So I searched the forums and found no thread for this one. I just finished reading this and I must say, I absolutely loved it. When I found it earlier today on VNDB, I thought to myself "A 2-10h Nitro+ game? Well, Saya No Uta is one of my favourites so screw it." Read it in one sitting and little did I know it was a Urobutcher one. Man, Nitro+ games or Urouchi games have such a charm to them. Whether it's story, characters, music or artwork, they always have the right amount of dystopia, hope, bleakness and action to be all killer no filler. I found the melee and katana combat much more titilating than I expected and the action is awesome. I guess the only complaint I have is that only after finishing it, did I realise I had read the All Ages version, though that did not bother me much, given that it made the action occur faster and the relationships aspect was powerful enough on its own. Regarding the ending:

I've found that unless it's Saya no Uta or Steins;Gate, there's very little interest in discussing Nitro+ titles by non-Japanese speakers.

 

I can also confirm that you're not missing out on anything by playing the 2011 remake. People love telling me otherwise, but the h-scenes play out exactly the same as in the 18+ version, only with a few cut lines and a slightly different flow of dialog in one of them. It takes about an hour to re-implement the uncut h-scenes and artwork, but the difference in CG quality is an immersion killer. Not to mention that some of the gynoids have been redesigned.

 

I'd be up for discussion, having more or less the whole script burned into my memory.

Down reviewed this in a more early FuwaReview. He liked it a lot and it remains one of the highest rated VNs we've reviewed.

While the reader will likely come to hate Ruili, Taoluo's final sacrifice to his sister is giving up everything he's ever believed in to spend an eternity together. In the end, Taoluo is finally at peace. To Urobuchi, this is a happy ending.

Huh, really? I found myself growing fonder and fonder of Ruili with each passing transfer. And the ending seems like a victory well earned, given all his sacrifices and efforts. Some of Taoluo's foes thought he had become honorless, but you could see that despite the fact that he "accepted" the collateral damage as part of his quest, he felt sorry and guilty for it (before Ruili washed the guilt away with her smile, at least).
