bogdankl Posted May 3, 2016 Posted May 3, 2016 so can I just say that comyu's main route had one of the best god dam endings I ever saw, the only gripe I had with it was the fact Spoiler that they killed gasai off screen, that was sort of a let down, but I really liked how everything wrapped up in the end, also my favorite grill in the vn, even tho she didn't get a route got a really satisfying conclusion to her story, it's funny I wanted a yoruko route and I was really sad when I realized there was none, then I was really excited when I realized she had a H scene but the more I played the VN the less I wanted to see a H scene with her, tho in the end I think hers is the only good and relevant one in the entire VN, it actually has a purpose and it just fits really well in the overall story, unlike hisokas which went something like, "OH I just found out you're suicidal and you just told me about your depressing past, great time to bang" and yes.... it took me like half a year to actually finish this VN does any1 know where I can get high rez versions of the cg's? please PM me, thank you Fred the Barber 1 Quote

HotTrax Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 Wagamama High Spec – Finished the last route and I have to say, overall it was very bland. There was enough there to make the characters somewhat likable but not enough to make me care about their story; their personalities were akin to that of side characters to be honest. It is definitely not a bad game but everything about it was entirely forgettable. Quote

That last route's ending being so well-executed is most of why I think so highly of Comyu and why I recommend it to people so often. The atmosphere it built, the CG, and the music all combine for a really remarkable moment. It's probably my favorite VN ending, and one of my two favorite moments in any VN (only Gahkthun has a scene near the end that competes with it). Nerathim and Mr Poltroon 2 Quote
melo4496 Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 Started Bloody Rondo. Nice OP. After 30mins of reading, I'd say I'm most probably going to like this game.. I'll probably give Comyu a try. Quote
Leaf Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 Finished One Thousand Lies! Yesterday I practically tied myself to my computer to finish reading this, i'm such a procrastinator most of the time that it had to be done. My opinion on this is mostly 50/50 I guess. The characters are likable enough for me to be interested in them and the humor is appealing to me. I think it would've been better if the heroines had separate routes though and the ending takes a complete 180 to me, although with a title like this I knew I shouldn't take anything at face value. I guess Hägar nails it best with this one: Okay, that was a lot worse than expected, but I start with the good points: I still like the cover image and the intro at the start also wasn't so bad. Now to the not so great stuff: First, the fullscreen mode is buggy, only showing part of the screen because the image is zoomed in for some reason, and I therefore had to use window mode. The next thing is that the title only uses computer rendered backgrounds for everything, that look like they were directly taken from a street racing game of the ninties. It just looks incredibly artificial and sterile. The sprites are better but they are still rather cheaply made and don't fit to the backgrounds at all. The story could have been interesting with some ancient beings possessing human bodies. Unfortunately the actual setting is as bland as it gets with the protagonist being a school boy (how innovative!!!) helping out his detective friend with murder cases. And naturally, he also has a female friend at school responsible for the romance part of the story. The story itself is presented in tiny little breadcrumps as you are clicking yourself through a map with various locations to visit. The dialogs there are rather short and generic and accompanied by some rather uninspired music tracks that most certainly weren't particular helpful in creating a dark and suspenseful mood. In addition the POV constantly swaps between the protagonist and his (girl-) friend. And the final nail in the coffin for me was that the hot chick on the cover actually seems to be a drag queen. Overall, maybe there is still some hidden gem buried under all the rubbish, but I certainly won't be the guy to find that out. Everything about it just screams cheaply made OELVN. Simply no comparison to ambitious doujin titles like the Fault Milestone series. Quote
WinterfuryZX Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 S;G Phenogram, Moeka's chapter. Mayuri's chapter was interesting but the more bullshit wordlines they add the less I enjoy the game ( This is not a "normal" multiverse, every worldline is supposed to be resetted until Okabe reachs the Steins;Gate, I don't get how everything could work like this... ). At least we get too see the inner toughts of all the main characters, Moeka is totally paranoid and Fairis is basically a female Okabe. It would have been much better if they remained on divergences similar to the ones we experienced in the original game. Vorathiel 1 Quote
bogdankl Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 forgive me father for I have sinned... https://vndb.org/v18713#main Spoiler but no, I'm just kidding, I started reading fate/stay night and I just wanna know 2 things 1. Do I always read from the perspective of Toosaka Rin <the vndb page states that the protagonist is Shirou> 2. When the hell do I get to access the god dam main menu??? Quote
LiquidShu Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 I pretty much stalled out Steins;Gate after my first route (Faris). I'm not sure if I want to come back to it or just watch the anime for the true end. Besides that I picked up Koihime and from what I have played (roughly 6 hours) it's fun. I play quite a bit of Dynasty Warriors and The Romance of The Three Kingdoms stuff interests me. However, from what I have heard after the first play through the other routes (aside from the last one) don't really change. Doing another two play through's after this one just for that doesn't seem appealing. Quote

