And you can't see the text while doing it...

The game actually has two gameplay modes. The prologue is menu-based and once you're able to move about, you should be able to save. Note that for that kind of save, you're only given one save slot. Once you leave the prologue you can save at any point other than in dialog by clicking the new interface element at the bottom left of the screen. And you'll soon be introduced into the OTHER save mechanic.

You will want to read a walkthrough for this game. I found the flowchart and the basic text walkthrough linked to on the tlwiki page to be more than adequate. Although if you ever find yourself unable to figure out how to progress, you can consult this super comprehensive guide here: https://vndb.org/t2459

How do I save once I am able to move about?

"Princess Evangile 2" impression:

Same setting, same character design, same scene, even the damn system of "onee-sama" and "course" are also the same.

Seriously Moonstone!?

Good grief, finally I found something to bash in my review.

Btw, am I the only one who got really disturbed by that chain-thingy (no idea what it's called) on her chest?

It can be easy to finish without a walkthrough though, I actually managed finish the game by looking for a hint only once:

To get into Mio's route.

I suppose it can be useful if one has bad luck on finding a certain item.

Got the Kimika Ending for Invention.

Ending aside, invention was utter madness. This picture probably explains it best.

0339.jpg

On the ending events, it was sweet. Kimika herself is really cute, and hearing her motivations on the events regarding Zakuro was interesting. It made me more interested in Looking-Glass Insects.

The bullying scenes were really messed up, but I wasn't as uncomfortable as I thought I'd be. The ero is bad though. Really bad.
