rewrite issue on parallels for mac

I installed parallels on a mac to play visual novels since there are hardly any that support it. It's easy to set up and working great so far, I've completed many VNs on mac this way. Occasionally I have problems, usually I can solve them, but when I can't I seek help here. I have a couple of problems this time. As soon as I open the game Rewrite, the sprites and text flickers and that continues even after starting the story. The screen is totally fine during movie sequences/when showing a cg background. During the story, the text flicker and loops back and forth without finishing the sentences and I also don't see control buttons. When I go to the configuration menu, I know that the screen changed but it doesn't display it. I know because I hear the UI sounds when I pass the mouse over the various buttons. I wanted to know if the issue if from the game files themselves, so I copied them and pasted them on a windows system and there were none of the issues I experienced.
