OriginalRen Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Do any of you remember that new Pokemon phone application they announced that allows you to catch stuff all over the world? It turns out that Superbowl L in America is getting a commercial for it. Considering that time slots for Superbowl commercials cost a lot of money (about 4.5 million dollars for a 30 second clip), I guess they are very serious about making this thing launch properly. Thoughts? Quote
Funyarinpa Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Didn't give a shit about Pokemon then, don't give a shit about it now. If Nintendo is opening up to putting games on other platforms, though, that could have magnificent results. Quote
Nosebleed Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Trailer: As usual, the commercial is full of non in-game footage with lots of popular pokemon and makes the game look super cool and then people will get all hyped and have completely unrealistic expectations and then, as usual, the game turns out to be shit because that's how most mobile games tend to turn out to be. Even if it isn't shit in terms of how it functions, ever since it's been annouced I've seen people thinking the game will be some amazing virtual reality type of deal, because the trailer makes it look all next gen, when in fact it's not going to be anything like that (especially if it's anything like Ingress, the app it's based on), so ultimately the disappointment is inevitable because they did an awful job with PR (by awful I mean it's super misleading). I don't have many hopes for Pokemon GO unfortunately and am expecting it to be a cash grab by Nintendo that will hurt the franchise more than anything. Quote

It is not the first, nor the second or third time that Pokémon goes mobile/PC, so, even with all apps and games on mobile, don't expect Nintendo doing that soon [their only mobile game will be a Mii social network aimed to japanese people] Quote
