Clephas Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 http://www.gamespot.com/articles/grandia-ii-hd-edition-coming-to-gogcom-set-for-201/1100-6429172/?utm_source=gamefaqs&utm_medium=partner&utm_content=news_module&utm_campaign=homepage Something to look forward to. Grandia II is by far the best game in the series, in terms of story, and it also has the incredibly awesome Grandia battle system, which is the best turn-based rpg battle system. Just enough strategy to be enjoyable without making it too much of a hurdle for the slow of mind. With an added hard mode and Japanese voices, I'm really interested in playing this again... Quote
XReaper Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 definitely a top title, played it to death on dreamcast & enjoyed every minute of it edit: them bosses later on are wayyyy too weak when you´ve pumped your team up. edit2: loved the "soulless" robogirl as a character Quote
Deep Blue Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 so many good memories I still miss my dreamcast Quote
Decay Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Grandia 2 is one of my favorite JRPGs from my teenage years, so naturally I'm interested in this. They're doing a real shit job on the hd upscale, though. It looks like a lot of the interface elements are stretched, there's aliasing, it's still in 4:3, and basically it looks no better than just running it on an emulator. Quote
BookwormOtaku Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 One of my favorite PS2 RPGs, definitely getting this Quote
sanahtlig Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 People are interested in remakes of games they've already finished? Quote
Decay Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Yes. People often enjoy playing games multiple times, especially games they finished and enjoyed many years ago and wish to revist. Quote

sanahtlig Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Seems tedious and repetitive to me--like being caught in a time loop where your thoughts and experiences merge to form a maddening chorus of deja vu. Like trying to rewrite a long message board post that was lost. Quote
Clephas Posted July 29, 2015 Author Posted July 29, 2015 It depends... with most games, it isn't worth it. However, there are a few games in every half-decade that are worth playing again and again. Fortunately or unfortunately, those games really are very few in number, relative to the number of overall releases. I've replayed Evolimit four times, for instance... and VNs are generally harder to replay than rpgs. Quote

Tawm Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 The new difficulty mode and original VA sounds good, but the lack of true widescreen support makes me lean towards just sticking to PS2 emulation, which does have widescreen support as well as downsampling and shaders, just like a PC game. Not to mention I don't have to buy the game again. Quote
SilverLi Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 So you don't need to play Grandia 1 first to understand the story? Because I haven't played this game and a good jrpg is something I always want. Quote

XReaper Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 this has been one of the very few games where i desperately hoped for a harem ending, simply because i couldnt decide whom to ship more... BookwormOtaku 1 Quote

sarkasmus Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Grandia 2 on gog would be great, because I can't find it anywhere and I wnat to play it after knowing the first one. Quote
LinovaA Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Holy shit! Much hype! I freaking loved this game back when I played it in middle school. I've been really itching to replay it in the last few months, so this announcement has arrived at an opportune time. xD Quote
Kenshin_sama Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 I really wanted to play this game when I was younger, but never got the chance to (my parents rarely bought games for me) and eventually forgot about it. But now that it's brought back to my attention, I'll definitely give this game a whirl. Quote
kyrt Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 I still have my PS2 version but I'll probably pick this up. Quote
