Tay Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 I'm hoping Jast decides to put Steins;Gate on Steam eventually. I firmly believe it would sell far better than Higurashi. Me, too. InvertMouse's attempt to greenlight Unhack demonstrated the instant-judgement people pass on art styles these days. I'd imagine SG would draw a whole lot more mouse-clicks than Higurashi straight out of the gate for that single reason. It's too bad, but it's very real. Quote
InvertMouse Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 Good to see the forums back ! I have a visual novel type game on Greenlight as well and have received a fair amount of trolling. A lot of people there hate anything that looks like anime and will loathe it outright. But yeah, that said, Higurashi was an interesting choice~ At least those PS2 games etc had updated illustrations. Quote

PS: Unhack is awesome. For the new folks on the forum, you should "Go Now" (in the words of Ryoji). Quote
solidbatman Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 Just a heads up, Dysfunctional Systems: Learning to Manage Chaos, is now on Steam. It never was on Greenlight, but is still a great addition for VN lovers (or so I hear). You can buy it here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/248800/?snr=1_4_4__101 Quote

Just dropped the $5 bucks for it. Never played it before, hopefully I'll get around to knocking it out tomorrow evening since it's so short. Quote
InvertMouse Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 I recall playing a bit of this game on my phone. The artwork looks great! Quote
Nosebleed Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 I think the fact that Steam allowed an actual VN title is pretty impressive but the fact that they chose Higurashi isn't impressive at all. I agree with everyone else here that there should be a different title that represents VNs a lot better. If they go like this of course they're going to get bashed by western people. Most people in western countries just view steam as a place to get FPS games and other action related franchises, nothing else. So their reactions aren't that unreasonable if you consider what they are used to seeing though i find the foul language unecessary but whatever, trolls are trolls. If they do want to give VN any chance to stand against major FPS franchises they need to use more recent novels that portray what the visual novel world is all about, i'll agree with something like Steins;Gate or Little Busters! It'd definitely change everything, considering Higurashi is a kinetic novel and is so outdated most westerns wouldn't even take a 2nd look at it. In the end i find the steam greenlight awesome but the VN choice awful. Quote
Nosebleed Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Don't get me wrong. I love Higurashi, but it isn't the best VN that they could show as their premiere title. I'm pretty sure that JAST wants to release Steins;Gate on Steam eventually, though. I sure hope so, it's a much better decision to introduce Visual Novels to steam. And i love higurashi as well but i can still think rationally and figure out that it's not something that is everyone's cup of tea and especially not the steam community's cup of tea. Quote

Nosebleed Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 If they don't end up putting Little Busters in there.. (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Quote
