Zalor Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 This topic is meant to be both a question to Silent Hill 2 fans, and as a recommendation to Utsuge fans. I'll be honest, I haven't actually played Silent Hill 2, I just have a close friend who is obsessed with it and spoke to me in lots of detail about it. From clips of the game he's shown me, and conversations I've had with him, It seems like a game that would appeal to people who are big into VNs (particularly Utsuge fans). For the longest time I dismissed the game as just being a typical horror game, but then I realized that the game is more depressing than scary. Furthermore, it entrenches you in a simultaneously creepy and depressing atmosphere. The game seems to be largely about the atmosphere and its characters. So my question to Silent Hill 2 fans. If Silent Hill 2 were adapted as a VN, would much be lost without the game play. How important do you think the game play is to the game? Because I felt like I got a lot out of it just by watching a compilation of the cut scenes without having played it. Quote
Deep Blue Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Watch this video and you will understand why this game would never work as a vn or at least it wouldnt be the same (heavy spoilers) it was meant to be a 3d game from the beggining, also this is why when konami did the remastered version it ruined the game completely, by changing the voice acting, adding bad high res textures and the music itself. btw there is a vn made from sh 1 already and it is not the same, if you've played sh 1 already and then played the novel you will understand why. Also I don't think sh 2 is what you can consider in the vn world an utsuge, maybe more like a nakige (everything depends on the ending) and for the lols Quote
