VirginSmasher Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 There may not be a lot on this site, but I wanted to make a place where all us metalheads can discuss the music, genres, new releases, and other stuff. Also, don't bash other people's taste in metal. We all like different stuff. Personally, I'm a fan of all genres, some less than others. Quote
tahu157 Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Listening to Alice 'N Thunderland right now. Trying to track down the CD for a good price but I'm not having much luck. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1QMfVT-hr4 Quote
tahu157 Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 It could be all mine for just $75 http://www.amazon.com/Alice-n-Thunderland-Japan-Import/dp/B000T6H60C Quote

Some of the best modern metalcore I've heard in recent memory. Quote

tahu157 Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 I've never been a big -core fan, but that was pretty cool. Do you have a metal-archives account? Quote

tahu157 Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 If you don't know about them already, they're an encyclopedia of metal bands. I really love the site and contribute to it all the time. The only thing is they can be a bit snobby about what is and isn't metal, especially when it comes to Metalcore. E.g the Phinehas band you posted above is blacklisted. http://www.metal-archives.com/ Quote

Not my style considering how I respect every metal genre. Kawasumi 1 Quote

Kawasumi Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Oh my, Metal is an old genre that I really loved so much in the good old angsty teenage years, I dont listen to it often anymore but I find stuff thats pretty good every now and then. I like hipster black metal and tech death the most though like An automn for crippled children, origin, cattle decapitation, Altar of plagues. Oh I also have a guilty pleasure for post-hardcore but thats too much over in the punk/indie category to mention here tbh one of my all time favorites: EDIT Thanks for making this thread, you reminded me of a uttermost splendid band from China! SilverLi Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Well, I would't really call myself a metal fan maybe. More towards the rock, punk or metalcore. I don't listen to it that much but at least once or twice a year I got a period when I listen to it. But nonetheless. Here is my list of favorites: The Offspring In Flames Sonic Syndicate Hammerfall Sabaton Ensiferum Freedom Call Interesting. Swedish bands are good at making music. Quote

Kawasumi Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 This is my favorite (metal?) song atm though, holy shit Most "true metal fans" would call it absolute shit though, but luckily I have a guilty pleasure for synths and autotune lol Quote

They're pretty awesome and they're tech death so that is a bonus. (I'd post stuff from them here, but I'm in the middle of school right now). Quote

Lewycool Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 @Down made a thread like this a year or two ago. But w/e No point necroing an old thread Either way I've been listening to this song a lot. The riffs should be illegal. Spoiler Whitechapel is alright to listen to sometimes Spoiler I more or less got into metal by listening to slipknot, limp bizkit, SOAD and korn back in school. Anyone who adds A7x to their metal list is getting a slap. They're not metal! Kawasumi 1 Quote
tahu157 Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 On the subject of tech death, I came across this demo recently. It's pretty promising, especially the last song. https://vitiated.bandcamp.com/album/promo-2015 Quote
