Nekolover Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Good visual novel review YouTube channels and recommendations for good editing software. Good visual novel review YouTube channels and recommendations for good editing software. First one I looking for inspiration. I already know what style I want to use but I rather see if there a better way. For editing. I need something that let me capture any part of the visual novel on all is full glory. Be images or sound. I am a noob so sorry if this sound stupid. But I need something that let me capture long and I mean long period of video. Be from the game it self or me doing the review. That can take a lot of editing. No just pulling stuff out of it but putting stuff in it too. Also what visual novels would you recommend reviewing? I open to every genre. I apologize if this the wrong section to put this question. Quote
babiker Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Quickly going to go through most VN reviewers I know:-https://www.youtube.com/user/Ashadow700More or less the "founding father" of VN video reviews. His Rewrite review is my personal favourite.https://www.youtube.com/user/mattroks101Matt's is a pretty funny dude, although most of the VNs he reviews are Western, hence bad. He also does some other stuff on his channel. His KS review is definitely a must watch.https://www.youtube.com/user/Belmakor19While simple, Bel's videos are plentiful. Between him and Ash, you should find a review for most of the popular VNs out there. His LB! review is probably my favhttps://www.youtube.com/user/pokestory1/This is Rockmandash's channel, who has also reviewed a couple of VNs the others haven't touched. I like his "VNs on the go!" video the most c:Those are the main four, here are some honorable mentions:-https://www.youtube.com/user/Aaox00/While he has technically only reviewed 2 VNs, Aaox's reviews are superb. You definitely don't want to miss out on those twohttps://www.youtube.com/user/thespazgamingSpaz has also only reviewed two titles, but they're still worth watching, and he's still the only one who's reviewed SnU out of the rest...And those are all the ones I know. I may have missed a few, but I doubt so, it's not exactly a popular field As for editing, well I personally like Magix because of it's ease and simplicity, but you can use anything really. Although you're talking about "recording" yourself playing, which isn't the same as editing. You can look up any screen capturing software, although I'm personally not very familiar with themAnd finally, you should review whatever you want to review the most. Don't review a VN just because it's popular, but because it was so amazingly awesome/awful that you have to talk about it. Or at least that's what I think. I hope I answered your questions, and gl with your channel kingdomcome 1 Quote
Zalor Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 (edited) Quickly going to go through most VN reviewers I know:-https://www.youtube.com/user/Ashadow700More or less the "founding father" of VN video reviews. His Rewrite review is my personal favourite.Don't mean to be a prick about this, but there is no way that Ashadow reviews is the "founding father of VN video reviews", when PhatomZwei has been doing Youtube video reviews of VNs since 2006. His second oldest video is a review of Kana Little Sister and that was uploaded 9 years ago. So I think the title belongs to him. Furthermore, of all the VN video reviews I've seen, his stuff is probably the best. His reviews are organized, well edited, and do a great job of describing the successes and faults of a VN without delving into spoilers. His only fault really is that he rarely uploads. Rockmandash12 Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 (edited) Gotta agree with Zalor here, PhantomZwei is really the first VN reviewer and he got me into reviews. Good stuff, just wish he'd do more reviews. Babi nailed all the YT reviewers I know, check his comment. (Also, some of my videos have editing errors, sorry in advance :/)For capturing, I use and would recommend Bandicam, unlike other apps, it records over footage even if it's not called a game because it records the window itself. It also gives small files, I really like it.For audio, I'd recommend audacity, pretty much anyone uses it.For editing, use any video editing program. Ash uses adobe which has more effects, I use Sony Movie Studio Platinum (Vegas Pro for consumers bc I don't want to pirate it) which is more simple. try some out and see what works for you. Also, VN reviews don't get a lot of views in general and are a lot of work, be prepared for frustration. it can be really hard but ultimately it's worth it Edited December 28, 2015 by Rockmandash12 Quote

Ashadow700 Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 For editing your videos, it depends entirely on how much experience of video editing you have. If you've already done quite a bit of it, then the (as far as I know) best software out there is Adobe Premiere Pro (I use this one) and Final Cut if you have a Mac. You should NOT touch either of these if you have no experience with editing though. They are super complicated and are extremely user unfriendly so they will be nearly impossible to use if you're just starting out. If you're a beginner then I would recommend checking out Magix Movie Edit or Camtasia Studios as they are geared much more towards beginners. And finally, if you have literally no experience at all with video editing, then you should first spend a few hours playing around with the freeware stuff just to learn the basics; Windows Movie Maker if you're using a PC and iMovie if you have a Mac. Hope that helps =) Quote

firecat Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 as a formal youtuber these program will help in the long run:BB flashback express (free version offers unlimited recording, unlike the bad ones everyone else suggest) - http://www.bbsoftware.co.uk/BBFlashBack_FreePlayer.aspxVSDC free video editor (its Non-linear editor meaning you can move pictures like Premiere Pro, no free program can offer that) - http://www.videosoftdev.com/free-video-editorEvolve - this one is for uploading to twitch, you do not need to add complex stuff just launch the game and broadcast (you do however have to experiment on it for best recording) https://www.evolvehq.com/welcomelastly all those files are too big to upload to youtube, thats why you need https://handbrake.fr/ it will cut down your video into profect youtube size upload.
