kyrt Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 My Little Dictator, a romantic-comedy battle visual novel featuring rpg battles, map systems, historical shenanigans, and plenty of light-hearted alternate history fun. The year is 1939 and the continent of Europa is on the brink of war. The game is a mix of the traditional visual novel format but with an rpg battle system included. Players level up and fight in various battles with infantry, tanks, and other units in order to progress. There are bosses and mini-bosses and each enemy varies in difficulty. You find allies to aid you as well as neutral territories you can claim to act as a buffer zone against the enemy factions (which are likely France, Britannia, and the Sovian Union). The game primarily will be focusing on Europa during WWII. Players also gain affection points with girls and go on dates, shopping trips, and holidays with the the various heroines of the story. You play as Yamato a young general from the Japanese Army who becomes a tactician for Germania ruled by its leader Hitoria. History, comedy, romance, and a fanservice encompass this game to make it what it is. The game is still in development (since 2013) and simply has a release date of 'when it's ready'. I am looking forward to this visual novel simply because I've seen a number of screenshots for the game and the history jokes are pretty humorous. It is likely that this game will finally see release this year. I'm curious if anyone here backed this or if anyone actually has an interest in the game besides myself (I'm biased as I'm a history major). The kickstarter page for this game actually has a very brief demo for the game but so much has changed since then that I'm not sure how true the demo is to what the final product will be. I always find it interesting when visual novels take historical figures and use them in their stories or design. The creator of this game also did the recently and pretty well received visual novel Over the Hills and Far Away which has a review at http://reviews.fuwanovel.net/2015/10/12/over-the-hills-and-far-away/ Either way if you like history, Wargirlgames seems to be aiming to please. Look forward to the release...whenever that may be. You can also keep up with the progress at the following forum: http://innomenpro.com/forums/index.php?board=16.0 sample of the music: first heard in a preview of air combat. Nosebleed Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 It's not everyday you can make a cute game where one of the main heroines is hitler. I remember seeing this quite some time ago somewhere and found it pretty funny, hopefully it's released soon. As someone who's parents and grandparents lived under a dictatorship when they were young, I feel like I'm probably going to hell for enjoying this, but it's totally worth it. solidbatman Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 I backed this like the first day the KS started. I eagerly await this title to cover Europe in a shroud of weeb nazism Quote
CeruleanGamer Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 I love war visual novels with gameplay like Rance, Sengoku Hime, and Eiyuu Senki especially when they have characters based on real life characters but thats probably the cutest version of Hitler that I ever seen that I would automatically rate the game 10/10 even without playing it. I'll join you there, then. Or in all likelihood, you'll join me. Quote
Forgetful Frank Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 I'm intrigued! I'll have a good little research into it and see if it takes my fancy. Quote
sanahtlig Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 The concept is intriguing, the art seems not bad either. The chibi art looks good too...but those battle sprites... Quote

After reading many Sangoku, Sengoku, world domination and other historical VNs I have yet to find one which actually has the witty writing full of historical references you would expect such a game to have.
