solidbatman Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Lets start a completely pointless, unnecessary discussion that will no doubt turn into a giant flame war argue over what game is the best of the year! So yeah, what game was the best of 2015? Quote
InvictusCobra Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 (edited) I'm torn between Pillars of Eternity and The Witcher 3. Edited November 17, 2015 by InvictusCobra Quote
Silvz Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Splatoon. It is a great game, which is totally new [a new IP] and it managed to get its own space without relying on other Nintendo games. I think that only people who can't play it [nintendo exclusive] may not agree with me. solidbatman 1 Quote
Abyssal Monkey Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 I'm voting Pillars.I haven't had this much fun playing a game in a really long time. Quote
Kradar Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 (edited) Well, as long as no one mentions Undertale for "best game of 2015" (God forbid ) i think almost anything can be called best of 2015.As for me... Necrodancer or The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth i suppose? I'm a fan of roguelikes and suchI haven't bought many games (of) this year, admittedly. No, wait, I almost never buy games the same year they come out. Why do I have to pay full price when i can wait till it gets decently discounted? Edited November 17, 2015 by Kradar Quote

UNDERTALE BEST GAME 2015!!!111!11!!! Even though I've never played it.Seriously though, I don't think I've even played a single game that released this year. AaronIsCrunchy 1 Quote
Okami Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Hyperdimension Neptunia Re-Birth Triology.True if we are talking only about western games then maybe Pillars, true this was a rather week year for western games, on the other hand there ware many great JRPG ports on steam. Then Again even if it wasn't such a week year for western games they still don't really sand a chase against JRPGs anyway. Quote
Monmon Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Bloodborne,Mgs 5, and Fall out 4(lol)But xenoblade Chron X may or may not take the best game of the year for me...damn western censorship, western release wont get boobies slider for Chron X's characters editor. Quote

Poorly balanced, with bad stories, and grinding gameplay only offset by a fun battle system, and some fun console/game related references that the series has sadly drifted away from. JRPG ports on steam do not count unless the game is remastered in a way that changes the original game significantly (ie. System Shock Enhanced would count due to the addition of mouse aiming). Aside from one or two jrpg releases (TitS 2 for example) it was a weak release year for JRPGs and they are overshadowed by major releases like MGSV, Mad Max, Fallout 4, etc. Quote
tahu157 Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 School is draining my life away so I think the only game that released this year that I've played was StarCraft II Legacy of the Void. Could be wrong but that's all that comes to mind. Quote
Godskrieg Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Witcher 3, i'm biased towards it because I love CDPR with all my heart. But I can honestly say that no game has surpassed it this year, Fallout was the main competitor in my opinion, but fell short. Quote
AaronIsCrunchy Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 It'll probably be Football Manager 2016 when I eventually buy it. I don't really play much in the way of games however, so I can't think of many others. I enjoyed agar, I guess? Quote
Lewycool Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 It's still 2015.... There's games still coming out... You are aware of this right bats? Quote
Maxel Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 For the guys nominating Flatout4 here (please...)Â Of course Witcher 3, no doubt about it. Quote

Deep Blue Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 the silent hill pachinko machine to be honest im not sure, i didn't enjoy any game to a level of considering it game of the year. Quote
Eclipsed Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 The only 2015 games I've played on my Vita are Hyperdimension Re, Corpse Party BD, and Atelier Ayesha Plus, so my vote goes to AtelierWon't get around to Witcher 3 / Fallout 4 until years later cuz my lappy couldn't even play Geralt from Varela at lowest settings without dying a horrible, horrible death Quote
Turnip Sensei Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Trails in the Sky SC or Ar nosurge PlusWitcher 3 was nice too, but not nearly as an unforgettable experience as the other two. Quote

It was the expansion pack, Afterbirth, that was released in 2015.That said, I played very few things that released this year. My GOTY right now (though Danganronpa 2 would surpass both but I can't remember if I played it this year) is either The World Ends With You or Planescape: Torment. Honestly wasn't all that enamored by TWEWY, or maybe I was so enjoying it I didn't realize that I was. Anyways I don't remember much else I played this year that I was utterly blown away by. Ace Attorney?...If only I could remember when I played some stuff... Quote

Aside from one or two jrpg releases (TitS 2 for example) it was a weak release year for JRPGs and they are overshadowed by major releases like MGSV, Mad Max, Fallout 4, etc.The story in Neptunia is really great and unique as well as characters and if you get the way you should be playing it it is not unbalanced at all, whoever says that Neptunia is unbalanced clearly didn't play any really unbalanced games and there is hardly much grinding. True it is True that English translation is awful so people who play it in English are missing on at least half of it's charm, and that this is game that is aimed at hardcore otaku witch already makes it better then western stuff. Also Re-birth 3 did come out this year so it's still counts. The only reason why MGSV, Mad Max, Fallout 4, etc. are considered major releases are because of their budget and marketing in terms of quality they are hardly even worth mentioning, especially not in the same conversation where we talk about quality JRPGs.
