Mkilbride Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 I started this VN last year and played through it until near-ish the end, I can't remember exactly, but it was a struggle, even using a Walkthrough. At a certain point though, I just got so fed up with the exploration, something I usually LOVE( I play a ton of puzzle games), that despite the fact the story was going to be getting good, I guess, I gave up. It felt like to much of a chore. With the announcement of the remake, I was wondering, who here actually finished it? It was a chore to get through at times, and the story payoff for most of the game did not exist. Maybe it all comes out in the final route, but played like 30+ hours without any of the REAL story being revealed, just a bit there, most of it was just romancing the ladies or a bad end. Quote
WinterfuryZX Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 most of it was just romancing the ladies or a bad end. What? Are you sure you're not confusing it with another game? LOL... The story is always there, being constantly revealed little by little, Kanno did a really god job in keeping the geme interensting, expecially in the first part. Quote
Funyarinpa Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 I thought the main routes were decent but once you finish the main routes it's INSANE. Agreed that it's a chore but it's definitely worth it- I think I played 10 hours of YU-NO in one sitting once. Amazing. Canicheslayer 1 Quote
WinterfuryZX Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 I actually liked the first part much more than the epilogue. Quote
mjriedstra Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 I didn't finish it. I've constantly been trying to convince myself to go back and do it, but with the remake coming, I decided to wait and hope that the new version will retain the old game's strengths and remove the weaknesses. Quote
Soulless Watcher Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Much like the op I just couldn't deal with the mechanics of this visual novel. I love the classic art and the story even intrigued me, but right after the prologue at the part in which you have to faff about with the gems I fucking threw in the towel. I don't care if it was the greatest visual novel ever, if something gives me a headache due to frustrating game mechanics I'm not dealing with it. I play visual novels to forget my problems not add to them. Quote
kingdomcome Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 I started it, and the first 20 minutes was boring/weird. I had no idea what was going on. feelsbadman.jpegI'll try again one day. Quote
