Nosebleed Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 Posted for backers of the Vanilla Essence Kickstarter: I was not expecting to see this. What's interesting is that Kickstarter did say THIS was out of their scope but a full blown hentai manga is not. 10/10 for consistency. For those who don't know, this manga was localized before by Seven Seas but due to a bunch of controversy it was eventually discontinued before it could be fully released in English. Wonder what's going to happen this time. sanahtlig 1 Quote

Not really. Hentai is just 2D regular porn. It is not surprising that anything that even has a hint that it might sexualise children is considered not worth the risk of such a high profile online service in the west. Just because the author, reviewer, readers and most of Japan don't think this is pedo porn, doesn't mean that the west won't see it as such. bigfatround0 1 Quote

I get why they did it, but that doesn't change the inconsistency of their rules. I guess ultimately it's their platform and if they don't like something then it doesn't go on it regardless. Quote
mitchhamilton Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 pretty curious to see how this goes. KnJ might be one of the first manga series i ever finished and not because it was ecchi or anything but because i genuinely liked the characters and their arcs. i think it was a well written manga. still, it is a manga about a very precocious girl, who isnt afraid to drop her panties down to her ankles to get the attention of her adult teacher. Hooooooo Totally read it for the "characters and their boobs arcs" huh? Hmm, well, good luck to them I guess. Hope it goes well. Kickstarter never makes any sense when it comes to these things. Their rules are kind of stupid .. mitchhamilton 1 Quote

suikashoujo Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 Oh, nice. As much as I enjoyed Kodomo no Jikan, I never expected it to get another shot at localization, considering the subject matter. But it does have some really great themes and storylines underneath all the questionable material, so I would be pretty likely to support anyone attempting to give it a second chance. And this is coming from someone who is generally not into lolicon stuff at all. Quote
tahu157 Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 Ah man, my initial thought was that this was the hentai manga Kodomo no Jikan by Akira Gotoh, which is probably my all time favorite hentai. Alas, it is not. Quote

Nosebleed Posted May 29, 2016 Author Posted May 29, 2016 Damn, they even attempted to address all the criticism this manga got back when it was shut down. I applaud them for that. However... >Omnibus format Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo..... Well, I'll probably buy them all because I love this manga, but i really wish they didn't go for the omnibus format. It makes the book super thick and more annoying to flip through. I much more enjoy the 200 page volumes I can easily carry around. I can't back the campaign because Kickstarter rejects my cards, but all the perks seem reasonable. The one thing I fear is Kickstarter removing the dakimakuras like what happened with Grisaia. We'll see though (they did manage to kickstart Vanilla Essence after all) Quote
mitchhamilton Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 whatever happened with this? THATS RIGHT! I DIDNT FORGET! Quote

It got funded, even becoming the most funded manga project on KS yet. There's been no outcries from mainstream media that I know of, and the backers(including myself) will get their physical rewards around October next year. Does that answer your question? mitchhamilton 1 Quote
