Please Note: This thread is not completed yet and I will add more detail to it after work.

I wanted to make a series of threads regarding collecting and what sorts of challenges buyers face when entering this market. As with my previous post, I will mainly focus on collecting bishoujo figurines from Japan, but a lot of this information can pertain to any purchase of Japanese character goods. In this specific thread, I'll focus on money saving tips and break it down a little further for those that are interested. Before we get into that though, let's talk about the cost.

Linked above are sample prices of items I have personally purchased from AmiAmi as of February 2016 since I started the hobby 3-4 years ago. Please note that these items are only for the site, and do not reflect any purchases in Japan that are not figurines. The reason I posted this example is to show what you can expect to pay should you be interested in getting into this sort of collecting. While I consider myself an actual collector, it's important to realize that every buyers financial needs are different, and how you choose to invest your money into this sort of collecting is important to consider.

When I get the chance to expand on this thread later tonight, we will be exploring information about the following purchase locations and what you can expect to pay should you choose to order from the following areas. I'll also tell you ways to save money should you choose to order figurines.

  • Japanese Purchases
  • American Purchases
  • European Purchases
  • Canadian Purchases
  • Asian Purchases (outside of Japan)
  • Australian Purchases