Eclipsed Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Surprised I'm enjoying Code Realize. I might even read Norn9 Common or w.e next, but for now Gonna start Victor's route Quote
Turnip Sensei Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Seeing how much I enjoyed Kara no Shoujo I just couldn't keep my hands off the sequel. KnS2 is going to be my entertainment for the weekend. So far I read the prologue/Hitogata part. It was surprisingly interesting, although somewhere in the middle I almost forgot I was reading KnS. Still I really enjoyed the chemistry between the children and the secluded village had it's own pretty cool atmosphere. I really wouldn't have minded reading more about that. If I had to complain about something, then why wasn't Nanako&Naori a thing. But yeah, it's still nice to get back to the normal flow of the game. I heard the investigation systems were improved, so looking forward to that. And voiced Reiji, and more Yukari... Also, damn KnS2 is pretty. Graphics aren't that important to me in VNs, but what can I say. Really beautiful art is just really damn beautiful. melo4496, XReaper and Vorathiel 3 Quote

Because Naori had a mutual crush on Futami Yuu of course. B) They were so great together. How do you liked the third person narration in that whole segment? Reading a vn without a protagonist was somehow strange for me, but at a same time refreshing and really enticing. Wish to see more of that. No protag >> bland protag, every time. Quote
Eclipsed Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 Started Victor Frankenstein's route in Code Realize after popular vote This guy's such a treat; Van Helsing was a total "i don't need you!@#!!1" prick from start to finish, but soft guy Victor is kind of obliged to spend more time with Cardia since he's her personal examiner-doctor-alchemist buddy and story-wise being more plot related to her. Which he was good at, during the common route. But now he has the feel feels for Cardia Quote

Judging by that reaction, it seems the part about Hitogata village is quite dividing topic. People and their poor taste... I didn't even pay any attention to the third person narration honestly, it just felt like a natural way to tell the story. But now that you mention it, it's not that usual, huh. It really does create a different feeling though, the description feel very different when they aren't passed through somebody. It would be nice if VNs played little more with perspective switches, as the dynamic structure makes it easier to jump between different narrators. For example Sakurai does some pretty cool things in her Steampunk-games by seamlessly changing between first and third person narration, and I wouldn't mind seeing more of that kind of thing elsewhere. And one last thing before I get back to KnS2. I really like Reiji's voice, and more the fact that he's actually voiced now. His voice now brings out his inner softie in a way that the text alone couldn't. Quote
Eclipsed Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 Finished Victor's Route Code Realize. It wasn't as thrilling as Van Helsing's route; less action since Franky likes to talk-no-jutsu his way through things, and the main antagonist for this route has got to have one of the most illogical and stupid evil "for the greater good" plots I've ever seen But it completely kicks ass in the romance department, with Cardia and Vicky constantly reaffirming their trust and love in each other to the very end unless you decide to yolo commit suicide during the climax choice which makes absolutely no sense to choose at all in that specific moment and is basically a WTF PLAYER?! choice Anyways, best part: ^I've been making fun of the whole "she wants the D" thing for years now but I felt genuinely happy for Cardia here and was cheering out loud like an idiot. But yeah, Spoiler SHE WANTS THE D!!!!1!1! Franky's currently best guy so far, since he'll probably be the only Hero to get this far with Cardia since plot.YES! But we're going all ages, folks! ~~ Based on my poll I'm gonna go Saint Germain next(he's the mysterious-awesome, looking forward to it), and then Impey(he's the wild card; I think I won't enjoy his route cuz I'm not really feeling his character, but we'll see). Lupin's unlocked after everybody else, being the True Route. Damn unlockables. Quote
Vokoca Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 Just finished Al's route in the PS2 port of Demonbane. That was quite a ride, quite fun to just turn your brain off and enjoy the shounen chuuni filled with Lovecraft. For those who have played it, just how different are the other two routes? I heard they're quite similar, at least at first... I am considering taking a break from the VN since the ending felt conclusive enough, just wondering how much priority I should put on the remaining routes. Not sure if I want to start a different long VN like this, but that S;G0 copy was sitting here for like two months now... Quote

Leica's route is very different, but has large sections which are poorly translated and poorly edited, which make it less enjoyable. Al's route is by far the best, IMO. You did both endings, right? If not, go back and get the other one - they're both worth reading. Edit: Also, Leica's route is generally just considered weaker than the other two; I'm kind of inclined to agree. But it is very different, at least, once you get past the Common Route. Quote
