terminallyfacetious Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 If you're looking for a game that does mindscrew right, or a mystery that's difficult but still possible to figure out on your own, then Omega no Shikai could be the game for you! Now, if you've played this game in Japanese you know how difficult it could be to translate, not exactly syntax-wise, but content-wise. There are a lot of subtleties, puns, and even made up words in the Japnaese that need to show through in the translation. I can't explain it much better than Amaterasu's review, except that from the large portion I've played, even with only enough knoledge of Japanese to scratch the surface, Omega no Shikai is an interesting and intelligent read. Also keep in mind that the last part of the game was released after this review, and many plot threads are tied up therein. I'd suggest downloading and playing the demo from nekobanana's website or from dlsite.com to see if you're interested before committing to a spot in this group, because it's definitely for a specific kind of person. But if you're looking for something that stands out, you can consider yourself interested already. Of course, this project warrents some very skilled translator(s), and I usually don't like to do this, but a translation checker, or "consultant," will be fundamental to this project. A second opinion will be crucial to retaining as much of the nuance as we possibly can. A hacker would be nice as well, but the game's written in Kirikiri so it kind of hacks itself. Still, I'm clueless about that kind of stuff, so it would be appreciated. I can probably take on the position of project manager, as I have a lot of free time on my hands. I can also edit, because I have a LOT of time on my hands, but feel free to volunteer for an editing position. I don't mind sharing or dropping it completely if you are an amazing editor. Please, don't be shy and help us release this amazing mystery to the English speaking world, and kick those stereotypical "mysteries" that treat you like idiots to the curb! Positions Claimed: Translator: 0/2 Hacker: 0/1 Editor: 1/2? Project Head: 1/1 Contact me by comment or private message. Thanks! Quote
