It's being made by Otherside Games, who are also the developers of the Ultima Underworld sequel Ultima Ascension. The team has a lot of old ex-Looking Glass members on board.

In case you were not aware, System Shock was rescued from its legal limbo this year and the franchise's full rights transferred to Night Dive Games, which is the company who are the reason the first two System Shock games are sold on GOG and Steam today.

Ok. I never played the originals, but I do know that many gamers are very fond of them. I am very interested to see more details about it.

I loved the Bioshock games (subtracting Bioschock 2 of course), which I understand are sort of a spiritual successor to the series, but I've always held off on trying System Shock. The micromanaging of the menu systems looks scary as fuck.

They ARE a bit overwhelming, but honestly the SS1 Enhanced Edition on GOG makes things quite easy. For SS1, you can scale down the enemy difficulty at first and restart when you are comfortable with the UI. SS2 lets you change difficulty on the fly IIRC, and even if not it's quite streamlined and it's easy to get used to. 

WONDERFUL story, definitely give it a go. Both games should be for dirt cheap on GOG right now.

I don't know about this, 1 year ago they were asking money on kickstarter to fund a game with a tiny budget and now they are going to develop a game, I do like the people behind this company but still don't know about this.
